I love these adventures you take us on Tom. It’s interesting that colour is turning so early, but it means we can look forward to some great Autumn vlogs soon. I think you used the conditions and the flat light you had very well. You created great images with wonderful mood, that was perfect for the subject, I love the shapes those trees made. I can’t believe the fog disappeared so quickly, it was so thick when you first got up. Thanks again for sharing this mate!

I really like that horizontal photo of the tree. The bands of clouds in the sky combined with the tree and the heather make for a really solid shot! Solid video as usual!

Another belter Thomas. You highlighted your common theme which crops up repeatedly throughout your videos about taking time to work out the composition and having the ability to say no, the light is no good, so I'm not taking the shot. Such an important lesson to get away from machine gun mode and one I am slowly taking on board. Quality not quantity. Marry that with KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid - and you are in a good place.

Love heather in early autumn in the Alps, if you have yellowish grass, the contrast is insane at the golden hour. If you like trees like that, you should definitely go to Australia. The eucalypts, especially mallee growing eucalypts (multi trunks) are gorgeous as a composition subject. Tasmania in particular is a favorite spot of mine, or the Australian Alps with the snow gums.

Sometimes, to get good separation between layers of mountains in the distance, I take my good 'ole 2 inch brush, and tap the photo while pushing up slightly, and then sweeping back and forth - just barely grazing the negative - and that gives the illusion of some happy mist.

Hey Thomas. Great video, as usual. There's a great Scottish word that describes the conditions you encountered after the mist had lifted. It's 'dreich' and there's a reason why we have a word for it up here;-) Do not pronounce the 'ch' as a 'k'. Just try to clear the midges from your throat and you'll nail the pronunciation. The same goes for when you say loch, it's not a lock:-)

Absolutely love the images & in the 2nd image, the colour of the heather is just so lovely of which it comes across in the video in lush detail :) It's a shame the fog/mist didn't play ball the next morning, but as you say Autumn is upon us! Another good video, thanks much. May I ask a question? About how many photos do you take when out photographing? You see so well disciplined, keeping your camera tucked away until you find "the" shot for your location. I struggle with taking far too many shots, and believe I do this due to my uncertainty of what I'm capturing. Would love to hear your thoughts on this subject. Again thanks so much for producing such good content.
