Hi Lou. Looks like a great setup you have there. Really pleased you are back up motoring again. I’ll be really interested in how the Parajet behaves for you. I hope it’s a lucky machine for you this time! I’ve just rebuilt the top end on my AC 130 so I’m running that in too. I guess there isn’t such a thing as a perfect Paramotor, but the wings are great now. I’m enjoying the Sirocco 2. Looking forward to more videos. Cheers Jim
Thanks for the comments. So far the frame and engine have been great. Weather has really been a bugger so not flying as often as I would like and doing a lot of break in time on the ground. But this weekend looks good!
I failed to mention "torque" from the Atom 80...or lack thereof. It's only 80 cc but I feel that the Miniplane Top 80 I used to fly definitely liked climbing out to the left much better (which makes sense based on prop rotation). But the Atom 80 so far seemed comfortable climbing out in either direction and without any hesitation when going right (as in my second take off). Probably the way the frame is rigged I would think.
hello mate, do you have the e-prop or the standard prop? have you changed the trigger throttle or is that the standard one? im 20lbs less than you all up and fly sea level cross country and inexperienced, i was thinking of getting the roadster 3 which i hear is similar to the spyder, do you think i should go for the 22m or 24m? Thanks Lou. From Lou
It has the standard Parajet prop. that came with the unit. I believe it is the e-prop but not 100% certain. I flew with the standard Polini throttle that the unit came with but then switched over to the Vittorazi throttle which I liked better (there is a subsequent video on that throttle replacement). The Roadster 3 is supposed to be very nice and is the standard weight version of the Spyder 3. The size choice depends on a lot of things including your flying style and I would discuss this with your instructor. With a smaller wing you will definitely be landing faster! If you're at the top of the weight range (with the smaller wing) you will also be cruising faster but with more power needed. The Atom 80 should work well if you are lighter than me. Best wishes!
200 lbs. is perhaps pushing it BUT it does depend on what altitude you fly, the type of flying you want to do, and the wing you will be using. Best to consult with your instructor and try flying both. I love the Atom 80 as I have now tried a few different engines and it works for me. Good luck!
@@loums52Thanks for responding. I'm in Kansas. I was considering the Mojo PWR or the Gin Pegasus. Both A wings and comparable but the Pegasus seems to be a more popular choice. Lots to consider. Thanks, Rick
No, I've kept it at the factory settings. Seems to work well for me.It's a compromise where you want them as having the trims fully in or out will change the height of the toggles.
Thanks for the comments! This is in the San Diego county area of Southern California. The development in our area is slowly reducing any available launch sites to "nil". But for now this is still open to launch and fly and stay FAA Part 103 compliant. A paragliding hike & fly launch site is also nearby in a protected area so when not paramotoring, I can lunch "freestyle". Best of both worlds!
Congrats on your new rig! I am looking into the Atom 80 as well for my first motor. I weight 170lbs but I wonder if I should go with a Moster 185 instead for a little more power? What do you think? I just don't want to have to upgrade in the next 5 years.
So far the Parajet and Atom 80 have been really nice. I weigh 165 lbs. and fly around sea level so it works for me. If I was at any altitude (like Denver!) I would go with the Moster but a lot also depends on what you want to do. Aerobatics and slalom definitely go with Moster. If you don't mind the extra weight then the Moster would be nice BUT you do carry more weight so if you don't need the extra power and don't mind climbing a little slower then don't bother. That said, you can easily put a Moster on the Maverick frame in the future (per Parajet email). Also, the Atom 80 is much nicer on gas if that makes a difference. I also found the torque of the Moster much stronger (obviously) but nothing really bad. When I flew the Moster at Salton Sea I don't think I was any more than 1/3 throttle the whole time! It did climb quickly but I was used to the Top 80! Atom 80 is also only pull start. Moster makes a dual start if you want an e-start option but not sure if it is available on the Maverick. Hope that helps (and not confuse things!). Thanks for the comments!
Maverick has to be..One of the best looking machines out there..next to the Scout...imo.
Absolutely!
Congrats Lou. I love my Atom80 too. Hope to fly with you guys soon.

Hope you get to fly buddy. I’m flying out to LAX on Monday. I’m hoping to fly my paraglider at Soboba but I haven’t checked the forecast yet...
I’m 55 and wanting to get into this sport. Where to start, research and ask lots of questions.

Is that Atom 80 enough for you? I'm 200lbs....would that work for me or should I consider the 185? Thanks.

Sounds like nice rig for you skinny sea level folks :>)
Happy you found a good fit.
Cheers
Have you had to make any adjustments to the length of the brake toggles on your Spyder, or are you keeping with the factory settings ? Thanks.

Great video man! Where is this located at? Looks like Arizona or New Mexico

Lou Serrano that's awesome man. Beautiful area to fly in.

like the video but might want to invest in a mic
I didn't see any jet. Misleading title.
