The vibe and dynamics of this song remind me a little bit of "Tell Me What You Want From Me" from Steve Lukather's recent album "Ever Changing Times" --
Don't get me wrong, The Mars Volta is my favorite band, but they are the KINGS of putting absolutely nothing in the middle of songs. Look at the song Miranda, that Ghost Just Ain't Holy Anymore or the songs Since We've Been Wrong or Luciforms.
@Dreamwar I thought it was the fifth album they made. Didn't check though. Anyway, I like it (and a lot of the songs they did while Neal Morse was in the band.
i dont understand, that person was right you know? there is like 4 minutes of silence at the end with no sound at all, this song is actually only 6 minutes long. how could you say hes new to prog for saying that? i must be new to prog than as well cuz i agree with him. im sure it was just an error in the making of the video. no offence, but it makes no sence why this is the top comment if you knew thw whole story. big misunderstanding. just though ide point it out lol. not a big deal really...
"Whats the point of those last 4-5 minutes of silence? Those are unnecessary." Yes agree :/. Especially adding this clearer sounding version on a Playlist (yes, I do own the album/CD).
might be one of my top SB songs, the whole melody and song is amazing.
the electric piano makes me cry with joy

mvunit3 Sorry, Windows Movie Maker did it and I wasn't paying attention when I published this. 8+ years ago.
Awww :( No worries, 8 years is a long time. I wish the band would allow folks to put up "At the end of the day".
