Loosing that game without getting any injuries would have been a good result. To win it and to have players getting valuable minutes into their legs, with no injuries, is brilliant. It gives us another game, actually two games (two legs for the semi finals) where we can give more players even more minutes. I'm happy, well done Slot and team - YNWA \0/
I've always been a fan of Endo since he kept a player of Modric's quality quiet for 90 minutes in the Qatar World Cup when playing for Japan against Croatia. He may not be technically gifted with silky ball skills like Trent, but he doesn't go missing and posing for the TV cameras like Trent did way too often against Fulham at the weekend. What he gives is fighting spirit and work-rate and his attitude marks him as a model professional. Every team needs a sprinkling of players who are prepared to do what it takes to win, someone who will run through brick walls for the team. It was good to see Darwin getting on the scoresheet tonight; thought he took it well and, hopefully, it gives him a confidence boost. As for Chiesa, we'll need to be patient with him and not expect too much from him straight away given that he's not played much football for several months. We just need to get behind him and give him the love and support he needs to get back to his best. Up the mighty top-of-the-league Reds! YNWA!!!
I think the ref should have stopped the play there for that head injury. Especially given that it's the opponent that kicked the ball in his face!!! I've seen games paused for way less contact than that!!!! Refs have paused games for fake head injuries, yet this 1 was a flush in the face hit!!!! Or the face isn't considered the head for this ref!!!!???
When I saw how abysmal the weather was, all I asked for was no injuries. The win and good performance from Harvey, Endo, etc was a bonus. Chiesa did look slightly off physically but he showed moments of class
it’s nice to see Endo get some game time and it was great to see him play so well. Probably the best 15 million any team in the premiership has spent in the last few years. Top professional!Tremendous value for money.
Enjoyed, good performance. Controlled the game for large parts up till their goal. Saw it out, good performance and result. Quansah, great game looked rock solid. Endo got stuck in and showed heart. Elliott, nice goal. Nunez, worked hard and showed composure, in his finish. Nyoni, solid game. Chiesa, great to see, showed off his skill, passing and was unlucky not to get a goal near the end, good half from him. Nice to see Danns feature also. Amazing bit of play from Trent for Darwins goal. Really wanted to see Ngumoha, maybe an appearance for 3-0 rather than 2-1. Onto the semis and Spurs next
Very shrewd use of the squad by Slot, he keeps coming up with the tactics to get the win and maintain momentum as we move into a key period of the season. Now to prepare for Spurs. who knows which Spurs will turn up on Sunday!
Great result. People can say it’s only Southampton but they gave us a tough game there a few weeks ago and we went there without ten first team players tonight. Shows Liverpool’s depth as Arsenal had to throw on all their big hitters to get through at home to Palace. Getting through to the semis keeps the season alive for the likes of Kelleher, Quansah, Endo, Chiesa etc which can’t be underestimated also so it’s great news all round.
decent performance, excellent from Endo (Matthaus tribute act) & Morton, but i worry that we progressed. sounds daft but these 2 or 3 extra games could cost us. I hope we see even fewer seniors in the semis, regardless of the draw.
@@bojack3827 Appreciate him while he's here. Won everything at a ridiculously young age. The one stumbling block is, after 20 years, Ancellotti appears to have lost his mojo.
How so? We are talking about a quality player here, not any other. Has served the club with distinction. If your only argument against, is because he is a Fb then it's a flimsy one. Leaving negotiations till late will always shift the balance of power to the player.
Thanks David.Phew! I was glad when it was over.Didn't want penalties! I trust Kelleher, but not sure if i could trust the takers ,from among we had on the pitch.Still, job done just the same.👏👏👏I get why Slot rested some for the title race,,& great opportunity to give young Academy guns some time.YNWA ❤🔴
thanks David, great summary. I think the number of games is perfect. Being thro' in the CL, means the Cup teams can use the remaining CL matches for prep.... I am feeling like this is a great result and only drives the youngsters to get into the starting line up... bring on Rio!!!
Slightly worried about the ever-increasing workload but, then again, we used a LOT of players who aren't necessarily 'first choice' and so there'll be a lot of energy left in a lot of legs! The first half was absolutely dominant, almost to the point of tedium! The second half showed the changed lineup taking a while to become accustomed to what they were doing and where but we got it together enough to deal with whatever southampton had to offer. Trey was absolutely brilliant and Endo as good as I've ever seen him! Not long 'til we hear a tune Mr Lynch? Hmm?... Cheers mate, nice one and astute as ever!! 👍👍👍
Don't understand why Slot doesn't deploy Endo more as a "closer" when Liverpool has a lead after ~75 minutes and isn't chasing the game, to give Gravenberch, Sobo, and Macca a breather. Endo is obviously not Slot's starter but he is a very capable DM off the bench to help protect leads and close out games.
Quality & comprehensive coverage as always Lynchy! All’s left now is for you to pick up the guitar (over your shoulder) and strum us a sweet reds lullaby. 🎶 🎵 🎤
Endo is a class act, the consummate professional and yes a warrior. I agree with David and hope he gets more opportunities to contribute and compete. He won’t disappoint. 👍👍👍
Does anyone else think that Slot purposely got his third yellow card in the Fulham game knowing that he would only miss a cup game and his yellow card tally would reset? Maybe…?
If no one is carrying knocks from Southampton then Liverpool can start Sunday with everyone available, bar Konate & Bradley (due back Boxing Day). That's the strongest the squad has been since Slot arrived. Spurs have 8 players ruled out and aren't a tough tackling side. There is a chance that Slot can end 2024 higher up the table with a bigger gap to 2nd and have everyone + January transfer signings, at his disposal. So, it is all looking good....apart from the lack of three specific signatures.
I said to my mate if we win the league it will be the greatest thing i''ll have ever seen in 57 years of supporting LFC.I've seen a lot better who have failed.Lost 6 bought 1 players this season. There's no fool like an old fool David. We shall see.Not a bloody chance top 4 at best.

Is it good news that Liverpool are through or are you worried about the number of games?
It's crazy that the league cup semis are still two legged. Yes worried, but would still they would rather win
@@davidlynchlfc Far less worried about Slot selections in lesser competitions than Klopp: 2020/21, 22/23, 23/24 squads were decimated by Christmas.
Good news, top teams and top clubs are built on trophies

Endo is The Last Samurai
I think Endo is a Sensei and works well as a teacher for the youth players, he plays as CD for Japan and is captain. great game from Endo,

Nice to see Endo with the captains armband. It is unfortunate him getting hit in the face with the ball led to a goal.

Very good summary of how the game span out
Let's hope Arne now has a rethink of his opinion on Endo! He was wrong to value him so little.
Dans is quite a clinical finisher if he ever gets a few run of games u know ... A literal understudy to Diogoals ... Facts 💯 ..
Appreciate David providing equally incisive analysis to an EFL game as would Premier League.
Best LFC analysis. Cheers David.

Morton was an unsung performance….. he was so cool in midfield and showed he can play RB with ease. Love his and McConnell physicality…
endo needs way more game time such an unused player

Trent asking for £350k pw is just nuts. Even the £250k on the table from the club is crazy high for a FB.
Totally agree. But he will demand and get it somewhere else. Fact!!!!!!

this is why you don't let players get down to their last year. their leverage is much too high. he knows he can get crazy money on a free.
