I was on the Dream in October of 2017 and going back in a few weeks. I love the spa area with the thermal pool, heated loungers, etc. The service on the Dream was also wonderful. Didn't like Carnival before the Dream, preferred Princess., but the spa area just blew us away!!!

I bring a big bag of cheese popcorn with me. The popcorn they have is dry and the salt doesn't stick to dry popcorn. I'd bring my own and then I ration it out in Tupperware containers for the movie. I highly recommend bringing a snack of your own because the popcorn is really bad

Just finished a week on the Dream. Your words are very kind, but accurate. The elevators are extremely crowded at peak periods, necessitating use of stairs which, for seniors, can be very difficult. Surprisingly easy embarkation and disembarkation. Given Lanai rooms as sanctuaries, a reasonable bang for the buck. (You mentioned the beds; they definitely need replacing.)

Thanks for the review. God and our budget willing we will sail on the Dream in January. I understand the cabins are larger than Norwegian. Sailed the Dawn out of NO last year, felt crammed in like sardines. Norwegians ports are overdrveloped while it looks like Carnival's ports are much more like the area used to be.
Hi Don, would like to put my little 2 cents worth in about Carnival cruises and the Dream. We just got off the Dream Feb 4th (it was one of our coldest cruises, not the ships fault) This was our 5th cruise with Carnival ( yrs 1999, 2000, 2005, 2009 and 2018) and boy have they cheapened up. No more Mints on our pillows at nite, no Gala buffet with all the pretty food, no table cloths except on elegant nite, no free tours of the Galley or back stage. The excursions seem to have gone way up in price. I would agree with you that the food is just ok on The Dream. I remember in the past you could have steak and lobster with every meal if you wanted & now it was an up charge of $20. They didn't give us a past cruiser party OR a captains party. We did get 2 free drink tickets which was nice. We chose anytime dining which has pros and cons. We liked that we could go and eat at any time. The fist nite was a little iffy as there was quit a long line and wait. I was so looking forward to having a great night's rest on those comfy beds that I remembered but was sorely disappointed, worst bed ever, woke up sore most mornings. Loved the Promenade deck that you could walk around the whole ship and the whirl pools on the side there. The punchline comedy club was good, Guys burgers is the best!! There were some really good music talent around the ship that we really loved listening to but I have to say the majority of the main shows were lacking. We are seriously considering never cruising with Carnival again and the main reason happened today as we checked our credit card statement! When we received our last statement on the boat it was totally correct. My husband recently checked our charge card statement & there was an extra $132 charge on it!! WHAT!! I called right away (on hold for 25min) and was told that the charge was for the 6 beach towels that we took. WHAT!!! We noticed that on the last Seaday, there were actually 3 in our cabin. On our 2009 cruise, on the morning of disembarkation, there was an erroneous charge that we caught right away. We went to the customer service desk and explained that it was not our charge. We had just checked our Folio the night before so these charges were put on there sometime overnight. Whats up with that? They told us they would reverse the charge but it would take up to 6 weeks. My husband told them "No, you will do it now!" So not without attitude it took her about 20 minutes to get it taken care of but we walked off the ship with the charge cancelled. If you haven't already, I would like to see you do a Vlog letting cruisers know how important it is to check your charges, make sure they are correct and then verify that it matches with your charge card account. Sorry for this being so long I really do love cruising but disappointed with Carnival this time. :( I know it may sound like I'm just a complainer but we weren't the only ones who noticed that things have changed. In talking with other past cruisers and my husband even talking with a crew member who was very candid with him, we believe our impressions are validated. I suppose one really wouldn't notice these changes if they have cruised Carnival more recently but it's been 9 years for us so we really noticed it. Thanks for listening Jody
Did they fix the sewage problem on the Dream yet? I sailed a few years ago on the Dream out of Port Canaveral. We were on Deck 7, and there were several cabins near the main bank of elevators that had sewage back-up. So much, it made it out of the cabin, and out into the hallway. Absolutely unmistakable smell. When we were back from the cruise, I checked Google, and it was a known issue with the ship and it's design. The issue never really affected us, but I'm sure it ruined the experience for those passengers near the elevators. The food was actually very good, my kids loved the water slides, and the shows were great too. While the staff was excellent, I did feel like the ship was understaffed for the number of passengers on the ship. Waiting for the omelet station (morning) or Mongolian wok (lunch) took a minimum of an hour. My kids loved the kids club.
Can you talk about carnival Splendor ship. I’m going on a cruise with carnival Splendor cruise to Mexico in July. I would like to know more about the ship.
Don, make a vid about the benefits of booking a cruise while on a cruise. Ensure you mention that whatever they promise is on paper. I did it last year , they said I will get 100.00 OBC if I get another cruiser to go. I booked a cruise for a couple I know on the spot. I never got my 100.00. It is better to see it on paper or video record them.
You are easily amused.I sailed on the 'Dream' from San Juan, PR, to New Orleans, LA.Couldn't wait to get off of it.Poor service, mediocre food. Broken chair in the cabin.The maitre'd must have been imported from some cafeteria in Portugal.Manoel was his name.He really was quite stupid and amateurish. Confused.Had two trousers lifted from the cabin closet. The wait staff was either near hostile or just totally disinterested.The disembarking was total chaos.But RIchard, you keep on cruising on the 'Dream.'

Yes sir!When I got back to the U.S. I called the cruise coordinator and statedmy concerns. How my trousers got lifted. Poor service in the diningarea. Broken furniture. I guess the cleaning crew was so eager to choose two of my trousers they left behind several cleaning cloths and carpet cleaner behind.I have a thirty two inch waist. I'm sure someone down below in the servants quarters could easily fit in them or send them back to their home country.Let's see, as I recall, I barely got an 'I'm sorry to hear that' from thecoordinator. No more Carnival for me!I am thinking of taking an Oceania cruise from Barcelona to Riode Janeiro in November, 2019. We'll see.....

Very accurate review and I agree with another commenter that you were very kind. This was our third Carnival cruise and we knew it would be full of kids as it was spring break. Of the over 3500 passengers, 1300 were under 21! That didn’t bother us as much as the bland, boring and small portioned dinners. The cabins were uncomfortable with lack of cooling and uncomfortable bed. Our previous cruises were 2011 and 2012. Six years later it seemed so cheap and lackluster. There was another couple cruising with us and we were all extremely impressed with the crew and staff. Big thumbs up for excellent customer and constant smiles! We love cruising but will definitely consider a different line for our next one.
Pls talk about the crowding of ships as I am going on the allure of the seas in June. I have been on cruises but not on a large boat like the allure. And I'm anxious that it will be too crowded
Royal does a very good job of spreading things out on the ship so they do not seem crowded. the times they can feel crowded are when you need to take a tender to a port, sail away party, and buffet on sea days. but really you get use to it very quickly and make your way around the ship without to much issues
I just left the dream. In and out of the ship was effective. The food was good. The dining room is a 5 star for me. The one thing I hated was there was alot of people doing pot and i hope this is a one time thing
Don you are way too nice, you wouldn't get me back on that ship or any Carnival ship. Spend the money and go on better ships ie Norwegian , Princess , Holland America its worth it! Booking my next cruise on Princess to Alaska
