Faith Prince as Ursula - "The Little Mermaid" (2009)

Of all the women to play Ursula in "The Little Mermaid" on Broadway only the last, Faith Prince, has the distinction of working with both composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman. Initially cast as Audrey in the very first production of "Little Shop of Horrors" at the WPA Theatre, due to a prior contract she could not accept the role at that time. She was the first replacement for Audrey, however, and went on to perform the role several times over the years. On this the birthday of the late great Howard Ashman, I felt it would be fitting to honor not only him but the "first Audrey" and "last Ursula" in one go, since so much of the character is in debt to Ashman. Happy birthday Howard!
