- Anyone visiting Naples cannot miss the National Archaeological Museum, which houses exceptionally rare antique collections. The original building, dating back to the 15th century, was initially a monumental palace built to house the University of Naples. Transformed at the end of the 18th century, it was redeveloped on the initiative of King Ferdinand IV, who planned to establish a museum there. The latter opened its doors in 1816, bringing together collections from various origins.

The mosaics were just stunning. The marble statues were stunning. This is a treasure building in Naples. Just another reason to visit Italy and take a weekend in Naples.
Don’t say anything about how the noses were knocked off the old statues because they were wide and flat. Then they fashioned new noses back on that look more Caucasian.
The skills of ancient Roman sculptures was incredible. They achieved perfection in the works that could not be matched until the Middle Ages.
Those statues and busts are just stunning. And Antinous is depiction presiding over the lot in the emperors' room. Quite good for Hadrian's lover! 😊
Visited the museum but still enjoyed this video. Thank You!
A very good video, very interesting!
Had no idea that some of these statues were so big!
Wonderful! Thank you.
Einzigartig !!!!@
Thank you
Amazing!
Merci pour le partage !
A visit is an absolute must, if you are interested in the great greco roman history of this city, region and Italy overall. ❤❤❤
You have to remember these works of art were covered with bold, vivid colors! They were never white . They were painted to look more realistic.
I love the ancient Art,its sometime to much but you have to understand it whats it is all about
Too much? What does that mean? It is incredible and we are lucky to be able to see it 2,000 years later.
Caligula would have blushed
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
..wonderfu!..more of the same please :)
❤
I notice the female statues are clothed yet the male statues are the full Monty.🤔
look again. plenty to see
10:30 Please tell me why this man has a dead child hanging over his shoulder?
the dragging of the child looks more brutal.
No?
should we get that museum out of naples because of that vulcano?
no. this will make for future work.
@@yonickyg9719digging it out ;)?
commercials , I am tired of them 10 for 35 min of viewing, losing me...
apparently no wheel chair access. Not even rails in the entrance stairs....
Right. Then, all the more reason to be thankful for this video i'd say.

Daphne, young *MAN* ???!!!
It seems those people back then had no clothes 👀
Oh they had clothes but they wanted people to think they cavorted about naked!
Museums are a storage of stolen information😢 Never should have been removed
Museums and collectors are the reason many of these art works are still around today.
the music is so horrible on this and so loud please please tone it down
