The 366 Project is a personal challenge to post a different song to TH-cam every single day in 2016, a leap year. The goal of the Project is to better myself by learning and performing music of many different genres, using the videos to hold myself accountable.

Lyrics
I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
Kissed a girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Clouds a drifting across the moon
Cats a prowling on their beat
Spring's a girl in the street at night
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Heard a siren from the docks
Saw a train set the night on fire
Smelled the spring on the smoky wind
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
I'm going to make me a good sharp axe
Shining steel tempered in the fire
Will chop you down like an old dead tree
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
Kissed a girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

Brilliant rendition. Love hearing this is different keys
But I have to ask, I can see why people change 'Salford wind' to 'smoky wind' but why change 'gasworks croft' to 'gasworks wall'? I know others have done this including major covers, but still.
The repetition of 'wall' is discordant for me
I think many people don't realise it's a song about Salford, mistakingly thinking it's about Dublin.
Salfords a City next to Manchester in UK.
It would be nice if people gave a credit to the person who actually wrote it and used the words he wrote.
you are the only serious lesson on this song....and great cover too
Thank you
go on son
No nad, no doubt
Loved it. I will copy you and make my own cover. I doubt you like my stuff but you're very welcome to check it out if you care for grunge. All the best, appreciated.
One Guinness more 🍺
You sound like the original
It is good manners to credit the person who actually wrote it and maybe sing the words that he wrote. Just saying.
What a weak comment, if you want to hear the original go listen to that….you’d have a hard time finding any decent band playing songs exactly the same over and over…good on this dude for putting it out there, please send a link to your perfect copyright rendition
@@thomasjefferson1883 TH-cam is a bit like a photocopier, if you do a copy of a copy of a copy enough times you can end up with something lost in the process. In this case the ‘Gasworks Croft’ has long since been demolished but immortalised in Ewan MacColl’s song. If you do a copy of this band doing a copy of that band doing a cover of another band the ‘Gasworks Croft’ is written out of history and never existed. I just think it is a matter of respect and courtesy to credit the person who wrote the song and to try to stick to the words that the artist wrote.
@@backgardenbusker7206 I see your point, however songs do change over time, take 12 days of Christmas, 12 collie birds is now 12 calling birds , Eric Clapton crossroad blues is not exactly like Robert Johnson’s original
that sound ov aids
