I'm still sad about what happened with Princess Z but Zenyatta had another beautiful filly that has big ears to grow into that's two fillies now but may one forever run free in the clouds with baby brother
I got to see Zenyatta at Gulfstream park here in Hollywood FL, what an amazing horse. My wife, at the time 2009, she pointed out, how big and fast was the big black horse beating everyone. I could never forget her neck upright, ears , straight up, as she ran passed the stands she actually turn her head to the crowd with her ears listening. You could almost see her accelerate right before the crowd as if she new she was putting on a show. I know I will never witness another Zenyatta. It was like meeting Michael Jordan or horse racing. A legend,. To me the best race horse in history. Truly Amazing.
I will never forget where I was (left for lunch; live on the West Coast) when I received a phone call about her crossing Rainbow Bridge. Six months and 8 days. The 8 represents Infinity. We will remember always! XO
Always extremely sad when a tiny filly or colt dies. There is so much life and promise there, and it's absolutely heartbreaking when they don't survive. Thankfully a brood mare can have new offspring soon after. That's how they are.

@@ratherbwithhorses there’s nothing to ruin, this mare has continued to lose babies even for 2021! It’s heartbreaking but it’s reality, recognizing we lost a potential filled filly isn’t ruining anything. It’s being strong enough to face the truth
miss kitty - She was playing with other weanlings in the pasture and was involved in a collision with another youngster. Sadly her back was broken beyond repair.
Btw secratartariet is zenyatta great great... grandfather sooo tbh that foal may have some genetic issues but yes there foals would race like super star but I just wanted to let ya know that >.
Tiny feet Secretariat DOES NOT appear in Zenyatta's pedigree. He appears in the pedigrees of a lot of recent prominent horses -- American Pharoah, Justify, Beholder, Wise Dan, Orb, Nyquist, California Chrome, and all of Tapit's many successful progeny (Untapable, Tonalist, Frosted, Creator, etc.). But not Zenyatta. Go to pedigree query if you don't believe me. Secretariat's dam sire (maternal grandfather) Princequillo is in the fourth generation of Zenyatta's pedigree. So a breeding of Secretariat to Zenyatta would produce a foal inbred 3X5 to Princequillo. That degree of inbreeding is commonplace among Thoroughbreds -- 3X3 isn't unknown, and 3x4 is pretty common. I'm not aware of any modern country which forbids 2nd cousins marrying, which would be a (doubled) 3X3 pairing; many states allow first cousins (doubled 2X2) to marry. Among humans, the degree of risk involved in any relationship beyond first cousins is trivial. (Though there is a difference, because all TBs will be related to each other many times, further back.)
@@OfficialMuffiin No. I don't know where you got that false information, but I would bet every cent I own against it, because I know how to use pedigree.com, and Terlingua is NOT in Z's pedigree. I will shortly list her actual pedigree.
@UCJpTejA5QWy9J6Q97t34LlA Terlingua was foaled in 1976. Zenyatta is by Street Cry (1998) out of Vertigineux (1995) Zenyatta's 2nd generation progenitors are: Machiavellian (1987) (Street Cry's sire) Helen Street (1982) (Street Cry's dam) Kris S. (1977) (Vertigineux's sire) For the Flag (1978) (Vertigineux's dam) Zenyatta's 3rd generation progenitors are: parents of Machiavellian: Mr. Prospector (1970) Coup de Folie (1982) parents of Helen Street Troy (1976) Waterway (1976) parents of Kris S. Roberto (1969) Sharp Queen (1965) parents of For the Flag Forli (1963) In the Offing (1973) Other than Coup de Folie, all of Zenyatta's third generation ancestors were born in 1976 or earlier, making it impossible for Terlingua to be present in their pedigrees. Coup de Folie is by Halo (1969) out of Raise the Standard (1978). Terlingua raced until she was 4, in 1980, so she is not present in Raise the Standard's pedigree, either.
She has been bred 6 times as of summer 2018. Two foals have died: the filly featured here was injured in a paddock accident as a weanling, and her full brother died from meconium poisoning a few days after birth. Zenyatta's foal expected in 2018 was lost in a late miscarriage. Her first two foals, Cozmic One and Ziconic, have not been successful at the track. Cozmic One, who earned about $5000, is retired and has been gelded. Ziconic remains in training, at least as of early 2018. He is a non-winner in 9 races, all maiden special weights. Her other foal is a yearling filly, born in 2017, and is too young to race.
marysueeasteregg current goal of racing age is named Zellda, and appears to be approaching a race soon. Workouts have increased from 3 to 4 furlongs. When she goes 5 furlongs, or has a workout from the gate, that is the sign that a race is imminent. She is very feisty, there are videos of her trying to buck while working out.
@@AuthenticMage so far she has showed nothing to indicate she will be a winner. She is slow and has no inclination to pass her workmate. Maybe that will change once she figures it out, but she doesn't seem to get it or want to yet. Looks like she is just being conditioned and figured out. She is very finely built with very slender legs. I fear she will get heavier upper body and wont be able to carry the weight a distance on those legs. She is also not very smooth mover.
MegaPerson012345 at this stage it’s all about conditioning. They aren’t letting her go her best speed, and are quite possibly not letting her go by her workmate teaching her to rate.
She is really happy being a mom. Gives her something to do. However getting her in foal and getting her to have a healthy foal has become a problem. If she has any problem with her candy ride that is due next month I hope they stop trying to breed her and give her a different job. Cause just being fat and lazy isnt good for a horse. Her produce record so far is horrible.
The foal died from an accident playing with other weanlings. It could happen to any horse. Zenyattas been retired for 8 years now and has only had 5 foals. Most broodmares are bred back to back. The Moss's love Zenyatta.
@@OfficialMuffiin these people that hate every horse owner, everything is abuse is their wish. It's impossible to get them to actually learn anything because it feels good to them to slur horse owners or other horse owners.
Money and greed is not why in this case. However I dont think zenyatta should be bred anymore. She has had to skip a season, miscarried, and had a meconium baby. I think she also didnt always take right away either. While she is a good mom and loves her babies probably best to not breed her anymore if she loses another during or right after pregnancy. She is about to have a candy ride. Hope that goes well. May be an ok cross for her.
