I must have listened to this at least 100 times this week. It's an amazing song, no doubt. If you can sing, SING, why the hell not? Especially when you have a voice like Daniel's. I think it's the perfect balance. He can sing, he can scream, he makes killer beats, what's not to like? And he's quite the looker if I do say so myself, hah.

It's been 2 months since he released this video and people still cry about how he's music changed, how he got mainstream etc... seriously? Why do you waste your time on crying and whining about how 'shitty' he is now? Daniel said countless times that his new album will not be like his others because he is not the same person like he used to be back then and also he got asked by people to reanimate some stuff from his other project Necessary Response. If he kept making the same music like he did on Close to Human and other albums you would cry how he is repetitive and boring. You can never please anyone. If you miss the old stuff stick to it. Not only do people change over time, but genres of music as well. Not to mention its a new era. Artists are producing and showing there music to a whole new generation. Holy Christ on a stick does time fly. I can't believe this album is 8 years old now. We all change and grow as people and I firmly believe that if we don't we stagnate. I love Daniel for being a true artist and embracing the constant metamorphosis which constitutes a healthy, happy and successful life. He is an incredible producer who should always experiment with his sound and never be bound by any one genre cos a mix of everything is where he shines at and not many people can pull that off as well as he can. I listen to literally a shit ton of different music so to see the styles mixed and juxtaposed with one another is really cool for me and hits a certain sweet spot for me.

Aesthetic Perfection was never intended to be only aggressive. The original cut of Close to Human had Necessary Response tracks on it. I was forced to split into two projects by my label who said "an aggro album can't have these pop tracks on it."

Even with all of the AFI comparisons, I still find Daniel's stuff just a tiny bit edgier and more celebratory than AFI songs are generally. I'd say AP's more "Rarrgh" to AFI's more "le sigh".

"Being myself with someone else never turned out well" - Dude, it's the accuracy of the lines that does it for me, along the proper use of horror symbolism and themes. Also, from wolf to vamp and in reverse, works perfectly because both deal with transformation. A hybrid that's able to channel both hunger (longing) and arousal (intimacy) is magnificent. This is one of my favorites videos so far :)

When I first heard an AP song (I think circa 2009) I thought what is shit?! Some time later I gave it a second chance and went through the whole Violent Emotion album. From that time I really appreciate Daniel's work and tastes in both musical and artistic ways, however sometimes it's not easy to fully feel-into the new single/album. I think that this time it will be the same. The new song and video are quite 'soft' and sweet in visuals but the chorus digs into hears like hell. Good job guys!!!

I'm new to AP, first discovered when they opened for The Birthday Massacre in Pomona, CA. I'm usually one to get irritated when bands go poppy, because it usually means they've left behind something important that defined them (AFI, in my opinion, no offense intended, they're artists, they can do what they want), however, I feel like DG does this edgy synth-pop thing rather well, and from what I've listened to, he was always influenced by pop music, even with the industrial stuff, plus the look of this video is awesome.
I've listened to AP since 2005. Perhaps you have never heard their songs, "Overcast" or their cover of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday" have you? If you don't like it go listen to Marilyn Manson / Hawthorne Heights and beat it.
If people cannot recognize AP iin this song, no matter how different it is, they never got the essence and the soul of Daniel's music, which has a scent of its own, despite the genre it's labeled specific songs

While not lyrically as complicated as the first album, the rest of their offerings have all been solid in my playlist. Pretty. Odd. did take a while for me to enjoy, and it still tends to be the last on my list of desired listens.
not really it's just that before MTV killed the goth/industrial scene, it was more political and esoteric in nature and afterwards it was love songs and music written for angsty horny teenagers..due in large part to artists like 'Trent Reznor' and 'Marilyn Manson', who made goth and industrial 'accessible'
First two singles were great - hoping the flow is more like those two and less like this.

I dont know. I've been following AP for a while now, have all albums, i can't decide if i like this or not...its definitively very far from your original style that got me into the band, doesn't make it bad but still hoping for some more aggressive stuff on the album coming february.
