I've had one of these for years and its working perfect except i cannot get USB video files to play. I converted them to Divx but when i put the USB stick in video is greyed out. Anyone know what format/codec these units use for USB playback? Thanks
For starters get rubbing alcohol and remove the screws of the shelf and then clean the silver circle and spin it as goes put alcohol on the disc reader ban done
I had this for three years. I bought it at a PC Richard. It was great.
I just got this same player from a local thrift store for $5.. Some school donated 8 units
I hope it will last you for years! I have a VCR since 2005 and it still works.
Excuse me, is there a way to make the DVD player on the Toshiba SD-V296 VCR/DVD player region free?

Edgar1976...When you dub a VHS tape to a DVD on the Toshiba DVR620, which speed DVD (4x, 8x, or 16x)is to be used?
I would use SP to match the playback speed and also get the best picture quality ss possible
+Edgar1976 How did you make that Superman DVD-R?
4:51 What was that popping noise the player made? Is that normal?
Don't worry, its completely normal for these models to make that sound.
@@TheVCRKing It is?
@@supermariof0521 Yes. I promise.
@@TheVCRKing If you say so.
I have the same Toshiba . I put a vhs tape in and it acts like it’s going to play for 5 seconds and then it powers down. Do you know how to fix this?
It's the Mode switch, remove it and clean, common fault.

Piece of garbage, worst product you could own to transfer VHS tapes to DVD, use a PC you will get better results.
