I totally love B.B. He was an insane player. Some people hate the Varitone, but I think it’s handy for adding or removing flavor depending on the song.
I have a varitone-like circuite in my Tele, in my Bass-VI, in my jazzbass, and one about to go into a new Starcaster. No effect whatsoever when bypassed, and adds nuanced tones that you just can't get any other way. I also wire most of my guitars to support pickups in series/parallel and in/out of phase. With 2 mini-HPs on my tele in series/out of phase, and the varitone on 4, I can dial in a pretty convincing filtertron souind.
Most guitars eventually need adjustments and repairs and I like to do my own such work. The main thing that has kept me from owning a semihollow is you normally have to reach through the f-hole to work on the electronics, and that's almost like building a model ship in a bottle. I love the easy rear access to the pots and switches on the Lucille and wish that feature was available on all semis and hollowbodies.
I just came in for the Goldtop giveaway lol. All jokes aside, the BB King looks and sounds fantastic. I was very lucky to see BB king live in my early 20s met him at the end of the show, a true legend and gentleman. If you are a fan of the Blues, BB king was the man.
I had one of these and traded it off on my path to an SG Standard. A couple years later I found myself trading my SG for a BMG Special, because I loved it. The BMG remains my absolute favorite guitar, but that Lucille was the one guitar I regretted losing. I just got one again, and those two guitars are pretty much “it” for me.
I owned one of these for a while and loved it. Thinking of grabbing another soon. All the Epiphone neck pickups tend to be a little dull but I found by throwing the Varitone on either 3 or 4 (I can't remember) and then upping the bass on my amp accordingly it hit a wonderful sweet spot. It's definitely a quality guitar though. As a Gibson guy I think it's right on oar with the 335s I've owned.
Great sounding guitar. I love it. I am debating whether to this one or the Epiphone Sheraton Pro II. Which in your opinion sounds better for classic hard rock and blues? I.e., AC/DC, Zeppelin? I have an a Gibson SG 61already. I am in need of Semi Hlow Body, the ES 335.
Check out our demos on all of those. If you want classic hard rock tones, and don't want all the extra tones, the regular ES 335 dot has these same pickups and is $599: www.zzounds.com/a--3979398/item--EPIEIES335 Another GREAT option is the Jim James 335, and it includes a hardshell case: www.zzounds.com/a--3979398/item--EPIEIES335JJ Thanks for watching!
Great playing, as always, John. I love the bass on that backing track. I like a lot of features on this guitar. I've always loved the Lucille. I was lucky enough to see B.B. King live back in about 2005. Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened for him at an outdoor amphitheater in light rain just outside of Park City, Utah. It was amazing.
A beauty and it does sound great. In fact the Varitone on this sounds better, more usable, than the one I recall on the Gibson Lucille I owned about fifteen years ago. Does anyone else have that opinion? I could be wrong! I'm tempted now...
I thought that too, but no - until I first experienced this with a Rickenbacker. Basically the Y cable is stereo at the quarter inch side. What you'd do with this feature? Lol I have no idea -- I'll let someone else fill that in. To me, it seems kind of dumb to split your bridge pickup to one amp and neck pickup to the other, and for the life of me I can't think of a good application. Maybe I have no imagination. Thanks for watching!

I put varitone-type circuits in virtually all my guitars and basses. About to add one to my new Squier Starcaster.
Epiphone really have some gorgeous guitars wt the moment. Ive bought a few and LOVE them. You get great guitars at a reasonable price point.
Good demo, I actually enjoyed when u played in bb king style with the varitones.
That's my baby! I still play a Strat
but the Lucille is my main squeeze!!😊

what model year is this one ? and how do you know what your getting ? its the only thing holding me back
Hi, does anyone know about the neck tenon on these?
No reviewer has dared to lift that sticker in the neck pocket, it seems.
I bought one yesterday.
Beautiful beautiful
Very nice playing!! I’m gonna get me one soon!
Hey do they make it for left-hand
Wow!!! Great guitar!!!!
Would love a version of this without gloss and an extremely stressed look. I know I'm weird lol
Wouldn’t a Y cable just put it back to mono output? I thought you’d use 2 separate cables into 2 different amps/rigs.

@@PlayandTradeGuitars ah ok thanks. Yeah I’m not sure how I’d use it too especially since I like to keep things simple lol.

Rendall Wall invented the TP6.
But...why, nobody play It stereo! I want to listen the sound ... Boh? Mah? It Is only a trick? 😭
