Actually, he answered her question and said the Vice Chair had sole responsibility under the law, implying he was NOT going to take responsibility for SVB’s failure, but she cut him off, didn’t let him finish and interjected with “So you take full responsibility?!” when he just said the opposite. That is when he got snippy and said “I didn’t say that!” which is good for him IMO since she knew he didn’t say that and was playing this legal game that any judge in a court of law would admonish her for.

    • @capoditutticapi3939

Are you stupid. Powell tried to dodge the question and said the vice chair is responsible for the supervision. Than Warren rightfully so asked him: so you take no responsibility? Which was in essence his reply to her previous question.

Congress created the FED and mandates that gov steal at least 2% from workers every year.
Recently Congress passed the 'Fiscal Responsibility Act' will allows gov to borrow unlimited amounts ($32T isn't to pay bills).

Most government spending actually transfers funds from poor to rich: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits, and public employee pensions are all designed to provide healthcare and income to people who are earning less income.

Warren lawyered this encounter and also misrepresented the situation. The Fed's examiners were not "asleep at the wheel." They recognized the problem, warned Silicon Valley Bank and Silicon Valley Bank did nothing. The primary fault here is with SVB. Yes, the examiners should've been more forceful, but they were watchful.
The unproductive encounter could've focused on the specific changes need to avoid bank failures in the future. Instead, Warren continued to grind the axe that she didn't support Powell and how right she was. In public life, if you have to work with someone you don't like, that's how it is. Work with them.
