LHB (LINKE HOFMANN BUSCH) FIAT BOGIE EXAMINATION AT PIT LINE | PRIMARY MAINTENANCE OF LHB BOGIE

  • During daily primary maintenance of train at pit line, under gear and air brake system of the train has to examine at washing / pit line yard. LHB coaches have fiat bogie and it has to examine during primary maintenance of the train rake.
    LHB Bogie has following parts and it has to examine -
    i. frame - made with welding of casted & steel parts
    ii. wheel set - combination of wheel & axle,
    iii. Primary and Secondary Suspension - outer springs, inner springs, lower & upper spring guide, bump stop, etc.
    iv. Control Arm, Anti-roll bar, control cables, traction rod, etc.
    v. Dampers - Primary vertical dampers, secondary vertical dampers, Yaw dampers, Lateral dampers,
    vi. Bolster, longitudinal and cross member of bogie,
    vii. Brake system - calipers, brake disk, links, bushes, etc.
    Traditional visual inspections and manual checking with gauges has been replaced by automatic inspection systems that compare wheel profiles of vehicles passing through an inspection building with computer based data profiles. Trackside systems are also used to monitor wheel behaviour. Similar systems are used for bakes pads, discs and pantographs for current collection. On-board systems provide train system performance checks and report to the maintenance centre via wifi downloads at regular intervals.
    LHB bogie examination carried out following inspection -
    1. Under-gear Examination - Electrical (checking cable/wiring, battery box, pumps, WSP, etc.)
    2. Under-gear Examination - Mechanical (check any hanging out of under gear parts)
    3. Air brake testing (brake caliper, brake piping, fitting, check brake engaging & releasing time, brake disk, etc.)
    4. Bogie Suspension - check all dampers, primary & secondary springs, fitments, torques checking, etc.
    5. Wheel tapping testing - wheel shelling, flattening, etc.
