    I would like to take a moment to appreciate the tutorial. It is so detailed. I am new to Report Builder and I was able to create a real-time chart report for my work with help of this video :). I have still lot to learn and execute in Report Builder , will go through other videos as well. Moreover we get prompt responses for the questions asked as well . Cheers and thanks for the effort .

    Very helpful video! By the way, is the video working on make the chart look better in this SSRS Report Builder Playlist?

    Another brilliant video Andrew. I have to say your videos are the best out there on TH-cam and I have watched many! I wonder how you get this to work using query parameters when your report does a scheduled refresh and cache. I assume all of yours are running the query live each time the report is run on the portal?

    • @WiseOwlTutorials
      @WiseOwlTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ricky! Yes, you're right that I'm running the reports in these videos on-demand.
      If you're setting your report's dataset to create a cache then SSRS will automatically cache a different version of the dataset for each set of values passed to the parameters - Microsoft's documentation has some basic info on that here th-cam.com/video/zHJPliWS9FQ/w-d-xo.html
      I hope that helps!

      Thank you for your reply Andrew. Thanks for the info but the link took me to one of your VBA videos. Sorry to ask another question but is it possible to use query parameters with cached reports I thought it wasn’t possible but from what you’ve said I might be wrong!?
      By the way there is a new series of Twilight books that are being turned into movies...thought you’d be excited by this!!! Sorry not true but always makes me laugh your hatred of Twilight!!

      @@bithepower9081 Sorry about that, I had a different link in the clipboard from a previous question, this is the one I meant to use docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-server/caching-reports-ssrs?view=sql-server-ver15#cached-instances
      The important quote is this one "However, if a report can contain different data based on query parameters, multiple versions of the report may be cached at any given time. For example, suppose you have a parameterized report that takes a region code as a parameter value. If four different users specify four unique region codes, four cached copies are created."
      There are some reasons that a report can't be cached which are mentioned in the same page.
      And omg you had me for a second! The only vampire-related media I'm interested in at the moment is the Blade reboot with Mahershala Ali!

      Ah that’s brilliant, thanks so much Andrew. That was my thinking I tried to get it to work before but was unsuccessful!
      Ha ha!! Brilliant! Oh excellent, he is such a good actor so look forward to that!
      Thanks again, seriously love your videos and always recommend you to my staff and colleagues.

    Great tutorial! I did have a question. I have a donut chart with two data labels. For some reason the larger amount data label's font looks more bold and larger even though they are the same size before I run the report. Any ideas would be appreciated!

      Hi Ryan! Interesting, does the same happen if you view the Print Layout when you run the report?

    Hi Andrew. I'm learning a lot with your excellent videos! Only one question: I'm using Report Builder version v15.7.01704.0001-c075f517 in series properties don't appear the option Action/Go to report, only None, Go to bookmark and Go to URL. Do I need to activate anything to be able to see the Go report option? Thanks for your help and congratulations again for your fantastic videos!

      Hi! It looks like you're using Power BI Report Builder rather than SQL Server Report Builder.
      Power BI Report Builder doesn't support "Go to Report" actions as it doesn't support saving reports to to an on-premises Report Server.
      This is the version of Report Builder you need if you want to use the "Go to Report" action www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53613
      I hope that helps!

      You’re right. I was using Enter Data as a Data source instead of SQL.
      Thanks for your quick answer and congratulations again for your videos!

    Great tutorial videos thank you, you've helped me a lot! Question on drill through from a date chart (products by month won date), my drill through is not surfacing all the product items in each month - any thoughts? Child report has query parameters of date won >= @Start and date won

    • @WiseOwlTutorials
      @WiseOwlTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jules! My guess is that you're not passing the values you think you're passing to the child report parameters. Try dropping a couple of text boxes in the header of the child report so you can see which values are actually being passed into the @Start and @End parameters.
      I hope it helps!
