Ashokan Farewell played on Tin Whistle

- Whilst out walking Dug this afternoon I did two recordings of this beautiful waltz sitting at different parts of the river Conwy in Snowdonia National Park in north Wales, the first on a Syn high D, and the second on a Holifield high D. I've uploaded them together as one video. P.S. Around the 01:30 mark on the second video Dug notices my wife appearing down the path and runs to greet her, so perhaps I should've called this version "Ashokan Greeting" LOL!
It could not be a more beautiful version of this grand song.
@@DanPurdy1 Thank you for the kind words.
Of all versions played on you tube this is THE ONE, played by a master, beautiful and a grand dog!
Whenever I play the whistle near the dog he howls.
and a grand green meadow
This tune has been and "ear worm" for me all day. Beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed it.

The was played at my wifes funeral by a dear friend who is a well known folk violinist. Your beautiful version on the tin whistle still bought tears to my eyes......

Good dog!
This beautiful video made me start learning tin whistle. It's very different from a bass guitar which I usually play, but boy does it make pretty sounds. Thank you, you gave me something special.
This is so good to hear. Thank you for the comment. There are lots of great resources here on TH-cam and online to learn about whistles and whistle playing and I wish you all the very best in your whistle journey.
Wonderful, JIm. Thank you so much.
This is lovely. Thankyou. Am very familiar with Conwy area so this was just right. For some reason this tune makes me think of Shetland though I've not heard it there. I think it's the wistfulness.
@@annegriffith450 Thank you for the comment Anne.

I play the guitar...or well used to hah
But everytime I hear this...whether it's the viola and now the tin whistle? Just makes me want to go out and buy the instrument so I can play it myself
Bravo!
Wonderful 😊
@@KC-fb8ql Thank you.
Please, post the music as you played it. I learn by playing along with videos that I like especially. . . trying by ear, but tabs or sheet music encourage me. Thank you!
This is the music as I played it. I don't understand. Thanks for the comment though.
P.S. Here's the sheet music ; thesession.org/tunes/4997
Jolly good
Woooow!!!!! 🥰✨🤍
Awesome
If you look at my icon here, with my photo...You'll see my former dog as well....A female English Shepherd. My baby...I TOO am a whistle-flute player of 30 years...
This video has me 😭...as my dog would sit just like yours did...She was 14 years old. She loved
"The Kesh" the best and would chase her tail when I played it...or hump my leg...either one...🤣
Thank You! 😉
Dzięki ❤
Thank you.
Ah that was nice!
I love your attentive dog
If you look in the corner between my dog's haunches and the screen at 1:31 you'll see my wife waving at him as she was coming to me us. That's why he ran off! It had nothing to do with my playing! Honest! :D
❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful, thank you . Greetings from Australia.
