Although I get Dr. Hyles intention with the sermon I think he either totally missed or simply did not know the interpretation of the treasure in the field. I would think if he knew the interpretation he would have at least mentioned it. He used the Scofield reference Bible exclusively and Scofield is wrong on the parable saying that Israel is the treasure in the field which is utterly ridiculous. Just shows you have to be careful when you read commentaries and study Bible notes ABOUT the Bible. Sometimes I think I should take all mine and toss them. Btw, I was under Jack Hyles preaching in person from 1979 to 1987 and listened to him on tape or read his printed sermons for about 2 years before that. This was definitely not one of his better sermons.
Careful interpretation of the text was not really the style of Jack Hyles. I’ve heard very few sermons where he actually interprets a passage of scripture. His method was to read a verse and jump right into applying it however he saw fit. Anything too deep would be boring for his audience. He majored on entertaining in his preaching because that draws a crowd.

Scofield was a curse on baptist churches.. so called kjv only preachers mixed up in so much commentary nonsense
