mate great upload, but i think ours is blown something inside it, tried everything as you have mentioned, but no lights light up on the screen and also noticed that the arc said it was active via the tv, but no sound etc, had a party just 3 days ago and the system shut down the red light keeps flashing and no matter which comb of buttons i press it will not start up working as it should etc, but many thanks for the info and keep up the great work your doing champ. ❤❤🙌🙌✌✌👍👍😎😎

Thanks so much - needed to reset a Yamaha receiver after getting an updated DISH set box, which took control of the receiver and denying other devices (Apple TV, BD player). Did the reset and ran the setup - everything back to working order

thank you again and again, time after time my receiver lost SUBWOOFER and I need to reset it and after going to the page BACKUP\RESTORE and restoring my settings. Simple restore doesn't helps, need to reset

Thanks anyway, I am sure it helped many others but did not get my HTR-3066 to produce audio (I was just using it with speakers as an amp for sound from laptop), but the reset got the 'Decoder OFF' to disappear from the display...Have a feeling it must be a connection problem inside...oh well, I did get it second hand and had acouple of years' use out of it. Yamaha RX-V675 Before I watched this video from Shane, I was seeing over 150+ “DECODER OFF”errors, watched this video, followed directions, but it’s back to numerous dropped audio signals. Very frustrating! Never used to do this! (I checked TOS, It’s working) Any other bright ideas, to help this frustrating problem? I am having an issue with my Yamaha receiver not picking up my remote. It just randomly stopped on its own. Remote works IR light illuminates when the buttons are pressed. Receiver is just not picking it up any suggestions?

Thank you for posting pressing! "-" on my remote didn't release the memory guard so this was the only other way, the only difference on mine was it would go blank after hitting the 2 buttons then I needed to press power then proceed on.

I can't quite figure out how to reprogram my Yamaha receiver remote to work completely with the Yamaha receiver. It was working fine then about four months ago we lost the remote somewhere in the house. My daughter miraculously found it and brought it back to the living room. Now I can use a lot of the buttons like power and the yellow scene buttons Etc but the volume up and volume down does not move the stereo big knob so I can't change the volume level on my Yamaha receiver any ideas how to reset the remote or repair it with the receiver so all the functions work

I ended up here looking for support on my Yamaha R-N303 that was stuck with a flashing standby light because it was in protection mode. I found this guidance elsewhere but it took a while so I wanted to share here as well.

Starting Self-Diagnostic Function in the protection cancel mode
If the protection function works and causes hindrance to troubleshooting, cancel the protection function by the procedure
below, and it will be possible to enter the self-diagnostic function mode. (The protection functions other than the excess
current detect function will be disabled.)
**** While pressing the “PRESET < ” and “BASS +” keys, press the (Power) key to turn on the power and keep pressing
those 2 keys for 3 seconds or longer. *****
The self-diagnostic function mode is activated with the protection functions disabled.
In this mode, the “SLEEP” segment of the FL display flashes to indicate that the mode is self-diagnostic function mode with
the protection functions disabled.
I have a RX-V479 (HTR 4080) and I have the issue that the sound programs are randomly changing.
I wanted to perform a reset but the buttons on the front are not responing. After taking out the plug and putting it back it, for a while I can use the buttons on the front, however, perform the reset still doesnt work. When I hold the Straight button and press on Power it just simply powers on. I really think a reset would do the trick, but I cannot manage it.
Nice will have to try that as i have an issue with my LH speakers :( . When i turn it on only the center, RHF, RHR and bass work but nothing comes out of the LHF or LHR and i've tested the speakers and connections including sticking another working speaker in with no result.
I tried that on my HTR 6230 and it doesn't do anything :(

Thanks! Should all of the hdmi ports be empty when doing this reset? all of my hdmi ports say Set Top Box 1, 2, 3 or 4 and only the Firestick, which is plugged into HDMI 4 will work, even when its showing HDMI 1, 2, 3 etc...

I have a RX V 2300 and the right side of the Main Speakers do not produce sound. I have to plug my main speakers into the left side connections which works perfectly. Also, I don’t get full sound from my rear/surround speakers. Any ideas?

My unit and remote are like new. Moved 2 years ago and am now getting my system going. Left batteries out of the remote for the 2 years. When I fired up the system, the remote fails to communicate with the receiver. Yes, the batteries are new. I did do a reset on the remote which doesn't appear to do anything. Any ideas? Thanks. Will a reset on the receiver help? I haven't done it yet as the system is all hooked up. The equipment did sit for two years but was protected. It is the RX-371. Unit is working, just without the remote.
A reset may fix the problem.
It would be the next thing I would try.

After further research, it appears that leaving the batteries out for an extended time can erase the codes. bought a new remote and it worked fine. resetting the unit caused other slight issues which since have been corrected. Thanks for your input. As these remotes appear to be used in other units, and the fact that there are many codes to begin with, would you know the proper code for the RX-V371 for me to try to salvage the old remote? Unit is now working great. Thanks again,

Sounds like an issue with your display PCB or power to the display PCB

I have an RX V-620. It has been stored (unplugged) for several years. When I press the power button, the receiver comes on for about a second then shuts down. Is there a reset function or perhaps a battery or capacitor that needs replacing?

Hello, i have a rx-397 receiver. Not a av receiver.
Can i reset the mine to? There is no straight button on this one.
Found it. For those ho have the rx397 , make sure it is on stand-by. Press a-b-c-d button and then on the on button. Press a-b-c-d button to chouse your menu and press again the on button to comfirm.

My reciever is flashing its light due to my toddler repeatedly turning it on and off pretty sure it went into protection mode I don't have a tone control on my actual system and it's all touch screen besides select enter, the scene buttons 1234, return, menu, zone, pure direct I have a yamaha receiver rxv4a is there anyway to turn it off

What's this straight button you're talking about? I see no straight button on my Yamaha rx-v800.
I have a weird issue. When my receiver is turned on, you hear low sounds of the radio. Everything works fine but it can be distracting if you’re watching a suspenseful show where the sound is low. I did the factory reset and firmware update but I still hear the noise. Please help!

That seems to be working for a lot of people, but my receiver has no buttons on the front it's that flat flush look on the new RX v4a, therefore I have no straight button or any buttons to speak of to press for reset....argh

RX-A810 please.
After switching on, the various program modes run one after another erroneously and this can be seen on the receiver's display. I tried the factory reset by advance setup, but I'm stuck here with the remote id menu and the reset menu is not appearing, so I can't even access the reset option. My model is yamaha htr 3072.

Try taking your AVR to a local electronics repairer, if you want keep it for an extra couple of years. Otherwise you might have to go down to your local JB Hifi and pickup a new one?

You will have to take your Yamaha re ciever to an Authorised Yamaha repair centre. Your Yamaha is picking up a fault at startup, and shutting down to protect itself.

The firmware version update
After leaving here, did a bit more looking round the net and found this video th-cam.com/video/hwnU7zkvn0E/w-d-xo.html basically showing how the chip responsible for audio processing sometimes tends to go on strike when cold and how he got the audio going again by blowing hot air on it! I didn't want to mess around with opening up my receiver, but funny enough, after trying the RESET here and getting no results, as well as the other step outlined in the FAQs below, I inadvertently must have left the unit with the power on and went to the kitchen for dinner. Midway through the meal I started hearing faint music coming from my study and LO 'n BEHOLD! the damn thing is working again!!! all by itself (I must have gone through all the INPUT selections and left it on TUNER). OKAY, that's a relief, but will it cut out again when the chip gets cold, I wonder? We'll see.
BTW, do you know if the generic remotes for these receivers sold on AliExpress are any good? I bought the HTR-3066 without a remote and have not needed one for my purposes so far, but am curious whether having a remote might come in handy if this receiver keeps working. @@Repair2Renew Weirdly enough I got it to work by resetting the remote just after I sent this. It now works off the remote but not off the receiver itself. I only use this as an amp for music so need to investigate further as it has never given me trouble before.
