You said it so wonderfully. Really love this reaction from you. The bitter sweetness, the healing process characterize the song. He did mention in his Weibo post that the song is also about reconciling with one self. It's half sad and half bright. The song starts with a melancholic tone but eventually morphed in to a very positive rock song. The rich arrangement using various instruments is also outstanding, strings, Pipa (a lute like instrument), guitar, drums. For the first time, the song credited Hua Hua as the main arranger. It shows us how much talent he has in arranging songs. Also, like you said, the song's meaning make you think a lot. The illusionary essence of beautiful things in life like a mirage, you are happy that they are there but you are sad that they can't be there forever and that they are eventually illusionary and that you can't find them.
You are so right. Hua has a beautiful way of presenting music to make you "feel" emotions that are really deep and makes you "think". His band is really exceptional and love all the different instruments coming into this song.

Although I might replace the word "happiness" with "hope". There is a sense that through the pain/hardships, comes beauty and growth...his emotional expression touches me and brings me to tears. Hua walked straight, knelt and "kowtowed" in the end part of the song. The ritual is always for parents in China. So it's guessed for his mom who deceased not too long ago. And his "friend" may be his mom.
This song is a song he wrote to his mother. A few months before he sang this song, his mother passed away

I recommend you a Spanish singer her name is Diana Navarro I would like you to listen to a song of hers called "El perdón" she is a very versatile singer she sings different styles of music with incredible melismas and notes greetings from Spain.
I have watched this video many times. At the end, as he is walking down the stage, it looks like he slips and falls, or something happens. On the close-up of his return walk, he looks upset. Then, when he takes the microphone and walks off, he has an ugly, angry face as if disgusted. Definitely not in the character of Hua Hua that we normally get to see. I would love to hear from him what happened.
When he walked down the stage he dropped to his knees and 'cowtowed' I also thought he looked angry when he took the microphone to walk off but someone who was at the concerts suggested he was extremely emotional and was trying to contain himself. I'd also love to hear from him about it although as he keeps so much close to his chest I'm not sure we'd ever really know.
Hua sang with true felling, on the first show of The Flower in the small Town it was a elegy song for his ‘ good friend ‘, he kneed and bowed to say goodby to his respected Good Friend and staight up continue he road bravely.
