- China recently announced a raft of stimulus measures to boost its economy. Some were announced when Treasurer Jim Chalmers was visiting the country for the Strategic Economic Dialogue. Dr Chalmers says he's been concerned about the health of the Chinese economy for some time and welcomes the steps authorities are taking to boost consumption and tackle issues in the property sector. In an interview with Kirsten Aiken for The Business, the Treasurer says Australia's economic relationship with China is full of complexity and opportunity, and is broader than just iron ore. He said he raised China's ban on lobsters with his counterpart when he was in Beijing and Australia is not considering a ban on importing Chinese electric vehicles. In this inteview, Dr Chalmers also answers questions on negative gearing and capital gains concessions.
