I'm dark Skinned and people always ask me how do I have the confidence to wear bright hair and lipsticks. The question is, how don't you? Live your life sis!
TheGhettoSnobSeries Hey I just started my channel and wondering if you would like to support my channel by subscribing and leaving some feedback on my videos. I am fairly new so it is a working progress but any tips you have would be appreciated! xoxo, Kim
My mom used to talk SO MUCH SHIT about me wanting to wear red lipstick and I kept wearing it because I honestly didn't see what she saw when I put it on and looked in the mirror. A few years later I bought her red lipstick and a good lip liner and I did her makeup and showed her and told her, you think it's ugly because someone told you it is. It's not, look at you. And she changed her mind ever since then.
I remember i wanted to wear red lipstick and my mom and cousin was like no that wouldn't look good on you especially because of my skin complexion and i tried it anyway i went to school and people were lauging at me i was so embarrassed and i just took it off
My Mom's from that generation that dark skin girls shouldn't wear red. It like that didn't want rhem to stand out. They just wanted to them to hide in a corner and disappear or something. She wears morw colors now but she still isnt comfortable wearing red or pink shades of lipstick, it has yo be more purple or brown. Sigh...But you cant convince everyone.
From your photo, I'm assuming that's you, you look gorgeous so I say keep owning it! My sister-in-law was blonde and tan for most of high school. I really want to see because she's so beautiful and I'm sure it looked fabulous but she's embarrassed to show photos. Probably because it's more of a counter-culture in Japan, so now that's she's 30 it feels silly to her or something. Still, I'm sure she rocked it like a queen.
White dude here. I didn't subscribed because of the makeup looks but because I think you are a funny & gorgeous person. That type of video is incredible and I agree with everything you say. Do whatever the hell you want with your look. Thank you for being real with the issues, the world needs it.
MysticMuse ikr, it's so weird when people do that Edit: but I think the point is to let us (dark skinned people) know that there are lighter skinned people standing with us
I used to get called burnt chocolate chip cookie in school and I absolutely cried everyday. I would use bleaching creams and gels and soak in Clorox to lighten my skin. I was so uncomfortable. I finally got to a point where I looked to God for an answer and he gave me one. I am now comfortable in the skin I'm in. So I'm glad you're standing up for the deeper skin tones!!
Ashane' Stewart Hola Iam very sad to hear that u were not comfortable in ur skin. we are the most beautiful people in the world. we as a ppl come in all color of pigmentation, we also come from all walks of life. just to enlighten u every other nationality want have be our pigmentation.. From a BLACK BOURIGA
Are you kidding?? I think that dark skin is gorgeous!! They're probably just jealous... that's why many of us caucasians are spending thousands per year on the tanning bed and tanning creams 😅
I love how Jackies sponsored videos always have a reason or theme or something like it's not just "here's these products I'm trying on" like she incorporates them into a more useful video/message. I love you, sis! Get ya coin!
Amongst all the sponsorship hate (for a lot of good reasons might I add) I really do appreciate this! I put a lot of thought into my content and that includes how to incorporate paid opportunities in a way that it actually helps you guys. I'm not trying to just take a check and bounce. THANK YOU for being supportive!!!!! love you
if you are a darker skinned woman and you dont feel confident in you skin, go outside on a bright sunny day and look at your arms. they will be shiny and glistening almost like you have precious metals woven into your skin. one day i noticed that and have been in love ever since.
My parents are from Vietnam, where the beauty standard is white pale skin. My mom was very tan from working out in the fields and such. She would tell me how when she was with my aunt, who had pale skin, she would always get compared to her. She would get comments such as, "Your sister has such white skin, why are you so dark? You don't even look like each other, are you even sisters?" This really hurt her self esteem and made her feel ugly. Don't let people bring you down because they can't see your beauty. You are so much more than that.
rEaR vIeW Vietnam and Myanmar. A lot of people are very Tan there yet they idolise pale while skin. In Myanmar even there's a saying brown beautiful meaning that your brown but you're beautiful implying that you're ugly because you're brown. So yea that's our messed up society
As a mixed kid. I have a black mom and a white dad. I was born white. I don't experience the black hate but I for sure notice it when I am around my mom. And all the stuff Jackie is talking about I see EVERY DAY! I am sick and tired of it. I am so glad that this video trended and people watched it. We need the awareness. Love ya girl ❤️
I pray to get on that level soon.. I still remember being bullied by my sis for having darker skin at a very young age (that scared me until now in my 20s) n the racism I faced in Australia where whites would laugh at my skin etc.. Just an horrible experience so far..I pray I become confident in my skin
daric nd There's seemingly a lot of racism in Australia which is disappointing because it's such a beautiful country... Please don't listen to them and stand up for yourself where you can. God, I hope that country and any others like it wake up and realise their mistakes one day.
East Asian here, colorism is so extreme that it's been seen as norm and I never see people questioning it ever. Every beauty product is all about whitening your skin. EVERY SINGLE ONE
RedTaiL that's so true. I remember going to the food skin shop in Seoul Korea and everything with skin care was about whitening and lightening the skin. I eventually found the black head strips I was looking for but it was a major eye roll. I'm black btw
Geez, yeah I've known about that. I gotta say, how the hell do they not bleach their skin all the time. I know theres a thing of absolutely no sunlight touching, or a lot of spf, but still. With all the face whitening, wouldn't your skin be uneven?? (I can't tell you how upset I was as a young teen and no matter how many times I read it I didn't see that it said whitening in tini tini letters, or n o t a t a l l. Which is insane to me.)
whitening isn't skin bleaching. whitening (at least in korea) means that it evens out the skin tone, like it takes away the dark spots and therefore makes your skin "whiter" (since most people in s.korea have light skin).
RedTaiL I know in Asian countries beauty is more serious .. & people believe you have to be a certain way just to feel accepted in society. I just wish that people could find beauty in themselves & not fall into the abyss of others thoughts.
I swear the best thing she said was if it doesn't work for you, just say it doesn't work for you. Why do people have to ruin someone else's fun because it isn't something they would do?
I'm half black half Asian, and people let me tell you living in Asia is hard.. lol I got people always asking me like :why you so dark? 😂 tf? Everytime I try to get some skin care products or makeup people always assume that I want to be lighter 😂 girl you gotta live your life and leave me alone..
Can we address how some women are taken aback when another woman compliments them on their makeup, hair, clothes, etc? we're outchea tryna build each other up instead of cut each other down. no one else is gonna build us up, so we have to be strong for each other! thank you, Jackie!
It's the worse when they refuse to take the compliment too. I used to compliment a friend's outfits sometimes, and she'd always shoot it down and talk bad about herself. One day I was just like "Girl, can you just take the compliment and allow people to be nice to you?"
As an adult white single mom I'm embarrassed about how miss informed I was growing up. But you my dear have opened my eyes ALOT and I adore you! Keep doing what you do!!! I love you! and not in a creepy stalker way!
I agree Amber. I am very white and live in Australia. I have not encountered that many black people but i never knew they were treated any differently in this day and age. I admit to being very ignorant but i think subscribing to your channel will make me see things the way they really are for the real woman.
Sharna Keady and Amber Cole I grew up in a rural setting and had zero black friends growing up. I LOVE Jackie. She has such humor and heart and I feel like she is my friend.
Wow, I live in Europe and I am really not confronted with any of this. Dark skin and light skin is equally beautiful and everyone can wear whatever the heck they want here and I feel like it is appreciated on everybody. Nobody is told what looks good on their skin tone and what doesn't. At least I have never heard such things. Situation must be very different in the US or maybe I've lived under a rock?🤔
*the funny thing is jackie was speaking some hard facts and people are really talking outta they asses tryna say that I AS A BLACK PERSON and jackie as a black woman made this shit up when THEY ARE MOST LIKELY THE PEOPLE SAYING THESE THINGS!!!!!*
Yes, precisely, that's why they're defending through obfuscation. Cowards know they're wrong or they'd leave a name. If they leave name, they're stupid, so all in all, racists are either stupid or cowards.
not to take away from the message of this video...but god damn the combination of your eyeshadow and outfit is absolutely stunning! I love this & I hope that this video can maybe help some of your younger viewers, or anyone who is feeling a little less than beautiful just the way they are.
Jackie looks amazing in that lime green shirt and her shadow is gorgeous. I once bought a shirt like that and I looked like I was sick it was not flattering at all. She on the other hand looks amazing.
When my dad was sixteen he worked at a makeup counter, in the 80s. He cried because a dark skinned woman came in and he felt so awful for having to say there was no foundation dark enough for her :((((
I'm British, but my fam is south asian and play white skin is seen as pretty. I'm 15 years old and I've heard people say that's it's gonna be hard for you to find a husband (for arranged marriage. You can choose not to be arranged ofc.) Cuz your dark so this video made me smile so much!! Thanks Jackie.
The saddest thing for me is when I suggest these things to my black friends and THEY say they cant wear it. They've started to believe these lies! Black girls in bright, bold colours are so stunning!
I've heard so many racist comments over the years from people like "She wouldn't be beautiful if she didn't have white in her" " Why would anyone want to date a black person ? Or have a black kid ?" It's really disheartening to here that because beauty is not deemed by race, color of your skin, how tall or short you are etc.Everyone is beautiful in their own way...I wouldn't want my nieces & nephews to grow up thinking they're anything less than amazing human beings wth full potential to do anything that they dream of just because some jerk decides to spread those racist lies.Thank you for uploading this.I feel these things definitely needed to be addressed. If people don't think racism still exists they need to take a look around (racism still happens to everyone regardless of color or race). This look is amazing on your by the way ! ❤️
Black women have paved the way for practically everything historically and not to mention the "baddie" trends today and it makes me so mad that everyone is tryna make black women look so bad like black women are so beautiful!! even when it wasn't "trendy" to be apart of black culture and WOC, I always thought black women looked bomb and we're gorgeous, and I've never understand the colorism against dark skins bc they really out here doin the most in the beauty industry tbh
Can we talk about how "nude" literally just means naked. So flesh toned. Flesh comes in all different colours so if you're deep skin toned woman, chocolate is your nude. Props to Louboutin with his new range of nude shoes that come in all different shades of nude.
RealityCheck1993 companies really need to address the way they name shades. Like why are shades for white skin tones named "flesh" and "natural", like deep skin is unnatural?
I honestly from the bottom of my heart want to thank you for this.. wanted to cry. I feel this so deeply as a black young woman. I appreciate you for using your platform, bc everyone and else is scared to.
Honestly, things like this sometimes still get to me, as a grown ass dark-skinned woman. I'm tired. It makes me so emotional to navigate all of the social structures that make sure we never feel beautiful. Thank you for this, Jackie. 🌹
It's true about animals! Black cats (regardlessly of personality) here at the shelter stay like, no joke, 3 times as long as white/light cats. Now let's talk about white/light cats! They get more attention, more inquiry, and ofc are quick to get adopted. Thankfully we're a no kill shelter :/ :s :(
Damn I feel bad for Jackie getting all this unnecessary drama and hate from people because she's such a genuine and awesome person...... stay strong and stay beautiful gurl! 💜
It's funny how us white people are so threatened by dark skin that we feel the need to tell them that they don't look good in anything that doesn't make them blend into the background. Like... bitch, you ever see the way those bright colors pop on dark skin? And don't even get me started on gold highlighter 😍
THE IYANLA CLIP!!! Also thank you for being a beauty youtuber who isn't too afraid to spill the tea on racism particularly in the beauty industry/community! you are iconic
this video means so much to me, Jackie. I'm a dark skinned Latina that lived in a small town of Kansas (racist as helllll) and I remember kids would always make fun of my skin. I bleached my skin around the age of 10 behind my moms back because of bullying. It's taken me so long to accept the beauty us melanin girls have. You've really helped me and many others. I love you girl 💖💖
Sometimes I feel like I'm not allowed to agree with Jackie because I'm white. But that's not Jackie's doing. That's the internet's doing. That being said, YAS SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
I'm white and I think dark skin people pull off colours better than white people!!! I look horrific in bright colours, no way could I wear the chartreuse silk blouse and matching eyeshadow look like my girl Jackie is serving!!!!! You look BOMB girl
Lucy Du Feu don't put yourself down. Looking good in something is about confidence and finding the right balance for you. Your skin colour shouldn't come into it. Beauty comes from within and just how people say dark skin doesn't suit things which they are wrong about, likewise pale skin can rock anything with the right balance. ☺😊
tucheeseyforu :3 And here you badgers coming in to derail. It's true and it happens. People expect darker skin women to be insecure by default cause they're dark skin, cause there's a huge negative stereotype against dark skin. Stfu and educate your damn self.
Girl I had to pause the video after the red lips part. I grabbed my brown lip liner, put on Rooch from Colourpop, highlighted my cupid's bow and had to stunt on myself in the mirror at 3AM for a few minutes cause I looked damn good. I am so here for red lips on dark skin tones. YAAASS! ❤️
so happy you talked about darker skin tones needing SPF!! I was doing research a couple years ago and was shocked to see that black women in 2015 still believed that myth of not needing sunscreen/sunblock. Thanks for using your platform to educate! -future black dermatologist
doingthis forclass omg true, the other day I realised that my skin was getting kinda flakey (and I have oily, combination skin) but in a way that looked like it was burnt skin coming off. I just thought my skin was on a snake ting and it was gonna be rejuvenated once it was done peeling like yaaaas! Then my sister (she's like a health guru) just looked at me like "no sweetie you got sun burn" 💀💀💀💀
Jackie, I'm pale as hell and have been bullied about it my entire life. I dropped out of school and was homeschooled for years because my self esteem was so low. I love videos like this! Super dark and super pale are sexy as hell!!!
I am basically as pale as a pile of fresh snow and this video is EVERYTHING. I love that you can speak to everyone about having confidence and just about everyone being beautiful. I've always thought that red lips look better on darker skin, so idk what's up with that. I personally am in that "I don't think red looks good on me" phase. I've tried like...two red lipsticks. But maybe I just need a different undertone. I love you Jackie ❤️❤️❤️
Noir Belle oh, red is definitely one of those tricky colors! I'm Latina and sporting this weird shade of medium-olive skin that is so hard to match with anything, and red lips were a nightmare. I remember hearing everyone saying 'you need to avoid warm reds because they make your teeth look yellow, go for blue based reds!', the thing is, blue based reds look awful in me. When I went to warm reds and corals everything changed! Jackie is completely right about undertones, that's what makes it or breaks it. Play with testers a lot on the back of your hand, it helps a lot for when you want to discard certain shades... I definitely did that more than once with a whole row of reds (and probably other colors too lol)
Colorism is a cancer 😫 I remember being 13 and looking up bleaching videos because I wanted to lighter like my friends at school. I'm so glad now I'm comfortable in my skin but it took some time
Being Asian, it's completely true that white is seen as beautiful. Especially in East Asia, people forget there's a lot of brown Asians (like my mother who is Malaysian) and there's whitening products and advertisements EVERYWHERE to follow the Korean Beauty Standard. They act like it's the norm and you honestly won't see an advertisement depicting beauty with a POC anywhere. It's incredibly sad.
Oh girl, I feel you. I live in the Philippines and whitening products are all over the market. I just wanna wash my face without changing my skintone, damn! It'd be one thing if they advertised these products as remedies for hyperpigmentation, scars, etc. - but no, we've got ads of girls shrieking at their brown skin, then ~*transforming*~ into an It Girl once they've slathered on a whitening lotion. Ugh.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with showing off your wealth. I watched a video about bleaching creams in Jamaica and the people who can afford the creams are considered more beautiful. Similarly white people go on expensive holidays or use fake tan to achieve the look of an expensive holiday to distinguish themselves from the poorer class who cannot afford such things. Historically a tan has been a sign of agricultural work outdoors, the sign of a peasant, whereas pale people had the luxury of not working and protecting their fair skin. Granted, I'm white, so I don't know the other side of these things. I think it's very sad. We should all just enjoy the skin we were born with. I use high SPF to protect myself from cancer, a lot of people don't because they want to tan. I don't even use self tan even though it would probably make my limbs look longer and slimmer. All my friends and even my mum do, though.
My skin tone's the same as Jackie's and I've been told certain looks and colours don't suit me... and it's ALWAYS light-skinned women that say it. It got to the point I wondered if they just didn't want me to look my best or something. They're so discouraging... but I've been told by plenty of other people (aka guys, and people not into make-up) that I'm really beautiful and with make-up, I look more amazing so now I'm l just challenge those horrible people by saying that I'm clearly attractive and get plenty of compliments regardless of their opinion. I encourage all dark-skinned folks to do the same. Who knows, you probably turn waaaaaaay more heads than the naysayers!
I make my friend watch Jackie because she doesn't have any confidence and this video really helped her out she doesn't feel dark is beautiful and now she does.
As an artist, people need to learn how Color theory and contrast works....Dark and light DOES go together. Dark and light is like Yin and Yang. There's a BALANCE...Thank you Jackie
I've been struggling this for a while now. But my mom is a lot lighter than my dad and my siblings take after her skin tone while I take after my darker father. As a child my mom taught me that my sister would always be more beautiful because she was lighter. I grew up with the woman that should be my role model telling me that my skin is too dark. I used to stay inside all the time and avoid the sun up until I was very vitamin D deficient at age 12. Rather than actually going out more I opted to start supplements instead. I am still trying to overcome these ideas and I have started going out more so I can ween off of supplements and be comfortable doing what I want and living my life. Watching your videos have been so much help. Having someone who is such a beauty and so confident in their melanin is inspiring. Thank you Jackie ❤️
Girl, please go out outside and STUNT on them with all that melanin. You seriously have NO idea the power you hold! Don't waste it. I'm telling you, the dark skin beauty walking by with self-assuredness, esteem and confidence will ALWAYS turn heads. Because they just have IT...a beauty that cannot be replicated. Let the haters n self-haters seethe at your beauty.
I totally understand how you feel. I know I'm not that dark, but I was darker as a child because I stayed in the sun. I have two very very light skin sisters and people always use to ask me why was I darker. (As if I knew the answer to that.) It broke my heart when my own grandmother asked me that question. :(
Folake KO A mother should uplift all of her children and not some based on their skin tone. I'm so sorry you had to grow up being told you were not beautiful or good enough. You're gorgeous, you were kissed by God and blessed with rich melanin. Your black is gold, and your black is beautiful, never let anyone tell you otherwise. I hope one day you can look in the mirror and see how beautiful you truly are
Im white as a ghost and prone to freckling which means I have a higher chance of getting skin cancer and every blemish I get shows up for weeks! I wish the obsession with fairness would go away bc I think deep skin is flawless. when i was a kid I wished I had deep skin like my friends growing up so my redness and breakouts wouldn't show!! great video 👌
Breakouts definitely do show tho.... lmao but unless its a really bad allergic reaction like I have had... dark skinned people can turn red occasionally
I remember when I was little I saw a black women in a red dress and blonde hair and I thought she was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. funny how a child's perspective is so open compared to an adults. we aren't born to judge and criticize, we make the choice to be and that's gross. ignorance is a choice at this point in history and that's sad
the reality is, vibrant hair colors, lip colors, eyeshadow colors etc look especially good on dark skin. the way they pop on our deep complexions is what really does them justice.
Simply Debbie Girl. Anyone can pull off a red lip. sometimes it helps to make the rest of your make-up subtle if you feel uncomfortable, at first. Once you find the right shade, you can't wait till the next time you get to use it.
A beautiful, strong red lipstick looks good on any skin tone, from the lightest to the darkest . The only important thing is that you have to feel good wearing it. You will look wonderful!
JayZ said it best with, "Light black, dark black, faux black, real black, Rich black, poor black, house black, field black, Still black, still black" he used a different word but you catch the jist 😜
I've always had a love for burgundy hair, but I always thought I was too dark to pull it off. Thanks for the motivation because I'm so going to it. Side note: I'm glad to see you partnered with Bare Minerals. I've been using their products since 2005 and I think that they have ALWAYS done a great job of providing a wide range of products for us brown girls.
My girl hitting on COLORISM and racism on that social construct level. KILL IT AUNT JACKIE!! If anyone hasn't seen the documentary Dark Girls please watch Edit: comment had to be edited because god forbid I be human and misspell a word. Go play in someone else's comments please.
Brittney Horton Thank you my dear lol but this is a meme on my profile picture but I'm just as dark! I grew up hating my skin because i was made fun of to the point I begged my friend to steal her aunties bleaching products 😥 but now I'm in my 30's and I love my skin more than ever.❤️❤️
Who would thumbs down a video with such an amazing and uplifting message? Thank you Jackie for always keeping it real and for being such a beautiful human (inside as well as out).
honestly don't understand why people say that darker skinned people look bad in certain colors, yall rock the entire rainbow and everything pops, it looks amazing.
damn... if I had a dollar for every time I heard "You're pretty, for a black girl." or "Na. You too pretty. You gotta be mixed with something." Nope... just black and pretty.
Yo. This use to make me happy but as I got older I'm like wth... Now it just irritates the hell out of me. Like dark skin girls can't be pretty or have long hair. There are so many beautiful dark skinned girls all over the place. Just stop lol
Shaneka Wallace GIRL!!!!! Do you have any idea how many times people have told me I "HAVE" to be mixed? Like I am straight negro honey I don't have to be mixed for you to find me attractive fuck off
me and my sister are close in age and looked like twins when we were little, but only difference is she's light skinned like my mom and i'm dark skin like my dad. I remember being 8 years old and someone legit said to me: "oh my god, you two look just alike, but why does your sister look so much better than you?" I could tell the person was commenting on my skin tone because me and my sis could've been twins. I wish I remembered who that person was so i could tell them today to go to hell.
Oshi Le that is so out of line and disgusting what the hell? Some people just need to shut the fuck up. Especially that kinda shit. It's so uncalled for.
Props to Jackie for keeping the people WOKE and props to bareminerals for allowing Jackie to create this sponsored video. Regardless I'm sure Jackie would make this video, but knowing that a beauty brand supports poc and jackie's work is A+++++
My Caucasian mother always spoke so fondly of her black female co-workers. She loved their bright business casual attire and bold colors that contrasted so beautifully against their dark skintones. They rocked red lipstick and white pumps. I have always loved how black women could blend brilliant colors into their twists and braids!
Opal Stoat I feel / have always felt that way. We are NOT all ignorant, intolerant or racist. I am proud of my pastey skin & find all skin colors beautiful, sexy and find all women empowering.
I'm a wig wearing Hispanic girl and it irritates the crap out of me when people say "0h that's only for black girls" my face 😒😒 I hate stereotype people ... everyone should be able to rock whatever they want as long as they feel comfortable in it!!!
As someone who is a part of our beautiful chocolate rainbow, you couldn't stop me from wearing a fierce bright matte red lip when going out. I ALWAYS be feeling myself to the fullest 💯💯💯 Love you and this video Jackie!!! 😘
Diamond Seraphin girl get that shit👏honestly bright pigmented makeup looks amazing and just really pops on black girls. Personally I'm too scared to wear bright bold makeup...Asian parents can get VERY VERY rude and judgmental when you're not "normal" 🤦🏻♀️also I still can't believe some people actually think/say black women can wear red lipstick. I actually think they pull it off the best💁🏻
Diana Banana Thank you! but girl, one day, you too can rock the red lip. I just let my lips be the star of the show by having very simple eye makeup. And before I was comfortable in bright red I constantly wore deep/wine colored reds; they are pretty on everybody! I still do when I'm not trying to be super bold. I switch that up with terracotta type reds sometimes too. It's like Jackie said, there is a red out there for you! And I bet that if your make up is done really right, given the right occasion, even your parents will appreciate how beautiful you'll look 😉 more power to you!
I'm dark Skinned and people always ask me how do I have the confidence to wear bright hair and lipsticks. The question is, how don't you? Live your life sis!
Kaielle Sykes - I bet you not one White person asked you that
Marc Thompson you just lost a bet 🤷♀️
Kaielle Sykes Nice comeback 😂😂😂👌
Black German - yes it was amazing! 😜
I always though bold lipstick suited either very dark people or very pale people best
dark root are the lipliner for hair
Christian Johnson you are a visionary! I wanna be as woke as you!!
Chrissy Johnson this blew my mind
Mycupkakes87 lmao mate very funny!
Noella Abba is a troll, his/her channel has a playlist with just black rappers 😐😐
You didn't deny it, and you hid the playlist.
Girlll, I am LIVING for this eye and blouse combo and your hair compliments it as well.
Where'd you get this top? 👀
I've been gagging the whole video!! This combo is sickening! She has to do a video on this look
TheGhettoSnobSeries SAME HERE
TheGhettoSnobSeries Hey I just started my channel and wondering if you would like to support my channel by subscribing and leaving some feedback on my videos. I am fairly new so it is a working progress but any tips you have would be appreciated!
xoxo,
Kim
I was wondering the same thing! I'm here for it
My mom used to talk SO MUCH SHIT about me wanting to wear red lipstick and I kept wearing it because I honestly didn't see what she saw when I put it on and looked in the mirror. A few years later I bought her red lipstick and a good lip liner and I did her makeup and showed her and told her, you think it's ugly because someone told you it is. It's not, look at you. And she changed her mind ever since then.
Manii Coleman awh that’s so sweet of you to change her perspective
I actually think red lipstick looks amazing on darker skin
Manii Coleman aww how sweet
That eye look and blouse combo has me fucked up jackie! Puhlease hit me with that tutorial.
Right it's like 90s TLC glam SO GOOD
Raini Kim i was about to say that 😂
sjb2006 it's like 90s mixed with a 2017 makeup look I love it
Yes! Love this look! We need a tutorial!!!
I was thinking the same thing it's not fair for her to just come out here with eye shadow/blouse coordination like tan nuthin
I'm Asian with a tan/darker skin and was always told I'd look horrible in blonde... I've been blonde for about 2 years now cause I do what I want 😂
Blonde looks amazing on you!
Yurika Mae you do you 🙆🙆🙆 they mad out here
i think u look great lol
+Patrezia Jozwic 😴😴😴😴
From your photo, I'm assuming that's you, you look gorgeous so I say keep owning it!
My sister-in-law was blonde and tan for most of high school. I really want to see because she's so beautiful and I'm sure it looked fabulous but she's embarrassed to show photos. Probably because it's more of a counter-culture in Japan, so now that's she's 30 it feels silly to her or something. Still, I'm sure she rocked it like a queen.
your makeup with the shirt.. so satisfying
lol ikr?
Megan Rosenbery I thought the same!
you see what I did there...
YAs
I was the 666th like 🤦🏽♀️
White dude here. I didn't subscribed because of the makeup looks but because I think you are a funny & gorgeous person. That type of video is incredible and I agree with everything you say. Do whatever the hell you want with your look. Thank you for being real with the issues, the world needs it.
NiGHTSaturn this is so respectable and beautiful
MysticMuse ikr, it's so weird when people do that
Edit: but I think the point is to let us (dark skinned people) know that there are lighter skinned people standing with us
NiGHTSaturn s I respect you, and I appreciate your opinion.
NiGHTSaturn same idgf about the make up she just funny AF
ughhh mcrbinch That was the point! It's not like my profile picture makes it obvious too haha!
Ashane' Stewart you're gorgeous!!
omg im so happy for you. I hope your skin recovered from all of that.
#blackisbeautiful
Ashane' Stewart So glad Jesus helped you love the skin he made you to have:)
Ashane' Stewart Hola Iam very sad to hear that u were not comfortable in ur skin. we are the most beautiful people in the world. we as a ppl come in all color of pigmentation, we also come from all walks of life. just to enlighten u every other nationality
want have be our pigmentation..
Get ya coin!
fr fr, I love it.
Amongst all the sponsorship hate (for a lot of good reasons might I add) I really do appreciate this! I put a lot of thought into my content and that includes how to incorporate paid opportunities in a way that it actually helps you guys. I'm not trying to just take a check and bounce. THANK YOU for being supportive!!!!! love you
Lakyn Marie she not even dark skinned
Kenwood Drive yes she is 🙄🤦🏾♀️
Lakyn Marie 1,000nth like!!! 👏🏼👏🏼😃
why is it so satisfying that her eyeshadow matches her top.
i think everyone who liked this wanted to comment this lol i know i did
if you are a darker skinned woman and you dont feel confident in you skin, go outside on a bright sunny day and look at your arms. they will be shiny and glistening almost like you have precious metals woven into your skin. one day i noticed that and have been in love ever since.
You are so much more than that.
lam I bet your mama is gorgeous
rEaR vIeW that white beauty standard is popular throughout all of Asia sadly.
rEaR vIeW Unfortunately, yes. Tanned women are viewed as dirty and often times lower class. Pale girls are praised though.
Daddy Devito Thank you, she is. ^^
rEaR vIeW Vietnam and Myanmar. A lot of people are very Tan there yet they idolise pale while skin. In Myanmar even there's a saying brown beautiful meaning that your brown but you're beautiful implying that you're ugly because you're brown. So yea that's our messed up society
Darker skin gals look amazing in bright colours!!
Beauty by Becci yes!! I envy it!
Thanks
Im black and a gifted kid :3

AdrianXpression ayyyyyyye Adrian idk why I got so excited to see you. I just know who you "AHM" X'D ♥♥
I kind of understand my mom is half black and my dad is white
lil mouse the best seriously dude.
lil mouse the best shut ya coward ass up
Ender White when you say you were born white, do you mean they put "white" on your birth certificate ?
Kandi Oubre Meaning he's white passing.
Being darker skinned, you go through levels of acceptance with yourself. im on level , done! im so full of myself its disgusting✌
LOL I loves it!
I'm light skinned mixed and I've always kinda been jealous of my darker skinned sistas. You go, girls!! 💜💜
I pray to get on that level soon.. I still remember being bullied by my sis for having darker skin at a very young age (that scared me until now in my 20s) n the racism I faced in Australia where whites would laugh at my skin etc.. Just an horrible experience so far..I pray I become confident in my skin
daric nd that's sad to hear, don't listen to the rude racist people, they don't deserve your attention
daric nd There's seemingly a lot of racism in Australia which is disappointing because it's such a beautiful country...
Can't agree more...all products are whitening skin lightening crap
I swear the best thing she said was if it doesn't work for you, just say it doesn't work for you. Why do people have to ruin someone else's fun because it isn't something they would do?
You're such a strong and uplifting woman, and I really look up to you
The worst of all is when people say " you're cute to be dark skinned" 😳 people 🗣 that is NOT a compliment🗣..can I just be cute with no stipulations 🙄
kealia caldwell OMG kills me when that happens!!!
kealia caldwell yesssss👌💪🏿
kealia caldwell If I got a subbie for everytime I heard that I would be on Jackie's level 😂😂😂
kealia caldwell I'm brown skin and I've always hated to hear people say that!! Like what?!? How about she's just pretty 🤔🙄
I've had guys tell me id be hot if I got a tan. Like what?? Some people have no tact.
Dark skinned ladies look AMAZING in yellow and nobody can ever say that they don't because they slay yellow so hard i cant even
I'm half black half Asian, and people let me tell you living in Asia is hard.. lol I got people always asking me like :why you so dark? 😂 tf? Everytime I try to get some skin care products or makeup people always assume that I want to be lighter 😂 girl you gotta live your life and leave me alone..
Yang Amber
You're beautiful
You tell em Yang Amber! You gorgeous in all ways.
THATS WHEN YOU SAY TO THEM... BECAUSE IM BEAUTIFUL !!!
Yang Amber you’re beautiful too, I don’t get that? What’s wrong with this world we live in.
Amen to that! My friends and I have no problem complimenting each other. I compliment strangers too. I love spreading the love...
🗣GURL!!!! Eyes. Hair. SKIN. TOP!!! Alllll-ah-dis is giving me LIFE!!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Andrea Renee : That wig and blouse combo though?! Miss Jackie looking like a goddamn 🌷
Andrea Renee yes!!!
Maryam Khiani No you are right I really think that in Europe it is different
yeah u lived under a rock or heaven
YOUR SHIRT MATCHES YOUR EYESHADOW! I'M LOVING IT!
Coco Chinelo Yeah! I wonder who came up with the "rule" that it shouldn't?
Skye Smith unrelated to your comment but what lipstick are you wearing in your profile picture
Skye Smith ikr...that's the focal point....and don't forget the gold pink hair...it's all coming together!!!

I've always been jealous of how colors seems more vibrant on darker skin.
Jennifer Ellis idk if it's just me but like yellows, bright oranges and striking reds look so good on dark complexions lol
Yes black women can wear a really strong pink or orange blush and look amazing and i look like i played in my mums makeup
How about when they wear metallic eyeshadows, like Jackie is in this video? I die.
Jackie looks amazing in that lime green shirt and her shadow is gorgeous. I once bought a shirt like that and I looked like I was sick it was not flattering at all. She on the other hand looks amazing.
Lmao right? I love yellows and oranges, but they look like jaundice on me.
When dark skinned women love theirselves it makes me so happy, black is beautiful
Chloe Jknes yupp melanin on fleek
When my dad was sixteen he worked at a makeup counter, in the 80s. He cried because a dark skinned woman came in and he felt so awful for having to say there was no foundation dark enough for her :((((
grace baird omg so sad 😔still don't have shades for us
Mela Child maybelline fit me girrll
oh my god that's awful!! I would cry too
Mela Child L' Oreal true match sis.
There was greasy ass Fashion fair and that was it.
Thanks Jackie.
deception8055 Which is crazy because u look very pale. Not in a mean way but I literally see no color in u.
Her pfp isn't her LOL
Then you're not British. Go back to your shithole.

waltersommer then that means I’m nOt Spanish because my family is a mix of German and African?
LOOK AT THIS BLACK GODDESS😍😍
The saddest thing for me is when I suggest these things to my black friends and THEY say they cant wear it. They've started to believe these lies! Black girls in bright, bold colours are so stunning!
Christel 스텔 you don't care or understand what black women problem because you are a privilege white women
Ava Davies if you're gonna be a bitter racist, at least write with proper grammar
You are sad, Ava Davies. YOU are sad.
@Ava , I don't often say this but ' Shut the hell up"
Ava Davies WTF is your problem?? You're going on folks who actually show support! Exhale girl.
You are the DIAMOND of the TH-cam community. Your message is always empowering and your attitude is so genuine. You are amazing Jackie. ❤
Black women have paved the way for practically everything historically and not to mention the "baddie" trends today and it makes me so mad that everyone is tryna make black women look so bad like black women are so beautiful!! even when it wasn't "trendy" to be apart of black culture and WOC, I always thought black women looked bomb and we're gorgeous, and I've never understand the colorism against dark skins bc they really out here doin the most in the beauty industry tbh

you're awesome

Can we talk about how "nude" literally just means naked. So flesh toned. Flesh comes in all different colours so if you're deep skin toned woman, chocolate is your nude. Props to Louboutin with his new range of nude shoes that come in all different shades of nude.
Fianlly sis! I've been saying this for ages!!
sis, you're invited to the cookout 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Agreed. Though I do side eye a little cause companies won't ever call those nudes "nude".
RealityCheck1993 companies really need to address the way they name shades. Like why are shades for white skin tones named "flesh" and "natural", like deep skin is unnatural?
Kasie.Riley I
I honestly from the bottom of my heart want to thank you for this.. wanted to cry.

RaeJeanapwnsn00bz Same.
It's true about animals! Black cats (regardlessly of personality) here at the shelter stay like, no joke, 3 times as long as white/light cats. Now let's talk about white/light cats! They get more attention, more inquiry, and ofc are quick to get adopted.
Thankfully we're a no kill shelter :/ :s :(
Lmao i absolutely love black cats
Wow......I didn’t know animals at good shelters experience our problems too
Damn I feel bad for Jackie getting all this unnecessary drama and hate from people because she's such a genuine and awesome person...... stay strong and stay beautiful gurl! 💜
As someone of South Asian descent and dark complexion, this video hits home. Thank you for the work you do. Much love!
Yass let them know. Melanin is gold and it's beautiful.
It's funny how us white people are so threatened by dark skin that we feel the need to tell them that they don't look good in anything that doesn't make them blend into the background. Like... bitch, you ever see the way those bright colors pop on dark skin? And don't even get me started on gold highlighter 😍
White shame
Casey Miller I'm not threatened of dark skinned people, you just have to embrace everything is how I was brought up x
Casey Miller true, if my Irish ass wore gold highlighter I'd look like I do crack 😩
Casey Miller "us white people are so threatened by dark skin" lol, speak for yourself
+Luo the fact that you commented further proves how threatened you feel
It's so rare to see celebrities talk about issues like this, much appreciated.
Aria K. Girl I live in Kansas too 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭. They really be trying it here!!! Especially western kansas!
Aria K. Sending you love beautiful 😌❤️
Aria K. how did you bleach your skin at 10 😱😱
Sometimes I feel like I'm not allowed to agree with Jackie because I'm white. But that's not Jackie's doing. That's the internet's doing. That being said, YAS SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Girl, you can totally agree with her. You being white has nothing to do with it. Have a great day gorgeous
Gurrl, do you. Agree with who you want. Shake off the haters.
I hate how people ASSUME you are insecure if you are darker . Or that you have low self esteem
When.... Did anyone ever assume that...?
lmao ikr, like im lightskined af and im the most insecure. like anyone can be insecure
tucheeseyforu :3 And here you badgers coming in to derail. It's true and it happens. People expect darker skin women to be insecure by default cause they're dark skin, cause there's a huge negative stereotype against dark skin. Stfu and educate your damn self.
yes and they are totally shocked when your not and some what offended. LOL
YAAASS! ❤️
Tbh I think you guys look great in red even without the lipliner, it stands out

That white woman screaming it's her opinion was the funniest thing ever! I almost woke up my baby laughing.
Jackie sweetie your makeup is SLAYING my whole existence 😍
I dun care what none of yall say, jackie is slayin' with the blonde
so happy you talked about darker skin tones needing SPF!!
Lauren Teasley pretty comes in all colors and shapes
YES!!!!!
WORK IT
I am basically as pale as a pile of fresh snow and this video is EVERYTHING.
Nicole Feltman Your comment even made my day. You are a lovely person.
Yup. Undertone is EVERYTHING. You can make any color look good if you get a color with the right undertone.
Nicole Feltman U should probably try a pinky or orangey red depending on ur skin tone. 💕
SAME!!!!! #LOVEMYPALESKIN
I'm so glad now I'm comfortable in my skin but it took some time
Beebz omg why?! You are beyond beautiful!!!!
charro028 thank you so much! I've come a long way from my middle school days lol
Ugh.
Peach Pretty sure there are no darkening skin products for a reason.......
@Kyero You never heard of fake tan?
Kyero what about tans lol
That eyeshadow look is life. Tutorial please.
I make my friend watch Jackie because she doesn't have any confidence and this video really helped her out she doesn't feel dark is beautiful and now she does.
Kpop Lover 👏👏👏👏
I'm so happy there's so much POC and cacausians learning so much from this 😭 this community is the best on all of TH-cam 😍
As an artist, people need to learn how Color theory and contrast works....Dark and light DOES go together. Dark and light is like Yin and Yang. There's a BALANCE...Thank you Jackie
I cannot express how much I appreciate this video! My skin tone is not gonna stop me from doing what I want!
Girl you are beautiful ! Got get that vitamin D so you can be healthy on top of being amazingly stunning !
Folake KO you are beautiful! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
I hope one day you can look in the mirror and see how beautiful you truly are
I am in love with the eyeshadow and shirt combination! You look amazing
OKAY!!!! I want to see a tutorial!!!!!
Lol I have darker skin and I have horrible breakouts lol
dark skin people have discoloration around the eyes and month so you should be thankful for your skin really, freckles are cute

Simply Debbie judging from your profile pic, you would look so damn beautiful with those colors! Imma need to see you rock a red lip one time ❤️
Simply Debbie Girl. Anyone can pull off a red lip. sometimes it helps to make the rest of your make-up subtle if you feel uncomfortable, at first. Once you find the right shade, you can't wait till the next time you get to use it.
Simply Debbie Everyone can slay red lipstick😍
Simply Debbie YES GIRL work that vampy/red lip color!
MrsDorset do it girl, you'll look good!
MrsDorset girl, you could EASILY pull off burgundy. Go for it!
MrsDorset girl please. rock your burgandy!
MrsDorset i never saw someone with burgundy hair. YOU WILL LOOK HOT!
MrsDorset you will look great with burgundy hair! ❤️
Me and my self confidence appreciate this video so much.
"Personally, I KNOW I look good" 😂😂 wish I had your confidence you are inspiring 💞
Lisa Loves girl, you’re fabulous! Confidence comes from within 😘
You are beautiful 😍
Why wouldn’t you hun? You are beautiful!
My girl hitting on COLORISM and racism on that social construct level. KILL IT AUNT JACKIE!! If anyone hasn't seen the documentary Dark Girls please watch
Edit: comment had to be edited because god forbid I be human and misspell a word. Go play in someone else's comments please.
Tracey Nickens I watched that several months ago and I never knew there was that struggle. it was enlightening
Tracey Nickens *COLORISM
As a dark skinned girl thank you for this video! I liked it before I even watched because I knew it was gonna be the TRUTH💯👏🏾
Queen Ada Adebayo You are stunning! And yes, she is showing us so much love. I got a little emotional, actually
😢
Brittney Horton Thank you my dear lol but this is a meme on my profile picture but I'm just as dark! I grew up hating my skin because i was made fun of to the point I begged my friend to steal her aunties bleaching products 😥 but now I'm in my 30's and I love my skin more than ever.❤️❤️
Queen Ada Adebayo wow...I'm sorry that you experienced that Queen. I'm so happy that you now see and admire your beauty. ❤
Yesss to the hair switch ups!!😍😍And yesss darker skin tones can wear anything they want. Especially when they tailor it to that melanin.
damn... if I had a dollar for every time I heard "You're pretty, for a black girl." or "Na.
Shaneka Wallace same, but for being Asian..
Oshi Le that is so out of line and disgusting what the hell? Some people just need to shut the fuck up. Especially that kinda shit. It's so uncalled for.
Jackie, that blouse, is gorgeous.
I have siblings ( same parents) , we are ALL different shades of beautiful browns. And we all are treated the same.
Props to Jackie for keeping the people WOKE and props to bareminerals for allowing Jackie to create this sponsored video. Regardless I'm sure Jackie would make this video, but knowing that a beauty brand supports poc and jackie's work is A+++++
I've always been a die hard fan for bareminerals but now I'm an even bigger fan after this video. Love this and love you Jackie 😘❤️
Adeline Camacho I was just thinking that I don't see many WOC reppin Bare Minerals. lol. I love this brand too.
Jamila Baker I be reppin' this line is bomb!
Megan M 🖒
THIS LOOK IS GIVING ME COSMO AND WANDA REALNESS🙌🏽🙌🏽😍
Karen Reyes amen
NeoVixonTV ohhhhh burn, real original omg
Karen Reyes Oh the irony
SO JACKIE I MEAN WERE FIGHTING IF YOU DONT DO A LOOK ON THIS TUTORIAL
WHATS CHOPPIN? I will hold your earrings! This is beautiful and that chartreuse is visually stunning.
You mean a tutorial on this look?
WHATS CHOPPIN? Chartreuse.... **shivers** Anyone know Shane's chartreuse Mandela effect? No? Ok, I'll go home.
Jessica 😂😂😂I was sooo shook by her beauty typed wrong
i am literally captivated by your makeup. the green eyeshadow is stunning
GIRL....I just realized that you need to come out with your own line or collab because i will be HERE WAITING for it!!!! Like if you agree!!!
As someone who is a part of our beautiful chocolate rainbow, you couldn't stop me from wearing a fierce bright matte red lip when going out. I ALWAYS be feeling myself to the fullest 💯💯💯
Love you and this video Jackie!!!
And you look great doing it! ❤️
