- Liz Coleman, Navy spouse, and Associate Director of Enrollment Training & Admissions, found her way to a great remote career!
Liz's and her husband were married for two years before he enlisted and so during that time, she was able to get her foot in the door working in the admissions office for her Alma Mater serving as an Admissions Counselor. After their first PCS, she was fortunate enough to be hired at an elite university as a remote employee (this was pre-Covid) where she started as an Enrollment Advisor and worked her way up to Senior Enrollment Advisor.
While she throughly enjoyed her time at that university, she found an opportunity with her current employer to be able to remain remote but stretch her career further not just in her title but also in proximity. The university she is employed for now is across the country and being a remote employee has provided her the flexibility of growing as a professional regardless of her moves while still forming professional connections across the county.
When she was hired for her first remote position, she didn’t realize that it was remote and was disappointed when she was found out about it. However, once she experienced remote work and the freedom/opportunities that come with that while juggling military life, she was able to see the benefits.
While her job & career is incredibly important to her and her sense of purpose in life, her family is more important and so, having the opportunity to juggle both areas is a gift she certainly appreciates daily.
