We used to manufacture our own beauty products, but there are only a few left. I remember growing up in Chicago, we had Posner and Fashion fair manufacturing plants o. The Southside. In fact, my mother was a Cosmetologist, and all of the beauty supply store business licensing was controlled by the state's board of cosmetologist. You could not by professional beauty products without a cosmetology license. So, the majority of beauty supply stores were owned by black women in the 80's and early 90s, but The Asians started opening up a lot of store fronts, and black people started flocking to them..

@Monica Klapp sounds to me like hating darling. Dont be upset that black hair is the only true hair. All others is fur. Only our hair defy gravity while others lay limp. Our hair naturally has volume while others has to figure out how to thicken their fur. Its ok everyone isnt blessed to have our "nappy" hair. Stay blessed😘
Organigrow Hair Co. and The Natural Hair Lady both are black owned and provide natural haircare products...these are two among many others. We don't want uncomfortable freedom sadly...😣
Also, our hair is NOT nappy, it is naturally curly. If you look at a strand of your hair, you will see that it is curly, not straight. Nappy is white racisist word for our hair. We should NEVER use that word about ourselves. They have been ALWAYS jealous of us! If our hair was so bad, then why are they getting their hair braided like ours? Our hair is even stronger then theirs. The hair products they use give them fullness and body to their thin straight hair. We do not need to use those products. We naturally have body and fullness in our hair! Just think about this....our hair is naturally curly. So why would we straighten out our hair, only to curl it again? That is the definition of insanity. Doing something the same way and expecting a different result.

Bro, black women don't and won't listen.
@@KS-yj3gt Are you referring to the multiple articles about the same three beauty supply stores. Three is better than zero Iagree, but compared to the number of women who should but don't, And then complain about the treatment they recieve?
@@D-E-Raptor you want the thousands of Asian owned beauty supply stores to magically turn it to black owned?? Wishful thinking
When Black men build communities that supply everything we need and support Black women instead of chasing white ones we will really get somewhere.
@@kaybaby1573 Ha ha ha ha . You have been telling us that you don't need us for 50 years, we have now taken your advice and began to go our own way. Saving ourselves and watching as you get taken out by the current events.
Why don't you only buy black products. It's sad you still support them, stopped buying their products.
Don't worry things are changing. Like he said the natural hair movement destroyed the relaxer market. We are making progress.
They carry black owned products.
@@KS-yj3gt i am glad to hear this 👍🏾
Hi Phil, i'm from Alabama i was a child during Montgomery bus boycot. We had more families at that time that came together & would not ride buses in Montgomery period our people used their car pick people up & those who could walk did our people work together ,& thats what our people must come together inorder to succed . No backing out !!!
We had genuine leadership back then.
Lazy generation HOSS 🤠 don't want to do their own hair or get somebody who do natural hair.
I believe a NATIONWIDE BOYCOTT is what's needed it worked for MLK on a smaller level, if we take it NATIONWIDE, I believe we can create better legislation for our people!!
And. Blk women when we support y’all, please save the attitude
every afro-american store that sells products that can be shipped, should have Online sales as well, in my opinion. thank you Phil
Black women everywhere stop wearing weaves/wigs!! Problem solved...We, as a people have always been innovative.
All black women don’t wear weaves and wigs. All black women don’t go to beauty supply stores to buy weaves and wigs. They also purchase natural hair products. The point is people buy what they need for their own personal reasons. The issue is where and whom the suppliers are coming from.
The hair is sacrificed to idols/gods/demons and that keeps a curse on those that purchase and wears the India women hair. We should LOVE who we are and STOP 🛑 coveting others. The Most High has giving distinction between other races for a reason. We are to be SET-APART... DIFFERENT...! PERIOD 🔥🙏🏾😊❤️💪🏾🥰
I make my own braided units but no everyone knows how - that’s the ok the more reason to buy BLACK.
I'm opening up a small spa in a few months again. I will be doing nails, lashes, threading , skin and laser. I'm am licensed in these areas. I HOPE and pray that I will be supported by my own people! I wish we could get our supplies from African countries. The more we go natural and make it our priority by growing our new generation natural. And we order from our sisters and brothers and we need to get our relationship with them on the same page.
Even those black owned hair products have a lot of their lines in these Korean beauty stores. I try to buy from stores like Target for them, but it seems Korean stores has more product options/lines from those brands than a store like Target. The only way to buy what's not available in Target or other drugstores is either online or Korean stores.
This is so true. My uncle had a beauty supply store that failed and this is the very reason why it did so. They do not want us to succeed in a business that they are trying to monopolize.
@Slim Pickens you catch my drift. Let's not mince words.
Black stores buy Asian hairs and black hair no good ok
@Dia D this is hate
WELL.. STOP BUYING FROM THEM.
, hire an Asian guy and let him be the voice and face when dealing with them
WE HAVE TO STOP SUPPORTING PEOPLE WHO DO NOT LIKE US DO NOT RESPECT US. WE ALL WE GET.

Great comment!
And some Asians don't even really want you dining in their "higher end" resturants such as their sushi bars. They prefer for you to do carry out rather than dine in but prefer "other groups" to dine in.
Wow
Good. Support black people's businesses. Eat at home.

Yeah. You can feel it.
Thank you brother for saying this! I am a "natural" woman (formerly permed) and I really try to shop black-owned products at black-owned shops at every opportunity! From hair care products from shampoos to combs, to take out food, to the movies etc. I take my "green" where it is respected! 💚
I'm from Angola and i am very grateful for the African diaspora news channel. Black people around the world need to understand the power they have. Thanks for the clarification!
Control the purse, control change.

I want to see how long these people remain in business if we stop going to their stores.

Black men didn't like natural hair sol. Black women went back to buying & wearing hair again. Unfortunately, white men liked black women's natural hair, but most of the sisters wanted a black man. They changed back, and that's sent a strong message to us!
We need to start filing discrimination lawsuits on these people.
We need to start filing it on immigrants who only hire their countrymen or even only other immigrants. That's flat out discrimination.
Teach yourself how to shift into another mode easily. Give your business to someone else or create the something that you seek elsewhere. Boycotting is always a good idea. That is your economic power.
Just stop buying from them. Won't be any need to file lawsuit.
Damn That. Cut em Off.
SEPARATION from Them and any anti-black group is the key to our FREEDOM
Koreans own almost all the distributors of hair products and salon. They also own all of the distributors for local markets for mom n pop bodegas. They keep separate books of wholesale pricing one for them and one for blacks.
It sho ain't the same😣 1 for Asians and 1 for blacks
