It's a sub from me. Josh hits the nail right on the head, gaining films back from private collectors is nigh on impossible. I find it such a shame that the folks don't seem to realise how very much loved by many, many thousands of people the world over these missing stories are, and how marvellous it would be if we could just see them.
Hi Stephen! Wow, thank you so much, absolute honour to have you listening, massive fan of your work! Was sat near you for Quiz of Rassilon the other day but didn’t get a chance to say hi!👋🏻 If you fancy coming on the show for a chat it would be an absolute honour to have you on!
@@whoknewdwpod That was a hugely enjoyable afternoon at the BFI, wasn’t it Josh? I was thinking back to the first time I ever went there. In October 1983: ‘THE Weekend’! My Dad, enormously supportive of my enthusiasm for the programme - even though he thought it was ‘Way Out’! - brought us down on the train from Liverpool and booked us into a Kensington Hotel. The first showing (also Saturday - at 12!) was of The Daemons - seen for the first time here since 1971. And using domestic Betamax colour recordings, if I remember rightly - I’m sure the inestimable Mr Snares could confirm or deny this - having been only just acquired from the US prior to the screening. Impossibly exciting, and introduced by Barry Letts himself! Then there was the experimental showing of colourised bits and pieces of The Ambassadors of Death in the mid-90s. Extraordinarily thrilling experiences in those days; as the recovery from the scrap heap phase - that the Other Josh chronicles so brilliantly - was only just beginning! 😁
@@JoshSnares I think ‘Fascinating’ was the first word I ever wrote in one of your comments sections, wasn’t it? 😉 Yes, there can’t be many competitors for the amount of pleasure, insight - and utility! - you’ve provided via your videos, Joshua. Thank YOU! 😁
55:33 - beautiful description of WH’s performance. 👌
I should have seen that first answer to my question coming 😂 Great 2nd answer too.
Heard a lot of good things about this pod and this has been my second episode today! Really enjoying it! Cheers Joshes

Sadly if the reports of six episodes are true these collectors would have them until the end of their lives
Thank you for the sub Anthony!💙
Fascinating conversation with one of the most excellent television documentarists. 👌
