Great review! Appreciate the clear, concise, thorough overview. I’ll be taking advantage of the sale price and canceling my monthly cloud subscription. Thank you!
I am a Mac user and my biggest problem with cloud services and even home cloud drives is that they are based on PC-formatted disk which does not sync Apple's file tags. It is a deal-breaker for me. Not sure if Amber X will retain Apple file tags if I plug an external OSX formatted disk to this Amber device?
Luke....can you configure amber to show as a shared network drive with a drive letter in the Windows file explorer? while hardwired to the router or wifi to router? Nice review....thanks
Thanks for the review. I have a bucket full of questions, will this work with an 8tb HDD and will it work with multiple HDDs through a powered USB hub? Does this automatically sync when your phone is in range or do you have to initiate the sync manually? Last one, if I delete content from my camera roll are they deleted from the drive?
i don't know if you still wait for your answers but to answer you yes 8TB work and multiple HDD works with powers USB hub and yes it will sync auto and even after you deleted your photos from the phone the photos still in the amber x drive. hope this help. but i still don't know if i want to keep it or return and get synology DS720+.
Sorry I missed your question, (been down and out sick last 10 days) Yes, it will work with external drives (8TB should be fine) Multiple drives through a powered hub will also work. IT will automatically sync your photos and videos once the app is setup. (doesn't have to be in range per se, just have an internet connection). If you delete local files off your phone, they are still saved in the Amber until you go in and delete them off there.
I already wonder if you can open this and replace the internal ssd… It would be nice if they had a POE version as an option :-) How much is the power supply rated for ?
Question? I'm looking into replace Onedrive. Can you view the photos in samsung gallery like Onedrive does or do I have to go through the app. Is it fast to view the photos or videos when your using your phone service. I just wanted to compared to OneDrive and I'm not sure if I want to change over. Thank
You do have to view from the app instead of samsung gallery (if you delete your copy from samsung gallery of course) I found the app to be fast and responsive on 4G/5G of Wifi... Hope that helps.

Great video explaining the device. However, can documents, spreadsheets, etc also be added to the device? thanks

Hi, this has all been very helpful. I do have 1 question though... Can I access the Amber X and all of my photos from a PC?

Will this take raw files in the Amber X cloud?
Can I use this to backup files from my laptop over the web?
yes
After all my photos is on my AmberX can I delete all my photos on my iPhone?
yes, since they will be backed up on the Amber X
hard drive password protected, encrypted?
Can I have 2 accounts, say mine and my wife's at the same time or do I need to log her phone on my account?
Can 2 people backup their phones to this device? Basically can my spouse do everything with this that I can?
yes you should be able to do that no problem, it's a great device in my opinion, I like having my data, instead of other companies having it.
