Think that TOMO Hydroshort looks too wide and hard for Kelly to wrap his tail around his carves/turns whereas Jordy sliced his cutbacks and turns like a butterknife much easier. Kelly may not have quite as large arcs as Jordy or Conner Coffin on this wave but Kelly is still the one of the top of the top-class surfers and is able to do much larger wrapping turns.
I agree and was thinking the same. Something looked off, I could tell on the first wave where his pumps didn't flow, they were jumpy and didn't look like his normal smooth rail to rail transition.
Ya but Jordy had to double pump in order to maintain speed whereas kelly looked more effortless. I prefer quads because of this, much more fun to surf.
Both surfing incredible but it looked like skaters board was making the wave more difficult , helium epoxy firewire looked to squirely and chattering even under Kelly’s feet where as jordy looked a bit more smooth . That’s what I see at least
Apples and oranges. Jordy is 6'+ and 180lb+ Slater is 5'9" 160. Stock hydroshort is eps core / epoxy resin,, parabolic rail, 5 FIN etc. Plus it is a "borrowed board". Jordy is probably riding A PU rhruster. I would like to see Jordy on an oversized Hydroshort tho.

Yeah I don't know what volume he usually rides but I think the board was a touch long. His legs seemed quite wide which makes his turns odd.
