I wasnt planning on getting an EV, but FSD is what will push me to finally make the move and get a Tesla.
I’d wait until FSD 15-20 for most of the major bug to be worked out of the current 12v system.
@@rainbowsixODSTat that point it’s literally level 3-4 autonomy👍🏼 so yeah if you’re waiting for a car to literally drive you 90% of the time then sure😜
you’re going to love it
Me too
EVs are truly soo nice to own but, autonomy is a game changer
I love that you didn’t edit out any of the quirks or bad parts of the drive. It helps people maintain more realistic expectations and gives it more credibility. Thanks for the video Omar!
Yep authenticity is always the better option…I appreciate that.
Yes, people should have 'realistic expectations' : FSD is not safe to trust your life, or your family's safety. Not even close.
@@DerekDavis213
It has been safer than human drivers for a while now, as long as you pay attention. If you want to keep your family safe, you buy a Tesla and let FSD drive. Teslas are much safer anyway.
@@andrasbiro3007 Stop saying this! It is not safer than a human. A human plus FSD is 11X safer. System alone is not even close to being as safe as a human. A human has an accident once every 18 years on average in the USA. This would have caused an accident every 5-10 miles.
@@themidgetsman quick google search shows -1.3 million humans each year from car accidents with 20 - 50 million injuries
Humans are not safer not by a long shot. Stop spreading misinformation.
Dramatically better than any experience I've had with FSD 11.
Just realized... Whole Mars Catalog = Omar's Catalog.
Mind blown.
the stop sign at 28:38 is buried way up in that tree that city needs to fix that asap!! upvoted!!!
Amazing to see this and how far FSD has come. Can’t wait for my car to get the update.
I hadn't really watched any of these videos for probably 6 months to a year. It's really amazing how much smoother and consistent it is.
It is so relative. It's so easy to forget how bad it was in the beginning and how, over the years, it has gotten better and better.
I get the feeling that we are just a few years away from a self driving system so good you do not need to pay much attention, just be able to take control on the rare events it gets stuck (say in a neighborhood where two cars are parked too close to let you through)
@@jacobnunya808 Watching Omar's videos makes me think V12 is months away, not years! Fingers crossed!
@@jacobnunya808I still dream of a time when the roads will be filled with only drivers with AI, and then driving will be completely different because they will make them talk to each other and use information about the road ahead/behind and the position of pedestrians from phones or even neuralinks. Then you just won't need to unnecessarily slow down and create traffic jams because you already know where the road is full or will be full soon.
@@IqweoR The economic and safety implications are huge. Vision is a fine step to making a self driving car on today's roads but it would by no means optimize traffic flow.
@@IqweoR
This is exactly what I think it will take in the end
I wonder if the reason it's so hesitant at stop signs because of the reaction to the NHTSA issue with rolling stops. So the data they train it on for stop signs is the most hesitant drivers possible.
Elon specifically stated that they had to train it on the 1% of occurrences where people actually came to a complete stop.
@@trengilly01True but notice in the video how it’s more so a hesitation at the stop sign even after stopping
I remember spending an entire day training v12A to learn stop signs for that exact reason and it performed as it legally should... would any of us normally drive like that, no.
Agree. Extra cautious. For now…
Has to be because of NHTSA--only training data of full stops coming from literally the worst drivers who refuse to go at a 4-way stop even when the right-of-way is theirs so it's utterly afraid to go if there's any other vehicle there and super hesitant even when there isn't.
This is quite impressive. We're almost at the point where we're just knitpicking minor issues. Im excited to watch FSD 12 continue to improve.
It’s not a nitpick if it can potentially cause a life ending accident. Im all in on tesla but you cant just sleep in the car and have it drive it will cause an accident PERIOD and that is NOT a nitpick. Once you can 100% not pay attention and the car doesnt cause an accident any remaining MINOR issues will be at that point nitpicks
@@zandercerlong9693wow that was harsh.
As I’m sure you are well aware FSD in the early days tried to kill you on a regular basis.
A nit pick is things that are not dangerous, like accelerating slower than you would.
So far I have not seen a single disengagement?
Where are you seeing all this accident causing behaviour?
Also remember no Hokan is 100% safe , they crash all the time.
@@zandercerlong9693 you could easily sleep in this video. It was very catuious
@@NadenAnd there will be other drives where you can't sleep.
@@Naden lol NO not easily that was a short drive and didnt encounter any edge cases, let him do that to and from work for a month straight while on the computer working 100% no paying attention with no need for intervention then any remaining problems could be labeled a nitpick. It CANNOT do that & a mistake which it will absolutely make at this point could end your life that in no way could be a labeled a nitpick. More like they will be picking up your body parts
I prefer these drives with commentary
Wow. Your commentary really helps. As an early FSD adopter I’m thrilled. I’ve been frustrated here in San Diego - the most previous updates have been poor, to say the least. Phantom breaking, slow decisions at stops, etc. This is VERY encouraging. Remember, your FSD success may have something to do with your region. Great work.
3:23 wow; It did see that person before she got into the road in front you.
9:00 Dan O'Dowd gets schooled
14:18 Omar's "naysayer" voice
20:28 overly cautious of pedestrians
22:20 Omar berates the car
23:38 Good 4-way stop behavior
25:00 bad 3-way stop behavior
31:17 Omar preps for a parking ticket
Some additions nice
to be fair, why tf is there a 3 way stop in the middle of a road? that could easily be a single stop for those who are trying to incorporate to the main road. american roads are weird af
@@Supreme_Lobster maybe because of the turn that is near.
I've never experience FSD myself, but I've watched hundreds of hours of content on it. I can definitely tell the drive is smoother. Even the steering wheel moves more naturally.
I ❤ FSD!!! I just can’t wait to get this. Thank you for this and keep them coming with audio and commentary please.
Another great video. This video proves that I made the right choice when I purchased FSD 3 months ago. Thanks and keep up the good work informing the masses.
Thank you for sharing your experiences! I’m so excited about this now. I have always known this would come together just had no idea how long it would really take. It feels really close now. Thanks again!
Love the commentary, really helps understand how awesome and improved v12 is. Thank you
Parking tickets aside V.12.2 seems amazing! Thanks for sharing this epic FSD video. Have a great night.
I have v11.4.9 and the difference is huge. There's definitely more smooth driving. Can't wait to try it.
For an early V12 build that was really impressive
Watched your first v12 videos... love you commentary one better! Great job!
I loved the ending...it identifies as handicapped! That was overall super impressive; truly amazing.
Hallelujah finally audio and commentary.
Thanks Omar, I love your cool, calm and informative commentary.
Woot woot - huge improvement! Much smoother - I would accept cautiousness over aggressiveness and uncertainty. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦 new subscriber
It saw the 2 trucks were together and didn't wanna split them apart ❤
That was my thought too 😂
Thanks once again for creating and sharing your experiences.
Oh this video is so marvelous with great footage and great commentaries explaining everything.
You picked some of the nicest routes in SF. Brings up beautiful memories.
Excellent coverage, thanks!
Great video! I haven't been excited about an FSD update in a long time, but I am really excited to get V12!
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing. So exciting! I have been testing FSD V11 on my Model Y and have had some major problems. So excited to see this massive move froward.
Great FSD video. Ive seen many of these issues and love my FSD. Ive been using it since 2018 and cant drive without it
The vids you post on x didn’t hasn’t commentary, this was much more helpful in convincing me to try it. I’ll subscribe to fsd on my birthday in a couple weeks if v12 is out by then.
Tesla is the best car company and no maintenance no gas stations no oil changes no smog check no belts no hoses no spark plugs no air filters no radiator no alternator no starter
As a European I am amazed how many stop singns there are in this drive! Seems so inconvenient!
Here we rely much more on yield signs and roundabouts
Same here, there are little to no stop signs, you either simply yield to the car on your right or check road signs who has priority to cross. US road rules are just... Weird and time wasting at best.
wow this was incredible, thanks for sharing!
This man has been putting out some quality content in combination with Tesla
I cannot wait to try V12 on the obstructed B-pillar camera intersections near my house. Right now I cannot use FSD until I leave my neighborhood. Note- you don't have to say "take me to" just say the destination name and FSD knows what to do. Also hope it knows how to handle an intersection when the Stop sign is 30-40 feet from the intersection. We have lots of those where I live. Human knows to go right to the intersection and stop. FSD stops at the stop sign and then takes 10 seconds to creep jerkily forward.
Much improved over the latest release on my model Y! If you're ever in San Jose, try it on some of our "road diet" roads. They've converted the far right lane so that half is a bike lane and the other half is a buffer zone. Lot's of solid and dashed lines with right turn breaks at intersections and driveways, plus pylons here and there, all of which confuses the hell out of FSD. A few times it tried to enter the bike/buffer lane thinking it's a vehicle lane!
Incredible. I’ve been watching these videos for years and the progress is undeniable. I really appreciate your commentary. Also very much appreciate that the drive is in real time. Makes it easier to imagine I’m in the car being driven by FSD. One funny thing: when you said “this will save the life of someone you love” I said to myself, “and you’ll never know”. Then a second later, you verbalized my thoughts. People won’t know that they’ve had their life spared, but as the statistics accumulate it will be undeniable. Someday the world will look back on drunk driving, teenage car crashes, head-on collisions due to sleepy drivers, etc as a dark chapter in human history.
Awesome experience watching this vid. Appreciate your dedication.
If you get a chance to tackle a pothole ridden road, with no line markings, that will help us gauge if it’s ready for Australian rural conditions. 🙏
Indeed. The drive looks amazing. Such a difference. Cheers
Wow, very smooth! Big improvement.
Looks a lot more decisive and refined... great progress so far
Is there a reason why you're not getting all the notifications? are you wearing sunglasses?
Commentary much appreciated!!
Mars, thanks. Only had a few minutes to grab a first impression, magic.
The “pulling to the side of the road” is huge. Once it identifies emergency lights and pulls to the side that will be a game changer.
Wow the Full stop. Mind boggling fantastic.
Overall very impressed. Much better than I’ve seen with any v11 build. Time to release to general pop.
This is a huge step forward!!!
Great job, what a relief , calm driving
Great video. I enjoy the commentary.
That was too fun . Thanks for the ride !
V12A was always smoother to drive than the older versions even though I had the raw alpha. Much improved
Very interesting issue at 18:00. Great to see the progress on the streets! Looks like they're making steady progress and as they have more testers, will iron out more issues. Would be cool to see during the rains/storm that's forecast soon
Thanks Omar 😊
Absolutely excellent. Except that little disappointment at 20:50. Indeed you are right the v11 did that kind of thing perfectly. A little regression there
Thanks for putting this out there for those of us who own stock etc but not cars - so we see the state of advancements.
Excellent commentary. It kept me engaged in an otherwise uneventful driving video.
Wow. Amazing. 100X better than my horrific experience today.
Thanks for the tour. I haven't been to San Francisco since '62. I was six years old.
It's interesting that we can now see the stop signs we're gonna have up ahead on the map.
I’m stunned. It’s amazing.
That was impressive. First one I’ve watched in about a year
At 17:45, I think it just realized the destination is on the same parking lot that it already reached, so it just steered on the side to allow you to park where you want. It made a lot of sense to me.
Can't wait for full rollout and then to be a few months in!
The car waiting to start a separate trip until the accelerator is pushed may be a feature, not a bug. You may have entered the new trip address, but you could be waiting for another passenger. So, a feature, IMO.
Thanks for the upload. Can you let us know if the missing Tesla Vision features have been added? I.e. Summon....?
Incredible, well done 👍
“Early build” “when it’s smoothed out”
We’ve heard it for years
Its improving to be fair. I remember 3 years ago every 5 minutes thered be atleast 1 disengagement.
It was refreshing to hear "go you stupid car!". that's my chant whenever I use FSD. Good to know even the biggest fan boys experience that too.
Just go and watch videos from a year ago, you had bunch of disagreements over short period of time, now biggest issue is with car waiting longer than expected to start going after new destination is set and maybe waiting too long on cross roads if there is more complicated situation, both instances are tiny and could be fully ignored.
This is basically the final fundamental change to this entire system, its end to end, so no more huge rewrites, it only needs more training data to get better.
Thank you for the video. Some of the lonely roads are safe. Please drive on Van Ness for Lombard past 101 into the Mission to see how it compares to Waymo on city driving.
Tremendous improvements 🎉
This is so cool, just can’t get enough of it V12 action.
Are you the only of to get V12 as I have not seen any other videos?
It looks amazing, cant wait to see how it performs in 3 or 4 months already! Amazing progress from Tesla!
I’m so excited about this coming to my car soon!
"Go, you stupid car" ....too funny. V12 looks great!
i love it
FSD is the feature
Let's go! So glad you got an early crack at it this could be the build to end all builds
I am going to buy FSD 12 as soon as available to general public. this is life saver technology
9:10 Dan Odowds worst nightmare 😂
At minute 31 you arrived at a parking lot. I think it let you choose to park (where you wanted to), or continue on. NICE
Awesome. Thanks Omar.
I liked it a lot. Great video.
wow. this one is impressive. (unlinke the driving in the "square design SF" downtown. cannot wait to have it here in europe!
Looking good. Omar, what setting did you have for this drive? Chill Average Assertive? Sometime it would be informative to do the same drive with the different settings to show what the difference is.
I think he put on average I think u can see when he puts the thing where it automatically sets the speed by road type
Beautiful! It's practically fsd.
Looks pretty good on this drive - limited interaction with traffic but still a huge jump toward human-like behavior. Hope you see some improvements incrementally - does it take a fully download on an update or does it add incremental changes on the fly ?
Great video! What version of FSD HW are you using?
So cool!! Do you have the turn by turn navigation of this trip?
I can't believe you didn't have your foot hovering over the brake when all those kids were crossing in front of you...
What model is your Tesla? I like the dashboard but not sure it’s needed. But, very nice. Excellent demo of FSD 12.1.2. Can’t wait to try it out in Florida in all weather conditions. Nice to see some of the Bay Area. Hadn’t seen that view of the Golden Gate Bridge in 40 years.
Looked pretty good to compared other FSD videos I've seen. Be interesting to see it in a few weeks to see how it has improved.
Compared with many human drivers also.😊
Excellent drive
31:28 that’s so sweet that it finally parks I hope it parks when it gets to my house
Mind Blown! Which version of HW do you have on the car?
Parking at handicap makes sense to me since we are not using our hands or legs for the whole drive. 😂. I couldn't wait to see a few more updates
it’s amazing and mind blowing that peace of technology ❤ it’s getting so good. Forget all that negativity and hoping that more and more people are convinced. Nice video 😊
My biggest gripe with FSD so far, is the car wanting to change lanes in city driving. It may perceive the other lane is moving faster, but if I’m within 1-2 miles of making a turn, I want to stay in that lane. I don’t mind it wanting to move into a faster lane on the highway, but it really pisses me off on city drives. Even being in chill, and minimize lane changes doesn’t matter.
Minimize lane changes needs to be a latching button so we don’t have to set it everytime we start a drive. It would be nice if it was an option for the long press on left scroll wheel!
I hope v12 solves this.
