    I think both of you nailed it. VR is a slow roll technology and I don't think this headset will be any different. Sure, when they unveil it, it will be sensational, but I agree this first version is for the developers. It makes sense to have the dev community foot the $3k for dev kits and by the time the consumer ready version comes out, there will be a ton of content for it. So, I believe WWDC is the perfect place to unveil the headset, even if they don't actually show it.

    I'm always excited for the OS updates. I'm a little concerned about the price tag of the headset given the economic conditions and the fact that it's a first gen device. Remembering Series 0 $10k gold Apple Watches which became impotent a few years after release.

      from what I've heard. the apple vr headset is going to be sold at a Loss at even $3000. they are more making iti so developers can get in early.....so when a cheaper version is released a year or 2 later, there will already be apps

    Did you guys forget about the Developer Transition Kits? Both were done at WWDC. Essentially the world was introduced to M1 (for the latest kit anyway) and devs were given a working platform (a repurposed Mac Mini). This wasn't a version one or a consumer product. So. Could be the same deal. We also see this happen in video games with consoles.. though with much secrecy.. for reasons..

    I love VR and am excited to see what they are doing but is it the right time considering the bigger hype around LLM’s? Where’s there ChatGPT, BING or Bard? Could they release something like that at their WWDC? Or would they wait to release a new version of Siri until it is ready for a wider release?

    • @g33xzi11a
      @g33xzi11a ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Be funny if the final part of the vr reveal is a Siri that acts like Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. and that transitions into the new Siri.

    • @anggoran7398
      @anggoran7398 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think Apple would compete in the LLM area with Siri, as an empirical example Siri frequently just answer with "I don't understand", or "Please open Safari and search this"... I mean I think the ML model wasn't heavily trained like others did

    • @arijitdebnath25
      @arijitdebnath25 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was news which said that Apple was working on making AR apps just by using Siri. Anyone without any coding knowledge can build an AR app by using Siri. That is next level. Generative AI will eventually help in AR and VR content generation, which was a huge barrier till now because it would take hours and days to create 3D assets. There are already examples in the market which helps you create 3D worlds and assets just via a text input.

    The software updates apple is making this year are not going to be huge, it’s one of those incremental years where they focus on performance and stability. It should leave them with a big chunk of showtime to talk about their headset. I just hope we get to see another “one more thing…” at the end of the software part of the event.

    Having try Quest 2 and just bought PSVR 2
    Apple must have at launch will be
    1. fully running MAC OS on it
    2. Apple Fitness workouts for it
    3. Apple Music concerts for it
    4. Apple TV plus/sports content for
    5. Gaming for it is obvious but it needs to be serious about it, buy gaming studios to make exclusive games for it
    6.

    I believe it will not replace any device for years, but initially be an extension of your iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV and that you can do exactly the same things as you can do with those devices. Because why do you think they are putting such powerful chips in phones, iPads and macs lately? To power the headset. I expect you can do do office work, browse the internet, make calls, watch movies, project items in your office or room, interact with apps and such. The huge advantage that Apple has versus the other headset manufacturers is their eco system which will be a HUGE advantage which give Apple a major headstart in useful functionality compared to others. The eco system is already there, plus the existing devices are getting upgraded with powerful M chips to be able to power it, wirelessly or via a cable. So the most difficult is to make it light, comfortable, that is has a very sharp display and that it works easy. Maybe they will, but I do not see why they would make it an independent device, right from the beginning. But who knows…

Not many being produced at all As they know very few will buy it at this high price point. Something like one per Apple store. There's a cut down cheaper one following it later.

    It goes without saying that when Apple finally does roll out their AR/VR/MR device it will have powerful creation tools. I am a PC human, but I respect the devices and software. I forsee MR versions of their entire suite of creation based software. I also think that haptics will be next level. If you are drawing or sculpting on a screen essentially, haptics really raise the bar in a big way.

    • @kentonwu4383
      @kentonwu4383 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the approach of current VR is kind of short-sighted, where they advertise the draw of enterprise VR as being able to use these huge floating computer screens. But that doesn't really offer a huge advantage over just using a monitor. Somebody needs to come up with a computer OS with a 3D interface rather than two, to fully take advantage of the VR experience. If Apple wants to really push the field, they need to do something like that.

    • @arijitdebnath25
      @arijitdebnath25 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. One of the Apple experts said that the MR headset launch will be mostly a "Macintosh moment" rather than another iPhone moment. If this device is marketed as a powerful tool that enables people to create new experiences rather than just consume, people will buy it. Imagine if the headset makes it super easy to make your own animated 3D movies, suddenly everybody will have a story to tell. Buying the headset will be more desirable. Just like it is happening with generative AI. Any one can create a painting now with just text inputs.

    I have huge doubts, after spending some time with the so called best VR Headset for the moment, the PSVR2, I still think it is way to far out for this product category to be prime time ready. People still get vertigo and all kinds of things from VR. Even if chips like m2 get faster and faster, 2x 4K @120 fps screens for VR are still impossible to delivery to. Additionally they really would need a killer app, and so many people already tried and failed to deliver that, including FB, HTC etc.

    I own the Vive XR Elite got it day one and the setup took sometime but the hand tracking is another level all together vs Meta Quest 2 the only other headset I own that has hand tracking. I also own HTC Vive Pro 2 and HP Reverb G2. I think what Apple going to do is similar to Meta and HTC with video passthrough vs magic leap optic stuff. The reason the technology is no where near ready as seen by magic leap issues with object transparency and difficulty with light levels and cost. Meta Quest Pro uses local dimming vs OLED and is able to compensate somewhat for lack of no OLED. Vive XR Elite still uses LED and is somewhat effected by lack of true black but it's video passthrough and hand tracking is completely at another level. I think Apple looking to bring to market a lower cost XR headset using technology brought over by Sony and their PSVR 2 headset. It has OLED and has amazing head tracking as well as higher resolution micro OLED then the LED inside of ether Meta Quest Pro and HTC Vive XR Elite. If they combine their technology with AR and camara technology with Sony micro-OLED displays from PSVR 2 at a 1000 to 1500 dollar price point with some form of iPhone integration it will be a pretty big deal especially with rumors of them working with Steam for gaming. I have a feeling these are the reasons why steam has not introduced a replacement yet for Steam Valve Index because they are waiting for Sony or LG to ramp up production of their OLED.

    I believe Apple has pushed their "we come a few years after everyone but make it better" strategy a bit too far. Every other company has already tried this before, it didn't work (I mean, there are products, but they are not a must), and it is not a new concept, as VR headsets already existed in the 1980's... Even Meta, that tried to push the "Metaverse" concept very hard, is moving on to conversational AI, which is the new thing everyone want to jump to right now.

  • @coloryvr
    @coloryvr ปีที่แล้ว

    VR enthusiasts like me have usually invested a lot of time and money in VR. And what already exists will be further developed by AIs at breakneck speed. I will defnitly not start anew with VR. If Apple manages to integrate generative AIs that can be controlled by voice commands in VR, this could be exciting. Otherwise, I predict a niche product for the followers of the Holy Apple Church
