Love it... Spent the day out bushcrafting and woodcarving then came home, lifted weights, and am now sitting down eating a hot meal watching someone do what I did all day in a completely different part of the world. There is something so satisfying and therapeutic about watching a fellow woodsman and craftsman do their thing. Excellent work and video, definitely subscribing!

Cool seeing a Korean using Swedish, Swiss European tools/methods to carve a traditional European cup. The Brother did a fine job. Cultural appropriation. NO! Simply a guy finding merit in another cultures ways and following them. Carve on Bro! Thumbs up!
culture appropriation should be exclusively used to stop people from mocking another culture. If you respectfully take inspiration, or just use it because it works for you, it's never cultural appropriation, it's the most basic way people learn from each other, like they always had

In northern Scandinavia the kuksa/kåsa is traditionally made from the round out-growths that you some times find on birch trees. The kåsa usually has this traditional beak at the front just as you made it and the handle sometimes resembles a abstract head of a grouse so that the whole kåsa is reminiscent of a grouse. The really fine ones don't have flat bottom but are round all the way on the underside but will still ballance nicelly on a flat table. The round bottom is also easier to ballance on the ground when you are out in nature while a flat bottom needs a flat area to sit right. Nice video, I enjoyed watching this.
Ahh this was so wholesome. Fantastic care for tools, quality of visual craft in camera angles, acknowledgement of first aid and spider frens. I also stick my ax in things and then tap them to cut! I learned so much from this. I am inspired to start carving my spoons again. Thankyou.

Thank you for posting. I watched this a few years ago and watched again today and it's a pleasure to watch you work. The kuksa is just a beautiful piece of art. You are very skillful. May God bless.
One of the factors that makes Kukris so effective is they combine chopping(with weight) and slicing(with angle), its satisfying seeing the axe you're using have a similar effect. I want that axe :)
@@laurenceranking810 it's way easier to avoid with hand tools like this! As long as you're careful around axes, adzes, chisels, and gouges, you're pretty unlikely to hurt yourself seriously

Muy buen trabajo! Excelentes herramientas.
Thank you for your comments. I agree with you that tools are as important as hands. And don't forget that it takes a lot of effort to get used to the tools. Take care.
He just cut the excessive material? ...... LOL ...... carefully cutting just the excessive material is actually the real art in each of us .... ask David how careful was Michael and his assistants which later a demonic Pope chopped a valuable part of.... theses demons also destroyed much of the Mayans and their knowledge ..... lots of beautiful things inside the rough!
Wow. Simply wow. The quality of this video is actually perfection. Probably one of the better ones i've ever seen. Pure quality. Thank you so much for this!
In just the first few minutes, I got some ideas about how I might make a small woodland workbench and how to "clamp" things in it. I notice your hatchet has a very broad, sweeping blade - great for this type of work, but most hatchets are not like that. When you are cutting the bowl down, how do you know not to go too deep? Can you tell me about your hatchet - who made it, how you selected it, do you have other hatchets you use for different purposes? This video is sort of like an ASMR video, and I really enjoyed watching and just hearing the chopping and carving noises - you did multiple great jobs: on the woodworking, on the audio, and the video! Thank you so much - I am glad to have found this! ;)
Fantastic video - I'm going to drag out my carving tools, sharpen them and start making a cup. Nice to see some good axe work as well - I have been trying to teach my friends to use an axe more than just for chopping.
It looks like you are cutting the petas of a flower, free from the wood, to reveal what is within the wood. A beautiful process when executed properly by a n Artist.
Great video. Thanks for not using music. The natural sounds are the real music.
