    Tip for tourists: be very careful and alert on the NYC subway and transit system. Crime is high and just be as alert as possible of your surroundings! It’s even scary at the moment for current commuters and New Yorkers so just be careful.

      Agree, got scammed on 49th St last weekend. Trying to use the machine for the MTA card, was taking my time, guy behind me said he was in a rush, said he'd help out..

    • @richardevans7646
      @richardevans7646 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gave me a card, said the machine not working, but it was, so took cash for the card, 60 dollars was around 30 dollars on the card..so warning is if anyone wants to offer help and not wearing the right uniform don't accept it, say thank you but can sort it yourself

      I went in January and again in March. In January people were plastered to the subway walls to prevent from getting pushed onto the tracks, and in March it had lightened up and police presence on each and ever platform and train car. Go, go , go NYC we've got this

    • @carolbenson8963
      @carolbenson8963 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@jackieny9914 it’s quite scary at the moment. I take the train probably around 5-6 times a week (within Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens) and each time I enter the subway, all jokes aside, I take a deep breath and have to calm myself down before entering. From being throw up on, harassed by homeless mentally unstable people who literally live in the subway system, sexually harassed with disgusting unwarranted comments, and actually threatened it’s far from safe although it’s one of my primary methods of transportation. The days my boyfriend offers to drive me honestly are such blessings and I feel 100% more safe. I would also like to add that I have lived here my entire life and know my stations very well (where to hold my bag a little tighter to my side or which stations to attempt to avoid due to high crime especially in Brooklyn ), but being a tourist I can see how this form of transit could be altogether threatening and not worth it. And with uber and taxi prices raising with the crime rates, it’s just honestly a mess. If visiting NY again just like you said, stand as close as you can to the walls to avoid being a potential victim or “easy target.” As well, research which stations to be extra cautious and do not strike up conversation with strangers unless completely necessary/ answer anyone near you since you never know their intent. Also, never enter a very empty train car since there is most likely a reason its empty. Usually being extra smelly, someone homeless causing a stir, someone rude who is harassing others, or any potential danger. All this said, I love NYC and honestly wouldn’t leave. The NYC transit however, needs to be changed ASAP before more lives are taken.

      @@carolbenson8963 thanks I’m actually moving to riverdale next month and looking forward to being reliant on the trains everyday. My boyfriend uses the buses now because like you, he has encountered a bit too much of the homeless issues. I’m so upset with our current administration and prior administrations for not addressing the homeless mentally I’ll problem as though they’re non existent. Here in la it’s like a summer camp set up every ten blocks only not fun like a summer camp. We need to take care of humans for crying out loud

      Hi there! Fellow New Yorker here to give the New Yorkers guide to New York! Also don’t go to the bs tourist attractions. Eat at local diners and cafés, play sports at pier 6, 5, and 2, and in Central Park. Cadman plaza. Also go biking around Manhattan. Best part of New York in my opinion. Also go to the restaurant Jackson Hole on the east, I think it’s around 60th. Just don’t go on the subway to deep Brooklyn. Brooklyn Heights is also nice. Walk across park Ave and Lexington (lex)- very thrilling. The regency hotel hosts most ambassadors- in fact I saw joe Biden there once. Bilao is a rly great Philippine restaurant , along with Cibao. The MoMA is great for you old folks who like boring museums. The oculus is great, but don’t shop there it’s a tourist trap (id assume I’ve never actually been there myself). Also id go to battery park and visit the mall there, and u should prolly go to the regal battery park there too. The best place to go for movies in NYC tho is Alamo Drafthouse. Even if it’s not a movie ur super excited to see, it’s one of the best movie experiences in the country. The Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building are for suckers (no respectable New Yorker has ever gone there in their life), and go to Bryant park. Also don’t go to disgusting New Jersey. Long Island is okay- pretty boring though (it’s the Florida for New Yorkers). The upper east side is better than the upper west, Brooklyn heights is better than the west, the upper west side is better than all lower Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn, and that’s pretty much it! New Yorker’s guide to New York :) have fun in the greatest city in the world! -I forgot to mention SOHO btw

      My husband is from nyc and all his loved ones live there. It is currently HORRIBLE there. So much crime, robberies, murders, gang and gun violence. It does not feel at all as safe as it used to. You feel like you’re walking on edge when you’re walking throughout the city. It is not at all how it was a good 5 years ago. It has severely declined. Just wanted to let you know our stance on the city. We used to go every month and don’t plan to go for awhile until it gets safer.

    I ended up getting COVID in NYC. Mask wearing is sketchy, and some don't wear it on the subway. It ruined my trip. It does not feel as safe or as fun as it did before COVID. I did not feel as at ease, and that would be true in many major cities seeing a COVID surge. It is a wonderful city but maybe - depending on COVID - it will be a better place to visit in the summer. I did not feel scared to take the subway or to walk around, as I come from a big city.

    Please address the rampant crime issue in New York. Else it would be a dis-service to subscribers to visit and be sliced up by ruthless criminals.

    As a lifelong new Yorker, DO NOT VISIT, is is a waste of your time spend your hard earned money traveling to a place thats actually fun and memorable. It is boring here, the fun things to do are short experiences that will waste your entire day and cost a lot. If your taking a week vacation here to eat food, do an escape room and go to museums, reconsider. So many other cities and states offer much more.

    This channel used to be good and helpful, but now it's full of affiliate marketing... There's nothing wrong with that Sarah, you're making money, and that's great.. but the ones that are looking for real help online can't get it here anymore...
