Another very interesting vlog. I've just returned from Melrose and Peebles in Scotland where we played two teams at Petanque. My team (Mirfield PC) won both matches to maintain our home international win record for the pastb5 years. Off to Sedbergh to watch Lancashire play Essex at Sedbergh School. Of course, as a Yorkshireman, I will be supporting Essex. lol. I have been there twice before when Lancashire played Durham and Sussex and only just beat them. Keep on producing your vlogs. They are so entertaining.

I work for the NHS too and hoping I can do a retire and return for just two days doing PA work from the boat. It looks like a possibility 👏👏
We even got the news of drunk overboard and the alarm going off in all the cabins here ,didn’t realize you were on that cruise. 🤣😂Hope you’re not melting this weekend, though it’s been quite warm here it isn’t as hot as what the news says you are getting. We live so close to the ocean it’s usually cooler here with the breeze coming from open water. Poor Jynx, my black cat, has been minding the heat though and he’s been laying on his back on the kitchen table under the ceiling fan for hours. Tai on the other hand basks in the sun all afternoon by the French doors and it gets so hot it’s unbearable and he loves it. It’s been a bit hard to sleep soundly though, I keep tossing and turning trying to get comfy, I end up being tired in the morning. Can’t complain though , I waited for the sun all winter moaning about the cold🤣😂. Happy cruising🥰🙋🏼♀️
That would be spooky if we were on the same cruise. 😂. Thankfully it has cooled down significantly but it was unbearable last week. We spent Tuesday Morning in the car with the aircon on. 😬. Aww bless how the cats are so different. I empathise with how you can’t sleep with the heat. We didn’t sleep well for 3 days and am only starting to feel human this week. We just got back from a 3-week trip on nb Bluemoon to Llangollen and back and had a great time, first trip since COVID began, so nice to be out again! I loved how Morning Star looked in the dusk light when you moored up that evening. The boat lights cast beautiful shadows. The Bridgewater Canal - I lived very close to it in Timperley. We have been through the Plank Lane bridge a few times. One time I let a little boy press the button to open the bridge. He and his grandparents were thrilled to bits. Anthony’s got a nose like a bloodhound, he can smell a chippy from a mile away! I do enjoy the bow camera footage with soft water gurgling past the hull and birdsong twittering from the trees❤️. In my daydreams now I will be cruising on WB Away with the Fairies 🧚 I love the paint colors❤️. Loved the style of their boat lettering. Have you narrowed down your paint choices for your new boat? Hey Dawn. I absolutely love the smell of chippy and can definitely smell this from a mile off 😂. The only decision we have made is that we want another shade of green, however that is as far as we’ve got. We are very conscious how much we love Morning Star and want the new boat to be as stunning but this is proving to be a really difficult task. Give Daisy a belly rub from us. The flight of locks at Top Lock, Wigan is currently closed to boats I believe because there is not enough water in the pools in between some of the locks. I was down there the other day and some of the pools were almost completely dried up
You believe right Peter 😞. It was really low through Poolstock when we passed months ago. Some pounds, as you say, virtually empty. A lot of other canals have similar closures for similar reasons. Not sure what the ultimate plan is to sort this water shortage. Hope you have a good week: take care ❤️

Paul not to be a “stick in the mud” but being an old first responder I highly recommend wearing some eye protection when driving in mooring pins. It only takes one swing of the maul to chip off a piece of medal from the pin and lodge in an eye. Super videos as always.

Happy Saturday! I hope you endured the heat OK and that it's over and done. It must have been pretty awful. 🥵 Good to know you had the gear to keep Dexter comfortable. ❤ I'm kind of sick and it's likely Covid. 🤒 I haven't tested yet but my friend tested positive so I likely got it from her. Having had 4 shots it's not bad. If she hadn't tested positive I would just think it was a cold or maybe allergies. Sleeping a lot and a sore throat is the worst of it. It was a lovely vlog as always (pretty countryside) and I hope you are doing well! ❤

Lovely vid. I did cringe at the mention of mooring between the locks. It drains overnight😮. A safety tip, if I may. Note the winding handle on the chain drum @ 4.32. I'm always wary of giving a passing (or piddling) dog a belt round the head when pushing the beam. Hasn't happened yet, but always keep an eye out. Worth also mentioning that the Poolstock locks are now only open on Mondays and Thursdays on a per-booked system due to drought measures on the L&L. Save voyage - Peter

I wrote this once I don’t know what I did but it disappeared so sorry if it comes through twice ,the video I asked about the music was definitely the Wigan flight of 21 locks it was the first one and there was a lone boater with you who had a little jack Russel that ran along the tow path after his boat .It was a short piece and I didn’t catch it properly,I watch your videos over and over so it was not necessarily this week they just run in the background with the music you choose it’s just great as background better than the crap that’s on daytime telly .love to you both xx

Another very interesting vlog. I've just returned from Melrose and Peebles in Scotland where we played two teams at Petanque. My team (Mirfield PC) won both matches to maintain our home international win record for the pastb5 years.
Off to Sedbergh to watch Lancashire play Essex at Sedbergh School. Of course, as a Yorkshireman, I will be supporting Essex. lol.
I have been there twice before when Lancashire played Durham and Sussex and only just beat them.

I work for the NHS too and hoping I can do a retire and return for just two days doing PA work from the boat. It looks like a possibility 👏👏

We even got the news of drunk overboard and the alarm going off in all the cabins here ,didn’t realize you were on that cruise. 🤣😂Hope you’re not melting this weekend, though it’s been quite warm here it isn’t as hot as what the news says you are getting. We live so close to the ocean it’s usually cooler here with the breeze coming from open water. Poor Jynx, my black cat, has been minding the heat though and he’s been laying on his back on the kitchen table under the ceiling fan for hours. Tai on the other hand basks in the sun all afternoon by the French doors and it gets so hot it’s unbearable and he loves it. It’s been a bit hard to sleep soundly though, I keep tossing and turning trying to get comfy, I end up being tired in the morning. Can’t complain though , I waited for the sun all winter moaning about the cold🤣😂. Happy cruising🥰🙋🏼♀️

Thankfully it has cooled down significantly but it was unbearable last week. We spent Tuesday Morning in the car with the aircon on. 😬. Aww bless how the cats are so different. I empathise with how you can’t sleep with the heat. We didn’t sleep well for 3 days and am only starting to feel human this week.

I absolutely love the smell of chippy and can definitely smell this from a mile off 😂. The only decision we have made is that we want another shade of green, however that is as far as we’ve got. We are very conscious how much we love Morning Star and want the new boat to be as stunning but this is proving to be a really difficult task. Give Daisy a belly rub from us. Seemed a nice relaxed trip this week. Always love the scenery. It is nice to see some of the old buildings and even the newer ones built alongside the canal.

Always an enjoyable episode. Still the most beautiful narrowboats on the canals. Bummer about the possibility of hooligans' messing with you and or your boats in some areas. What can you legally do to protect yourself. Where I live, you could punch the guy straight in the snoz. You know us Americans, were all cowboys. LOL! Stay groovy and stay safe.

The flight of locks at Top Lock, Wigan is currently closed to boats I believe because there is not enough water in the pools in between some of the locks. I was down there the other day and some of the pools were almost completely dried up
You believe right Peter 😞. It was really low through Poolstock when we passed months ago. Some pounds, as you say, virtually empty. A lot of other canals have similar closures for similar reasons. Not sure what the ultimate plan is to sort this water shortage. Hope you have a good week: take care ❤️

Aww we absolutely love the bird song. The heatwave was terrible. We had all the blinds shut to try and minimise the heat. Tuesday morning we all spent in the car with the aircon on full blast. We were more concerned with keeping Dexter cool bless him. Thankfully it has cooled now. Have a great week and take care ❤️
Paul not to be a “stick in the mud” but being an old first responder I highly recommend wearing some eye protection when driving in mooring pins. It only takes one swing of the maul to chip off a piece of medal from the pin and lodge in an eye. Super videos as always.

Happy Saturday! I hope you endured the heat OK and that it's over and done. It must have been pretty awful. 🥵 Good to know you had the gear to keep Dexter comfortable. ❤ I'm kind of sick and it's likely Covid. 🤒 I haven't tested yet but my friend tested positive so I likely got it from her. Having had 4 shots it's not bad. If she hadn't tested positive I would just think it was a cold or maybe allergies. Sleeping a lot and a sore throat is the worst of it.

Lovely vid. I did cringe at the mention of mooring between the locks. It drains overnight😮. A safety tip, if I may. Note the winding handle on the chain drum @ 4.32. I'm always wary of giving a passing (or piddling) dog a belt round the head when pushing the beam. Hasn't happened yet, but always keep an eye out. Worth also mentioning that the Poolstock locks are now only open on Mondays and Thursdays on a per-booked system due to drought measures on the L&L. Save voyage - Peter

@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked The chains are usually there because the beams are shorter due to bridges such as locks 69 and 77 on the flight, or if the gates are particularly tough to close as with the nearside tailgates on locks 74 and 75. 75 used to have a winch, but no more.

I wrote this once I don’t know what I did but it disappeared so sorry if it comes through twice ,the video I asked about the music was definitely the Wigan flight of 21 locks it was the first one and there was a lone boater with you who had a little jack Russel that ran along the tow path after his boat .It was a short piece and I didn’t catch it properly,I watch your videos over and over so it was not necessarily this week they just run in the background with the music you choose it’s just great as background better than the crap that’s on daytime telly .love to you both xx
