    I recently purchased the Marksman, my first real RC. I made a course in my backyard from bricks, cut up 2x lumber, and a few other odds and ends. Loads of fun. I did burn up the steering servo within an hour of the first run. I filed a warranty claim with Redcat and they sent a replacement the next day. Hats off to Redcat customer service. In the meantime, I picked up a claimed 35kg Zoskay servo that seems to work well enough. And I just did the screw mod for the steering to get a few more degrees of turn. Great little truck. And while it may not be a true crawler, I'm impressed what these little trucks can do. I remember as a kid I once thought I wanted to be a suspension engineer, so I have fun just watching these little suspensions in action. Down the rabbit hole I go. And thank you RC-TNT for sharing your knowledge. You're insight directed me towards the Marksman.

      Oh nice! So glad you're enjoying it :)
      I've got a small pile of upgrades sitting with my Marksman, awaiting installation and testing. I'll get the video going on that soon for you. Cheers!

    Yep you said it. It’s size & speed make it a good trail truck. I think with the right combo tire & wheel would make a difference. I’ve had mine up some steep rock slaps where it was 3 wheeling it was so steep. But it has its limits on anything super steep. Also I don’t think they make any but high clearance links would serve it well just had mine out & noticed the links getting stuck & also on the axle. But that was when I was pushing it. Interesting perspective I had my Capra 4wheel steer & Bronco & they both went up the same spots the Marksmen couldn’t. But the Capra is like cheating it’s amazing. One spot that only the Capra could get up I had to use the rear steer to make it & just looked amazing & put a big smile on my face. It’s one of my RC’s that by far was worth every penny. Thanks for the nudge to get my Marksmen out after it’s been sitting awhile. But before that I had to rest it I always had it out. You hit the nail on the head. It’s Fun.

      Thanks, it is fun eh. I've been thinking through how to improve this thing and the plan I've got is rather extreme, but I think I'll go ahead with it anyway as it's something different! Watch this space!

    I just recently got this model and once you upgrade the suspension and the tires to proper rock crawlers there is nowhere this keep CAN'T GO. I lifted the body with the stability in mind, I just took it up one our mountains great for rock crawling and it made it up without any issues in the rain. Just needs a little more softer tires.

      Nice one! I've got the sway bar from the Wendigo sitting here ready to go into it, I must get around to that. Glad you're enjoying it :) What tires did you go with?

  • @yodecaf
    @yodecaf ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree! Its definitely a trail truck--it is fun when the trail isn't overly technical. Compared to a rock crawler i have where im always bored when its not technical! I put a ProModeler 550 in mine. Great video angle.

      I get it like ur videos and have u fixed ur gmade bom I like that truck

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. The BOM TC is fixed but not upgraded, as tougher gears aren't available for it.
      The rig needs to be to on 2S only, but thankfully that's OK as the 2-speed gearbox gives you a choice of low speed torque and faster trail speeds. It's a great little machine.

    • @walterfulmer6587

      I know some of the axial 2 parts will work on the gmade have u looked to see if maybe the gears in the axil might work in the gmade

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Haven't looked but that's possible. Could also just install different axles... But really the truck isn't so bad if you keep it on 2s. Still one of the better crawlers!

    Install a 3s to 4s outrunner brushless motor in it. Maybe a 3 brothers rc.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh geez I dunno if those front axles would handle that. They're already failing with the stock motor!

  • @grisslebear
    @grisslebear 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe a TRAILMASTER 45, or even a 55 turn?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either of those in 550 size would be a bit slower than the 13T Crawlmaster here, yeah. It's a shame they shipped it with a 9T pinion already, as there's really no slowing it down without changing out the motor! That's what'll have to be next, she's too speedy like this!

    • @grisslebear
      @grisslebear 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCTNT
      Agreed. As stated, it's a great trail truck, but in stock form a less than inspiring crawler because of excessive speed.

      @@RCTNT True, I ended up with two Marksman, I bought a new one, and have done the turn radius mods everyone is doing, and put on a set of 2.2 Swamper TSL SX XL’s on it, 5.8” tall, it’s an awesome trail rig, then seen one for sale locally really cheap with a trans issue, but had a bunch of quality upgrades, including a like new Spectrum Firma brushless system, I’m replacing the complete trans for cheap, ($25) brand new take off..Basically putting it back mostly stock and using the brushless system in another project…Hate to be long winded, but I have grown to really like the Marksman, although never had any experience with any other Redcats…Love your content, thanks for bringing us along!
