Have you ever played any of these? Have a shout about them here. Also, there's a whole load of sources and good reading to be found in the description which I highly recommend looking at :)
Kim.... This was absolutely amazing and fascinating. Such an original topic and the fact some can be 'mame' d or connections ergo prototype of released games makes it even more fascinating. May you expand on this subject!
The "Tollian Web" name for Major Havoc was a Star Trek reference, to the TOS episode The Tholian Web, based on the third stage and forward shooting sequences.
Great video Kim. I always love seeing unreleased and cancelled games so this is right up my alley. If you did more of these on other arcade and game developers as well, I would eat all of them up
The fact that I'm presently seeing only 250-odd "likes" on this documentary is further proof that the machinations of injustice are still awork in this world. But seriously, though - awesome content! Your oeuvre, be it of video games or British pop culture, is always a comfy, witty and welcome watch.
Excellent video as always KImble. I do have Mame myself but the only game I've ever played out of the games mentioned is the roadrunner game but it's nice to see the immense library of atari games that never got released and some of them have piqued my interest if I ever get around to playing Mame again, Looking forward to part 2.
Just finished Racing The Beam, which has made me appreciate the work that went into the VCS a lot more. Got about half the way thru the Warren Davis book on a grim rail trip from Glasgow to Nottingham…with a grim stop off at Warrington on the way. Saving yer Qbert video for after that😂
You did forget about “Play Land”: Another laserdisc title that bares some thematic similarities to Midway’s 1998 title; CarnEvil, namely a Jester antagonist, and spooky imagery (minus the gore of Midway’s title) All we know about the project is thanks in large part to The Strong Museum in an interview with Peter Lipson.
TH-cam needs a lot more of this classic arcade/pre-NES game coverage. Hopefully the roms of some of these that are still in collectors' hands will eventually be made widely available. Nightmare looks pretty cool.
You mean i could have been able to play Snoopy Pong while making shaved ice in my Snoopy Snow Cone Maker ? Also, i distinctly remember eating at a Snoopy diner at Knott's Berry Farm where the plates were shaped like dog food bowls. And there was a Snoopy ice skating rink too. I'm not saying those were all real memories, but i definitely had the Snoopy Snow Cone Maker, and its handle was really hard to turn to shave the ice cubes you put in. Another excellent video, Kim.
For a Cat- you sure like Snoopy. Its a shame there wasnt a cat character in Peanuts. Ive read a fair few, from different eras, and never sawed a Cat. 😾
Part of me wishes that Atari came up with the warioware idea cause some of these fit in a great compilation of quick games. Cheers for covering all of these
I really like Cloud 9. The MyArcade Atari GameStation Pro includes a number of these (Cloud 9, Qwak, Alpha One, Runaway, Lunar Battle) for the first official time, which is the best reason to buy it.
atari prototypes are always a fascinating topic (it's from the atari games era but it's so funny to me that they cancelled more fighting games than they actually released). however, the bit about e.t. eventually becoming the cancelled gremlins games appears to be light speculation seen in an atariage post that's turned into 'it appears that...', can't find anywhere else mentioning this connection so i'm curious now, is there any more info out there about it?
Kim swinging in like an absolute hero to save me from a crappy Sunday by dropping yet another amazing video. As a gamer in his late 40s I am still happily obsessed with the 80s, 90s and early 2000s and these videos give me an essential nostalgia blast. Thanks Kim, here's to many more years of your videos!
The jerkiness of Battlestar Galactica is interesting, because it looks like they were pushing the Firefox design even further. That game has a laserdisc player that can effectively skip a set number of frames without blackout, so careful arrangement of the video can give you two parallel tracks to switch between (jet on fire, and jet not on fire in that case). With the demo there it looks like they were using it for some sort of eight way movement - impressive, but I can hear the motor burning out just thinking of it. There was the Malibu Grand Prix tie in as well, but aside from some test footage of them on the track and some vague attempts at digitising model cars for opponents, I think it didn't get anywhere near as far.

Listening to you talk about these is far better than actually playing them.
Shame we can only give you one like.
Absolutely superb, ultra-high quality content KJ, I was enthralled from start to finish.

The F-14 Tomcat is/was an air superiority jet fighter, not a helicopter. Other than that, great vid! 👍
Marvellous as usual. Love you Kim♥️♥️
Firebeast and Tomcat look intriguing. I was thinking of Anne McCaffery when you said "Originally a licenced game...".

Don't forget your Snoopy Brush-a-Brush-a toothbrush...when you get up in the morning (get up in the morning)...

Great video Kim really enjoyed it well done
The most (in)famous form of the game Catch is actually Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em :))

Yay… I caught this video in the first eight hours been watching u for years you’re the best love from North Carolina❤❤❤❤❤
Well, Last Starfighter on the Atari 8-bit computer did get leaked with the names intact.
Ayyyy new Kim content. Cheers as always :)

4:42... Surely the ring ropes would be in the bezel.
Thanks Kim 😊
Hey, Kim! Great video yet again 🙂. As an aside, think you'll ever give FFIX the VII and VIII treatment? Two absolute stalwarts on my watch list.
It would probably be a big audience pull with that title. When Kim needs an ego boost? That could be a nice big one 😊
The Garfield game has sprites from Taz (and sounds.)
8:23 I thought that said "WANK" when the battleship exploded
Waiting for a curry that’s estimated to be 45 mins away. Perfect timing and perfect fit ❤
That means itll be there in 25 😊
I thought that first game was styled like that! Didn't clock it was corrupted! It looked a bit arty to me.

Scott Stilphen, my man! :)
Cheers Kim.
The Golf Trainer would have been amazing if it had Craig Stadler.
Think you can get it inside mine?
@@Kim_Justiceooh-err MISSUS!
I still don't want a touch screen
36:06 "Died the way he lived: Like a goddamn psychopath."
Interesting! The Road Runner game sounds awesome...would also make a great superfast pinball machine🤩

Helloei!
Thanks Kim.
MAKE ARCADES QUITE GOOD AGAIN ❤
Yo.
Have you played Atari today?
