  • Nice to see you here again!
    In todays video I share my thoughts on why I don't need all the racy features of the great Canyon Aeroad, and how I want to spend the extra money on experiences to bring you guys better content!
    And also let me know if you guys think that the Canyon Grizl can function as a Road bike aka All road bike?
    - What upgrades would you make to the Canyon Grizl?

    Total gear junkie here and I’ve had 5 bikes in the last 2-3 years . Road bikes and gravel bikes. I finally landed on the specialized crux expert and I’m very happy with the bike!! I’m currently running 35mm sworks mondo tires .
    I also have the new super six evo and a grizl. I decided to put the super six for sale and I’m planning on making the grizl an everyday flat bar gravel bike for fun

    For me the gravel bike is only for bad weather and the colder months but also there I mostly prefer to ride via Zwift… would miss the Sport factor in the summer, just to be fast, aggressive and competitive while a gravel ride is more chill to me, there I also ride without powermeter because I know that I would ride more for fun than for training

    • @tobiasTbager
      @tobiasTbager  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally get that!
      The position is probably also the biggest downside in the Grizl if you want to sit aggressive and be racy.
      However most of the races I tend to participate in are longer gravel races. So for it was just a matter of prioritizing the type of riding I like the most.
      Would love to have both a gravel and a road bike at some point again :))

    Ever since I bought a bike that can take bigger tires I have not touched my old Trek Madone with 25mm tires. I'm very much considering the Grizl has my all rounder bike. Maybe with an extra set of wheels with some 32mm slicks. Most of my rides are road to gravel and maybe a bit of single track. Think the Grizl is good for all that or should I got Grail and be "limited" to 42 mm tires?

    • @tobiasTbager
      @tobiasTbager  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I think I would go for the Grizl as it has the clearance for 50 mm and is a bit more classic looking.
      Although I will say that if the grail had a normal handlebar I would probably be more inclined to recommend that. Love the internal storage!

    • @scottamy404

      @@scottamy404 Hah yeah I guess compared to the old Grail you would call it "Normal" but to me it's nothing like a standard handlebar.

    • @tobiasTbager
      @tobiasTbager  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @scottamy404 Hmm maybe not that weird, I just think it’s a shame that you can’t choose the width and change out the stem length easy. You know typical problems with an integrated cockpit.
      If it fits you probably no worry :)
      Just like the simplicity of the grizl that’s all

    If you want a more aggressive position, get a Crux and two wheel sets: done! Otherwise, why not be chilled on the Grizl?

    • @tobiasTbager
      @tobiasTbager  ปีที่แล้ว

      The crux is such a cool bike for racing! However with my economy at the moment as a student I just get so much more bike for the money at Canyon. So that’s basically why I want to make the Grizl just a bit more aggressive.
      But I also don’t want to make it too aggressive as I still really enjoy bike packing and stuff like that where speed is not my main concern 😃

    • @marcowalther7867
      @marcowalther7867 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tobiasTbager I get it. The Crux is not cheap. I sold two bikes to finance it. And, if you want to still go packing, it won't serve the purpose.

    Get 25 mm road bike tires, you got yourself a roadbike. You'll have to voluntarily take a more aggressive riding position, I have achieved this by tweaking with the height of my seatpost and the positioning of the seat. But, I guess all this is known to everyone. 😂

    • @tobiasTbager
      @tobiasTbager  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have been thinking about that. But I’m a bit imitated by the clearance for the front chainring. At the moment Canyon says that it is able to fit a 42 and maybe a 44 t chainring 😅
      And for the position the stem is slammed at the moment. But I might invest in a longer stem and a narrower handlebar 😃

    • @SanJuan39
      @SanJuan39 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tobiasTbagerYeah, agree with the stem change. But the 42 or 44t chainring might need tinkering (or replacement) with the front and rear derailleur. It would also be a tad expensive or some extra work. On the other hand, you need a bigger chainring or the road bike peloton will drop you.
      But yeah riding a gravel bike on the road with gravel tires is no fun.
      All the best, look forward to the video of the conversion.

    • @tobiasTbager
      @tobiasTbager  ปีที่แล้ว
