Because engineers and scientists use litres and kilograms. I’m in my 50s and have only used metric measures. Though fuel economy, I measure in miles per gallon, unless doing some calculations when I convert it to miles per litre. If driving electric I use miles per kWh, not kilometres per kilowatt hour. I guess I’m some sort of mutant hybrid.
