I'm chronically unwell (since age 16) - now 28 and as a result I'm mostly housebound and can't travel etc. Your videos bring me more joy than you can imagine. I would never normally get to see such things or have the feeling of being out there in the wilderness and exploring. Thank you so much for sharing these videos and bringing me a little slice of adventure. On my 65 inch OLED TV this looks incredible by the way
Hi Alex, your comment made me smile a lot and feel humbled. I really enjoy doing these hikes and sharing them with other, but I never realized it could have such in impact. I appreciate your comment a lot; it is gives me a new perspective and motivation. By the way, I watched some of your videos. I love plants: my apartment is turning into a jungle and I can't stop buying more, but you are really next level man! Keep it up.
Alex I'm sorry to hear you're unwell and can't travel .!!! As someone who enjoyed the great outdoors myself but am slightly restricted from Arthritis in the bone's at the tender age of 69.!!!Glad to hear these videos bring a bit of joy to you.!!!I was quiet lucky to walk the highest peaks in Ireland and Scotland and England and Wales over the last 15 years there's nothing like it for the peace and tranquillity.!!!Maybe someday you'll have the chance I hope and pray you do.!!!!Stay safe love From Ireland.!!!
The moment I saw the video I thought of kraig adams right away. It’s not easy to film yourself while hiking. Been there and it’s hard to do so. Great work guys
@@Nothinginpocket. Agreed, I always struggle with what cameras to use as short winter days don't allow me to summit and get tripod shots.. just not enough time in the day. When I see films like this it really makes me want to always use my sony a7siii vs a lighter faster camera setup.
I stumbled across these videos by Harmen and thought of Kraig Adams immediately. I have noticed many things Harmen has emulated from Kraig. Everything from the hoodie, to the music by Musicbed, and the camera shots and angles.
Yup, Picos de Europa are amazing. I'm a Polishman living in the UK, I've been to Asturias last September. From lovely beaches to great mountains in a matter of few miles. So green out there, looks like a Scotland. I loved it.
Many people doesn't know this because Spain is mostly known for its beaches, but it is acctually the second most mountainous country in Europe just after Switzerland

Hi Harmen! I haven’t been back to the Picos de Europa in 30 years. Your log of your travels has me longing to return. Thank you for your work! Anytime you want to come and hike in Idaho, USA, dinner is on me! 😉
I completely agree with Alex! Due to a car wreck and very bad knees, these videos take me for I can no longer go. I love that there’s no talking which lets me put myself right there where you are. At times it’s so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. Tears of a mild sadness that I can’t be there and see it for real but absolute joy that you take me there!
Thank you for sharing your story for me. It gives me a new perspective on doing these hiking and making these films. I am glad I could share the experience a little with you, and hope you can still enjoy nature in your own ways. The best!

Great hike, Harmen! Very thanks to share your journey in spetacularnatural places. I dream much more now! I will to fly in 2023 from Brazil to Spain and hike these mountains with my love and our boys. And we pursuit these incredibles sensations, views and peace. Good luck and best hikes forever, dear friend!
That was incredibly beautiful!!! Especially the picture of you standing on the mountain above the clouds. In the word of Morgan Freeman's character in The Bucket List... "That must have been witnessing something truly majestic!"
Absolutely astonishing! Some of the most beautiful footage I've ever seen of Picos. And btw I am familiar with the area and that is one heck of a hike in terms of distance and unevenness...Your video really encourages me to go out and push harder! Congrats!
Thanks for the comment. The terrain of Los Picos is by far the most difficult I have encountered on my hikes so far; but also some of the most exciting.

Watched your other Pyrénées video yesterday. Loved it. Then this one today. Loved it even more because of the addition of these stunning clouds and sky timelapse. Tomorrow will be your Tour du Mont Blanc video, can't wait! Great work 👍❤️
Thank you for your video, Harmen. Really amazing. It transmits me beauty, purity and tranquility. I have been twice in "Picos de Europa" . There aren´t high peaks like the Alps or the Pyrenees , but the landscapes, villages, people and the way of living are more natural and little transformed. The paradise. Greetings from Barcelona.
Thanks for sharing! I agree, Los Picos as a special kind of beauty to it. I felt especially in love with the more remote western massif. No big peaks, but a very interesting and beautiful landscape, loved it!
I don't know how many times I've been watching your films. No doubt - you are the master of such hiking stories with unbelievable style. Thank you for all emotions and inspirations. It gave me soul and energy to start creating myself. My first video made my happy. Thanks to You.💪😉💚
New viewer subscribing. Love the Kraig A style and you put you own spin on it. The goats were comical. Like that you are not ultra light. That was a very very physically challenging route and well done with a heavy pack! Navigation looked tricky too so thanks for the extra filming effort through all of that.
Awesome video, great film, and amazing sound edit. Hope you enjoyed this mountain paradise, and you are welcome again to enjoy more of this beautiful land in north of Spain. Well Done, Good Job!!!
It was my pleasure to watch the premier and I came back to watch it again. After finishing my TMB trip, I've been watching hiking films a lot and found your channel through your TMB video. All your films are breathtaking and I hope you continue the efforts! Looking forward to seeing your next work. Stay safe and strong! Best wishes for your future adventures.
I did this walk about 8 years ago. Sadly, memory is fickle and now I don't remember much of the walk. Wonderful video, it brought back some memories. Thanks!
This made my day. Another inspiring hiker making sublime videos. I love the way you frame your shots, and take the smaller details of your surroundings, not just the landscapes and the hiking itself. And the Picos de Europa… mountains that sit on the edge of everyone’s awareness. I was there in 1988, and this brought back so many memories. As a fellow video hiker who is just starting out with video and sound, I’m curious what camera you use, and what microphone you got the walking and cowbell sounds with. I imagine you were trying to go as light as possible. I currently use an old Olympus OM-D EM-1, which can only do 1080 k, a DJI Pocket 2, which isn’t weather resistant, and an old Olympus PCM recorder with binaural microphones for the sound. I think this is still heavy, so I’m looking for something more compact, but with good image quality and sound. Do you follow Kraig Adams’ system, or something more compact and lighter?
Thank you! I agree, there are so many beautiful places people don't even know about. For my gear, check out harmenhoek.com. My gear isn't really lightweight, and I bring an extra (heavy) lens and a whole lot of batteries since I'm also shooting timelapses. But to me that's worth it, and tbh it doesn't really bother me.
Gracias
I have watched many of your videos in the past week and I love it so much as many people have also commented likewise here. I still do not understand how you are able to shoot video by yourself at times but more remarkable than that and even more than the majestic scenery, is your poise through it all. You seem to have no fear. You walk and sleep through storms and nightfall where ever you may be, solo and carefree.
Hello,I live in Cantabria to 100 km from Picos de Europa and I feel a lucky person for this. In summer when I am bathing in the beach (San Vicente de la Barquera) I can see Picos de Europa from the beach and os very gratifying.
Wat een schoonheid, de Picos natuurlijk maar vooral hoe de reis in beeld is gebracht, zó rustgevend, met veel gevoel voor sfeer en compositie, goed gedoseerde afwisseling in de beelden. Adembenemend... 💚

I saw the thumbnail photo on reddit the other day and saved it and today I got the recommendation for the same video...thanks 🔥🔥
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
How I imagine walking in minecraft world would feel
Hahaha
Wow, such a great place to live in.
Insanely beautiful view from the tent 🏕
