- From early planB to 3 decades of Girl, we caught up (and cornered) Mike and Rickk to talk about some of their shared video parts, skateboard graphics, sneaker hits and misses, making videos and skits, magazine covers, running Girl for 30 years and much more.
Fastest click in my life
Same! Hahahaha
Seen it on Instagram, automatically went to TH-cam 😅
Fat same
There is something special about them beyond the skating
😂😂😂 I swear
The duo that changed skateboarding forever
I would also put Danny Way and Colin McKay on that same claim..
@@BLVCKSEA off course
Haha when Rick scratched at the paint with his thumbnail, that's something I always think about with these interviews, everyone is always waving the VHS tapes and decks around and flipping through the mags with less than the utmost care, I know I get anxious watching and just imagine Tim politely smiling and nodding while internally having a nervous breakdown haha
This is what us old heads want. Bow down to these men 🙏
Word!
Mike and ricks skating is timeless.
@@cheothegeo2742 I put Rick in the same vein as ppl put Gino; I just want to see him skate, idc if it's a hard trick or not. Time is not kind to skateboarders and I know he might have issues (I myself have a calcium deposit on my achilles tendon making it incredibly painful to even think about popping). These guys are most definitely timeless
Thx for bringing this to life Tim & Sarah 🙏. Mike & Rickk have had a massively positive impact on my life and career. I'm eternally grateful to call them my friends.
All of Rick's facial expressions are the best
Years ago my friend got a gig fixing up Andy Jenkins house and somehow through that connection we got to skate the crail park for a day and after the session for like 5 minutes we got a tour of the office where they had all these old decks and ads on the walls. Will never forget that day.
I can tell I"m getting old because I'd rather watch these two talk about the past vs watching any new skate parts. Especially watching Carroll, style is everything.
No matter what new skate companies come out or corporate shoe companies come into skateboarding.. no one wants crailtap to leave the skate industry! To many more years to come! 🍻
I believe it's important for Mike and Rick show up once in a while to keep the spirit alive, the new guys are cool but they dont make me feel like buying Girl and Chocolate...u feel me?
@@DeadHandXI think it boils down to them not being corporate hawks trying to capitalize on everything and being at the forefront all the time. It seems they enjoy the level they are at and like having that core skate feel. I agree with you though. I don’t always feel the urge to get a girl or chocolate board, but maybe I should now?
CrailCouch forever.
@@erichanhauser3190 word
yes and never get rid of the G008 board shape.
Thanks for having Mike & Rick on , this was a treat to watch
I remember when Mike and Rick had their first public unveiling of Girl merch at the Back to the City skate contest in SF 93’. They both had the classic girl logo t shirts on. Good times.
Did you ever think when you started that you would get to interview the top dogs of Crailtap? Congrats on finally getting it done!
Real skate history! Thrasher is slacking on this one!
This is EPIC. I've never really even heard either of them speak to much. Especially Rick Howard. This is a rare gem!
Sooooo good!!!! Great job on getting Mike and Rick to do another part together! hahaha.....and BIG thanks for the shout out! That means a lot!
💚💚💚
My childhood just called…it wants all of its greatest memories back!!!
Finally, the clouds have parted today and Bob just delivers!
I’m here at working grinning like a total idiot the entire time. THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT!
Carroll at the SF Library wearing Koston 2’s in Modus Operandi is still one of the greatest lines ever.
Do you confirm they are the K2 I have been wondering so many times they could be the lakai faded no?
@@mmike5890 nah mate they’re definitely Koston 2’s.
@@jimmyloughnan9656 it's so weird he was DC ? Lakai on his way ? How did he end up with the K2?
@@mmike5890 my only theory is that he wore them during the transition from leaving DC to starting Lakai.
@@jimmyloughnan9656 it could be that only. They were my favourite shoes koston2 some dudes would get hurt on those but those shoes were great for me first switch flip on those.
I’m 41 now but as a young biracial skateboarder in a small town, the early Girl Team was a fuckin breath of fresh air! United Nations na mean!
Shoutout to Bobshirt for putting this together! The nostalgia is on 11
My hand up waving around as I watch and mouth Kurupt when the part comes on… hair raising gangsterism! Loved the whole thing man. EPIC AF
Much needed episode. Koston and Guy next!
How did you even get them BOTH to even talk!? This is epic. Whose next Meg Baltimore? 😜🙏
PJ ladd interview in this format would be monumental
the most underrated channel on all of youtube
I took a bus across town to Los Gatos in 1992 to find Big brother #4. When I got there the employees pointed to a wicker basket with magazines with covers torn off. The first magazine I picked up was Big Brother #4. That particular issue had a coupon subscription stating if you subscribe they would send you a free skateboard. I got my subscription and Rudy Johnsons 40 OZ board in the mail. Wild. Also, there was no expiration date posted on the coupon.
PJ on Girl would have been so rad.
Best interview ever! Also thank you so much for asking why they always skated blank boards in the 90’s! I was hoping that question would get asked at The Nine club and I always wanted to know why they skated blanks instead of the actual graphics, I just thought it was just their way of being young and rebellious and not showing the company brand hahaha 😂
Adam mcnatt looking like he skated switch😂 ricks hilarious
FBI, delete this comment!!! 🙃
Jason dill had beef with him too. And apparently so did Carroll lol
came to the comments for this info, thanks
@cheothegeo2742 yeah I heard not many people were fans of adam mcnatt. I know he got the boot from 101 for stealing tho
One of the better interviews with these two. Erics nollie back heel..*Chefs kiss*
Rad duo!!! Thank you for that interview... I know what I'm doing after work!!

This is gold. Thanks for doing this Tim. ❤❤❤
This was awesome to watch. Thanks for the upload
It's reminded me, I had Mike's first plan b board. I had a couple of his boards for sure. First plan b vid was good, but for me, virtual reality was the one. Good soundtrack, solid, insane skating. Great days. From Liverpool England
What a great day. Bobshirt is the best channel on TH-cam
Rick's skating is timeless. He also appears to be ageless.
Awesome Video!!! I didn't even know about these, thanks for posting this up for everyone!!! That Section at the end was a banger when it came out and still is!!!!!!
🥰
Best BOBSHIRT EVER.

Yes! Thank you 👐 this us going to make my morning drive the best part of my day
these always remind me of why i got into skating. thank you
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS OR YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!
This was awesome to watch 🙏🏻
really appreciate these vids
I needed this
I’ve been watching these dudes sk8 since the early 90,s! I could easily write a book on them ✍🏼👀
thank you we appreciate this
It's funny how videos and video parts that are so iconic for the majority of skateboarders who were growning up back then, and were watched on repeat by those skateboarders to the point that they remember most tricks and shoes someone wore etc, that the actual skateboarders who created those videos can't even remember much about them at all? I wasn't even in the same country let alone skating with these guys and I could tell them more about there own classic video parts? That's quite humble I suppose? Particularly Rick for eg? He doesn't remember much at all about Questionable, a classic for me growing up. Rad interview and insights.
LEGENDS
This is too good. Could watch for hours
incredible! thank you!
another amazing interview.
Fck, these are so good.
Im curious if younger skaters are into these types of videos.
Judging from myself and the comment's , it seems like the older heads are into these.
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS.
Great work as always
Legends that we love and grew up!! Definitely the biggest influnce on street visión for modern sb
Thanks for doing this
I was lucky enough to go to the Penal Code premier at the Lake Merced boathouse, 14 years old and just in awe
I clicked in .1 second. Getting Rick feels rarer than a unicorn
Amazing amazing stuff, thank you ❤
Another great one!!!
Favorite dudes ❤ Sick interview 🤘🏼
Awesome interview!
This two change skateboarding not just in tricks/Style but almost everything that all company´s do now Girl/Chocolate were the first ones doing it!
Amazing. Thank you.
This was so sick!!! 🤯
This was the best! Goldfish was the first skate vid I ever bought and it shaped my skating forever!
Legends of the skateboarding |. Mike and Rick are amazing skateboarders!!!
Rick did you dirty with the fingernail scrape
Goldfish is the first skate video I ever owned. Mouse is my all time favorite video.

amazing. all of it❤
Dope interview !!
Wish they both put out more footage. Two of the best.
The raddest! Virtual and Goldfish still in rotation. MC and Rick so inspirational. 🙏
Got slo mo and a full breakdown of my fav Carroll clip let’s go
So that is what Rick sounds like? You should have Megan on next.
Rick Carrol and Mike Howard rule!
This was dope, and educational. I liked the mention of bleaching Half-Cabs. I had a job at a university athletics facility, where I mostly washed and dried loads of white towels. I threw a pair of Lakais in there with the bleach (and made myself some knock-off green blind jeans as well). Used to skate on the gymnasium floors and bring girls in there to shoot hoops after hours. I'd like to think Grandaddy Carrol would be proud. Thanks for this interview/ history lesson.
Great interview
The ending paramount sequence was a nice touch. Wild its been 15 years of Bobshirt
This is the first time in my life I’ve watched a TH-cam video over an hour in one sitting 🪑
Amazing!!! 🔥
