What is the big attraction with Gibraltar?

I would guess to refuel prior to crossing the Atlantic en route to the Caribbean. The price of diesel may be relatively cheap here too (low tax?).

Fuel is duty free in Gibraltar and we are in a strategic location whilst arriving and departing from the Atlantic.
