I’ll add my two cents in reference to the mindless fun section: Five is a tough map. A lack of an instant-kill weapon, only two real reliable training spots, very weak SMGs until you get to the labs, doors are expensive all through the map. Hence another reason why it wasn’t so popular.
I honestly loved this map. Scared me shitless as a kid. The only other place you can train is on the third floor by the pig in the center of the room. An added benefit of that spot is you can jump through the windows if you get caught up and make a quick escape.
Yessir, boys, you can. Crouch jump through them after you break the glass. Makes for a good getaway. Any of the windows in the labs can be crouch jumped through provided the glass is broken. Have a good day!
God the scientist used to give nightmares as a child I genuinely have no idea why being chased by some human scared me more than the hordes of zombies he just unsettled me so much back then
I'm very torn about "FIVE". I love the idea of killing zombies as JFK or Fidel Castro, inside the Pentagon! On the other hand, the map is too tight, the Pentagon Thief had too much health, and the prices are too damn high. Also yes it's worse in co-op. Ironically one of my favorite maps is "Classified". Treyarch made it more open, more survivable. The only downside being no celebrity cast.
This map got me hooked from the start because of the starting room. Atmosphere is a large part of what makes a zombies make great imo. This map captured it perfectly
Five is a little tougher than Kino, but I also think that part of why it was less popular compared to now is remember when BO1 was released you couldn't just play the map. You had to either beat the campaign or unlock it through the terminal.
Made it this far into the series and I love how deep you go into the actual mechanics. Judging maps on whether or not they work instead of “ I KNOW WHAT THIS IS AND WE ALL LIKE IT SO 10/10”
Me and my friends experimented a lot with trying to make this map work and it eventually wound up being our best map. we almost always ran 3-man parties and figured out a foolproof setup involving one guy camping the pack-a-punch room with an LMG while someone mans the windows and the third guy runs the basic war room train. Four people? Didnt work, it was no fun for the fourth guy. Two people? Didn’t work, the camper would inevitably get overrun. But Five was built for 3.
this map means a lot to me. i remember being in 5-6th grade playing online over skype every weekend. i remember being a little kid screaming about getting the death machine for the first time. i remember not having any idea what we were doing. all with 5 other friends who i’ve lost contact with, but who i’ll always remember fondly. i’ve moved on in life and don’t play many games anymore, but those were the days of pure bliss i’ll forever cherish
Personally playing with friends/randoms wasn’t that hard if you just did a more classic camping strategy. Me and randoms/friends would use the PaP room and kinda use it like a worse catwalk
The only way to survive this map is to do glitches because with 4 players more zombies actually spawn. The freeze ray also slows down the pentagon thief.
"We're talking about the zombies maps- in good faith -as a retrospective." "And why is *Five* here?! It sucked!" "As I always say, forgive weird maps, but remember their cutscenes."
Woah I played so much Bo1 zombies back in the day and I am just now learning about the “Bonfire Sale”! Great videos man, you’re a true model of how to do good gaming video essays
Five was a great way to get a fresh feel from the story of the main maps, was a solid map aswell, decent challenge well made map underrated map definitely
Another factor is just how tough five was. I hated how most lobbies died before even getting to the bottom floor, and I struggled to get there myself too
Look I’m just gonna come out and say it. I was scared asf my first time playing “Five” as I was only around 8-10 when I first finished BO1. I loved the zombies gamemode but was terrified to play on my own. So when I completed the final mission and the game immediately put me into the game I almost shit myself when I heard the iconic zombie theme start. TLDR: I got scared of the game putting me into “Five” after completing the final mission
Easy map, the Defcon room can hold with 4 people, if not, then you escape via the teleporter. The Pentagon thief is easy, switch to your worst weapon when he gets close and destroy him with the good weapon you have left. If solo, If not then train him at the catwalk so others can shoot him.
Funny enough Five was my first introduction to Zombies. I witnessed it first when my step-dad finished the campaign, then got to it myself once I did the same. I was also much more scared of Kino as a kid, so I would select Five to work on my fear before chickening out on round 5 or below. It wasn't until BO2 that I started to get into zombies, but if it wasn't for Five my interest in the mode would have been delayed a lot longer. I probably spent less than an hour in total on that map, but it was the spark that would lead me to loving the series and storyline as a whole
Five has kind of become a running gag between my friends. We don't really like playing BO1 that much because of how bad the ammo capacity and damage falloff of normal weapons, but when we do play BO1, it's always Five. We just love the utter chaos of the map
i appreciate your points but i do not think that's it at all. training in the war room is "easy" until round 35. after that it's a death trap as your guns become useless. i've always thought of kino as the solo experience and five as the coop experience. maybe that's just me but i would always have fun camping at the elevator. maybe have one person training and the rest killing off stray zombies.
my brother and I played a ton of zombies and as we got better we played five more. it's a good step up from Kino and was super fun just camping on the first floor elevator in the 20s rounds. I love five for its challenge.
I remember my first game on this map. Other than not knowing the layout or anything remotely important, I knew that there were gonna be three nondescript objects that were gonna make sound upon holding square/X on. Finding that red phone on the starting floor and hearing the little buzz indication of an action being done was such a rush. Immediately told the people I was playing with (CoD friends I can’t remember) to look for red phones, and that there were two left. When Eminem started playing we all popped off. Five was a great entry if you wanted a zombies game with more tension and fear. Lots of deaths inside the labs. Love your videos, binge instead sleep, you’re awesome.
Maybe that whole quote of "Zombies is co-op and thus harder on Five" Explains why I liked Five more back in my short lived COD days. I had no friends, no xbox live for lobbies and DLC so always played this map over Keno. Plus always found the intro way funnier
Never made it past the war room in Five, it's such a hard map! Playing as caricatures of the historical story characters was the shit though, I always wanted to play as the president. Fond memories of screaming at or getting screamed at by my friends to get on the fucking elevator XD
Ive never really been into zombies but my friends always wanted me to play it with them. When i tried Five it was my favorite map. Ive never been good at zombies either, only ever got good at running away from them and keeping 1 zombie alive for my team lol
It’s my favorite map because it’s the first map I got to play with my best friend which I call a brother. It’s the most fun/hardest map for me. The Easter egg song is awesome because it activates when you open pack a punch which is even more fun because once you have your packed guns it’s fun to mow down all the zombies with your homie. Winters howl isn’t the best but it’s so fun same with the pentagon thief, great idea to add him in and even better when you kill him and get the pack-a-punch drop. Love the character as well my favorite being Namara. Just love it
Five was fire in my opinion granted I was like 12/13 so I would’ve been cool with almost anything at the time only annoying things for me was people would troll and block the elevator leading to everyone’s death and not many train areas
Me and my cousin always used to camp the first elevator as long as possible. Sure, you wont live long but those rounds will be a lot of fun once they get hectic
Five was just tough to play tbh. Only my friends who were really into zombies would play it. All the casuals would play kino. I miss playing this with my boy Mike, RIP bro.
My good friend had this game on ps3. He was NEVER into games honestly kinda sucked and he knew it. but he wasnt interested in games and still isn't today, but every time I went over he'd ask if I'd like to play a match with him of five. So I like to think this map is special because it made a friend that never touch any games want to play a quick match with me. I honestly think it's the only thing he used his ps3 for expect when I was over playing it lol
I think the reason that losing your weapon might be worse than going down is that it wasn't a forced restart, but still a huge setback. Somehow it feels more punishing to get set back thousands of points and tons of box hits to get whatever your preferred weapon was than it was to just restart because you were still in the same game and there was still the option of facing the difficult challenge of getting your setup back. You were left with two options: continue playing at a greatly increased difficulty than normal to get your setup back, or just restart like normal. In other words, the game was actually harder than just restarting, or you chose to down yourself / hit the restart button. Not a great choice to give players.
I’ll be honest one of my favourite memories of black ops zombies was me and 3 friends camping in the pack a punch room trying ti see how long we could survive in there XD honestly I feel like my friends and I played all the “worst maps” the most. In my opinion black ops zombies is the best zombies game to date; simple, still with a story and they brought back all the WaW maps so it was just this perfect game at the perfect time in my life when I could sit down for 8 hours a day and play because I was a kid and had no responsibilities other then school
One of the best maps for me. I enjoyed zombies for the challenge it offered. Therefore making “ five “ a favourite for me. The kino nostalgia has finally worn off after YEARSSS of playing. Its too easy, now boring. Five with 4 players is really really difficult

i wouldn’t cut the MP5k short. goat wall weapon
@@GetNinged lol
I love it for all the things u said.
@@GetNinged facts bro 🤣🤣

You can jump through the windows?!
Wait that's a thing?
Yessir, boys, you can. Crouch jump through them after you break the glass. Makes for a good getaway. Any of the windows in the labs can be crouch jumped through provided the glass is broken. Have a good day!
100% can, blew my mind when I first tried it usually that was only for campaign stuff. 😂
I suck at training there
I never forgot 5. I still remember the opening cutscene word for word. Gives me goosebumps when I think of it
Easiest way to kill the thief was to put claymores facing the elevator in the war room and if you stand in the back he’ll never take your gun
Five is a cult classic. I love playing it from time to time.
Black ops was my first zombie experience and five was my favorite map at first because Kino scared the shit out of me as a kid
Five will always have a special place in my heart as it was one of the first zombies maps I played with my dad
Five was amazing and the only people who hate it either didn't have friends to play it with or were just straight bad at zombies back then
God the scientist used to give nightmares as a child I genuinely have no idea why being chased by some human scared me more than the hordes of zombies he just unsettled me so much back then
I'm very torn about "FIVE".
And bo4’s horrible mechanics and gameplay
Classified didn’t have the best part of Five, the Pentagon Thief.
What made it worse in coop?
@@AshVsEvilFred still a better Zombies than Vanguard.
@@ChadKakashi yeah, but in Solo you'd get both your weapons stolen and you were screwed.
This map got me hooked from the start because of the starting room. Atmosphere is a large part of what makes a zombies make great imo. This map captured it perfectly
Also the pentagon thief is such a cool boss as well
wait, what? why is there no comments? why is there only 11 likes? why does this channel only have 104 subs? How? This video is incredible!

Wow your comparison with apocalypse now was spot on, that's literally exactly what I was thinking. Major kudos
You deserve way more attention and views
I can say with utmost certainty that nobody has forgotten about Five
The first thing always brought up with bo1 is always five, moon, or kino. Idk where forgotten came from
Me and my friends experimented a lot with trying to make this map work and it eventually wound up being our best map. we almost always ran 3-man parties and figured out a foolproof setup involving one guy camping the pack-a-punch room with an LMG while someone mans the windows and the third guy runs the basic war room train. Everyone knew you needed a solid game-plan to have a successful five run.

I love "five" whenever i think of old memories of playing zombies with my sister when i was young, a lot of the time we were playing this map.
Love how cinematic you made this 🤘🏾🔥
"We're talking about the zombies maps- in good faith -as a retrospective."
"And why is *Five* here?! It sucked!"
"As I always say, forgive weird maps, but remember their cutscenes."
Dude, 5 was literally the first ever zombies map i ever played. That deserves a medalla by itself.
Wow man you really make quality content. You will be successful.
I believe this is kind of an underrated map, it is also very difficult, it could be listed on a top 5 harder maps
Woah I played so much Bo1 zombies back in the day and I am just now learning about the “Bonfire Sale”! Great videos man, you’re a true model of how to do good gaming video essays
Digestible videos that don't waste anytime, talking about things that barely get mentioned. You have an eye for design, that much is for sure
I’ve played this map so many times and I never knew their was traps
"Need more beans for the chowder here"
Five is the first map, as far as I know, to include a non-hostile npc in zombies in the form the lab pig
I love five, I remember my first time seeing it when I was like 8 and it blew my mind, hands down one of my favorite maps in the series
An actual challenge that could be mastered with enough practice, one of the best maps of all time tbh
Five was a great way to get a fresh feel from the story of the main maps, was a solid map aswell, decent challenge well made map underrated map definitely
This channel is amazing. Great content

I think that was the first time I’ve ever seen someone use that trap in the second room.
Great vid, loving the series
So pleased your channel popped up in my recommended, criminally underrated with superb quality! Subbed! :D
I loved five, especially because of the addition of the elevator made it so awesome.

Forgotten? Kind of an overstatement in my opinion. I believe five aged better as time went on, we grew to appreciate it more similarly to Shangri la
I only clicked this video to comment, it's not. It's literally one of the most iconic maps ever.

Five has best intro movie next to mob of the dead... " What's he doing here? He lost!" LOL
Just watched Apocalypse Now for the 1st time in my adult life last night before seeing this video suggested to me today lol

I personally quite enjoyed Five as a kid. Even coming back to play it this year, I've found that I still enjoy the map.
The memorable thing of five are the character voice lines
The idea that even the DOD is vulnerable to the zombie menace and such is terrifying.
One would think that the one zombie map where you get to play as JFK, Castro, McNamara, and Tricky Dick would be the most memorable.
If anyone says they don't like 'Five' because it's too hard or whatever, i don't CARE, im saying it. SKILL ISSUE MATE.
This reminded me of Arcade zombies, that was an easy one to enjoy with friends.

i was always confused on the flow of Five, especially compared to Kino, but I always loved playing it just for the cutscene alone.
Five was fire in my opinion granted I was like 12/13 so I would’ve been cool with almost anything at the time only annoying things for me was people would troll and block the elevator leading to everyone’s death and not many train areas
Five was fun and the glitch to let you stand on tables and get out of the map made it more fun!
7:18 that was a good transition
I’ll always remember Running and gunning thru the lab with the awful Lawton, getting to round 30 was more satisfying then finishing a marathon lol
I play this Everytime I’m on black ops 1 it’s not forgotten and is still fun
I wish I could go back to my first five zombies match
Was a great map to practice on. Loved it
Five was never forgotten
Watched 3 vids, all of thrm were very informative and put together very well. Sub
Damn, this channel is blowing up. 800 subs just the other day. 2.3K now. GGs bois
Why is HE here?
He LOST!
Me and my cousin always used to camp the first elevator as long as possible. Sure, you wont live long but those rounds will be a lot of fun once they get hectic
Nobody forgets the pain
This map needs to return or be remade to fit in with the stories it was amazing, fun, challenging and jumpy it must return
Nice review! Mule Kick was introduced here for the first time too, right?
Five was just tough to play tbh. Only my friends who were really into zombies would play it. All the casuals would play kino. I miss playing this with my boy Mike, RIP bro.
How was this map forgotten, you get to play as President John F. Kennedy one of the GOATS.
It’s so underrated to
It was so good once you got the hang of it my friends never even bothered trying to see the beauty in this map
This map was a classic
Big ups on the content

Five had the Eminem hidden song though, & that was always awesome when the death con doors open and he's rapping and your blasting
five best map. Hectic gameplay with a challenge very unique boss with a very excellent reward. Super cool location and using the elevators.
