    We have had our Planar 2D kit like yours for the last 6 months and love it! We prefer to use Kerosene over diesel with it. We added the muffler option as it reduces noise from exhaust a fair amount. Great video!

    • @EvergreenOverland
      @EvergreenOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heck yes! I was just thinking that I'll probably run kerosene as much as possible. Nice to have the option for diesel though.
      Might have to look into the muffler as well, but I don't feel like it is loud as is. I need to some sort of trim or keeper for the side that goes into the tent to keep it from sliding back through I think.
      Thanks for watching the video.

      @@EvergreenOverland Dmitry sells that as well, there is and end piece that locks it into the tent zipper. I also super glued a heavy duty picture d ring above where I want tube to hold in my RTT and use bungee to hook to heater inlet tube. I used a Velcro heavy duty wrap cord organizer on Amazon and wrapped it around inlet heater tube. I hook the bungee to from dring to the tube and it hangs well above our heads in tent and stays put.

      Curious as to why you prefer Kerosene? And do you ever mix diesel and kerosene together? I have the same unit, using in Colorado at higher altitudes, up to 9000 feet, but usually between 7 and 8000 feet and it’s been working fine with all diesel. Thanks.

    Very nice heater!! I am interested in the fuel economy of it after you use it in the field a few times. Great job!!

      it burns only 0.25 L/hour on full blast, so max 2 liters overnight

    $1500?!? … I did the same thing for my rooftop tent for $150.00 out the door with a few self mods. Dude … Nice unit, but you got ripped! Sorry to say! YIKES! 😳

    • @jeepncj7
      @jeepncj7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can't say it would be the same thing. The Amazon/eBay ones would just be the unit for the $150 ish. This comes all packaged together with a company to back it. I'm with you that I would go the DIY route (as I like that kind of stuff), but there is something to be said about a finished and tested product if there are failures.

    • @COMtnPilot
      @COMtnPilot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jeepncj7… I see your point and it’s respected. But, I tore this thing apart so I could check it out prior to firing it up for the first time, spent a few extra bucks to make some upgrades, bought some spare parts and modified it to suit my purpose and use. And still, I’m only in to it just under $250. If this one goes bad, I throw it in the dumpster and buy another. I guess I just have a tough time justifying a $1500 bill for something “I will use” maybe a couple time per camping season. If it’s something you use all the time, then yeah, maybe a setup like yours is warranted. Keep up the great vids and enjoy your camping adventures! 👍🏼😎

      @@COMtnPilot Oh I agree with you when looking at the overland tax when it comes to items. It's crazy the markup on some of this stuff. But for some it's worth having the piece of mind of a company to go back to for failures. I've seen a few examples of the DIY route (Revere Overland was one). Did you follow one of the suitcase builds on TH-cam, or just roll your own?

      @@jeepncj7 … Watched a few vids just to see what the heaters were all about. Then chose to buy an inexpensive one just to see if I liked them. Then I just made the alterations that made the most sense, and worked for the way I wanted to use the heater. Pretty happy so far!

    What's the best way to hook this up to a Toyota Sienna w/o drilling holes in the van? I don't mind having an actual unit installed, just can't find anyone to do it for me. Thank you. I even asked the guys up in Surrey, BC if they could pick my van up in Blaine, WA, they said no.

    That exhaust should be pointed down not up. You’ll ruin your heater over time if you don’t have it down. Just FYI.

      Just FYI, Planar shows it pointed up in every product image on their website. Maybe you should give them a call and let them know they're doing it wrong.
