sv021 is the most comfortable headphone I have ever used, and I work all day with headphones on.

Thanks excellent review, at this price point “PERSONALLY” I prefer the 1more triple driver (on ear but I pad swap) to all of these

I have the 1More as well. Ivve put some bigger suede cups on them which is fully justified. (Comfortwise and soundwise )

I haven't spent much time with the 1More and don't yet have any contacts to get demo units. I would be interested to try them though

Great review, I like the comparisons you've made here Lachlan, thank you. On your mics, the Encore sounds just nice and clear, on the M90 you sound a little more breathy, not badly but just a little.

Among the entry level headphones, have you tried the ISK HD9999?
For some reason not reviewed in the west, while becoming a favorite of the entry level price range among most of those who did check them out.

thanks, appreciate this review as i was looking at these exact 3 for travel to work, all being closed back. they'll be powered by my phone most likely, maybe eventually via a dongle. the SIVGA's visually had my heart and thankfully they seem most suited to my preferred genre(s) of music, though i can at times listen to anything i deem 'soulful'.
you nearly converted me to getting the Meze, but, i'll take the 'slight' hit in overall performance (as i will be outside probably negating any benefit) for a far more visually appealing, in my eyes, unit.

The SV021 is a brilliant headphone too so you can't go too far wrong. Enjoy!

@@PassionforSound i ended up just ordering a Fii0 BTR5 to pair with them. i love the SV021's. such a warm rich sound, light weight, comfortable and simply look great. my only complaints are:
sound leakage - because i got them for going out and about the sound emission to the surrounding area is a lot greater than i anticipated. i knew there were 'breathe holes/slots' cut into the cups under the yokes, but, seeing as they are considered closed backs i expected a little dampening or attenuation. it's one of the reasons i opted to get closed backs in the first place. i may as well have got an open back headphone when looking at them from that perspective. admittedly, sound ingress isn't as much of an issue as it would have been with a fully open back headphone.
sweaty ears - it may just be because we are experiencing a heatwave, currently, that this is an issue. however, yeah, they can get a little hot. they will be great for winter though. also, i guess having the air holes/slots in the top of the cups i will have to watch for showers and full on rain.
up to this point i had been using IEM's with my phone. while the sound quality of the set i have is fairly similar to the SV021's. i wont miss fumbling for 10 minutes at a time to launch them up my ear canal and into my brain.
this also brings me neatly on to the BTR5. what a superb little device. you do notice the extra drive and punch it delivers. also, using it in bluetooth mode and not having to wrestle with wires when accessing my phone is worth the money alone. i may get a DAP at some point, but, that has suddenly become harder to justify the exorbitant financial outlay for a decent one.
is it worthwhile getting a new set of wires and running the SV021's + BTR5 in balanced mode? i know a few into their audio that dont even look at devices that aren't balanced. is it even worth it if my phone is the source device?

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

From memory, the original BTR5 was noticeably better running balanced, but I haven't tried the current version so it depends a bit on which one you have whether or not I can help specifically. Generally speaking, you should expect a slight improvement running devices like the BTR5 balanced so it's not a bad idea to try a balanced connection.

@@PassionforSound thanks for the candid answer. the cables i was looking at come in at around 43 pound sterling (im in the UK) and because of my usage locations im not sure it will be worth it. does that sound expensive for cables? i dont think hot-links will work/post here but it was '2.5mm Balanced Cable 6N OCC Copper Silver Plated Cord Walnut Wood Shell Compatible with Hifiman HE400S, HE-400i (Dual 2.5mm Version) Headphone (2x 2.5mm Version)' on Amazon that i was looking at.

Good review. How do the BLON's take bass-eq? Seems like a beryllium should be able to take a bit and maybe level out that graph.

Have you tried the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (80 ohms)? Curious how the Sivga compare to those as those have been consistently touted as the best budget closed backs under $200 for years now

Look at the AKG 361 and 371. Well balanced headphones. I own both and the DT 770 but like the 361 best also shure SRH 840 is good to.

@@chefsteve8381 Was looking at the AKGs for awhile too, but was told they're "flatter" and less accentuated than the 770s (also the purported QC issues with the 361 and 371 also made me hesitate to purchase them)

Microphone. Your Blue has much more "body" and some warmth. Listening through Alcatel S1+Beyerdynamic Pro DT770

Blon headphones have a very sketchy history. I'd have to go with Sivga on this one.
