Just always try to stay positive man, you generally do from what I’ve seen. Always ride with people who are better then you, it’ll push you to learn and gain endurance/skill although it may be exhausting and really challenging at times. Took me a few years but things really started clicking. Always try to carry as much momentum as you can through the gnarly stuff. Keep thinking constantly about your body positioning and try to stand as much as you can. Except for when it’s obvious to sit down and rest or is the better position for the obstacle. Practice log hops and other things your not comfortable with and stair step your way up in difficulty when you come across good spots to mess around. Being fresh helps and not towards the end of a ride to practice things. All in all your doing really good Marvis, keep it up we love the content!
I'm a novice even when riding by myself... 😄I looked exactly the same last Friday when I struggled on my first steep hill climb. I capitulated after I fell the 5th time
our riding group is pretty much beginners to hardouts watching people do stuff so easy and then failing sucks hahaha.i try to get up front as much as possible so i get to use the most traction before its all ground up and loose you can see in this video they struggled more on the trail that had multiple runs up it even the good guys struggled to get out the top .theres video of me on here grabbing my ktm by the seat and handlebars and throwing it down a cliff in discust of the trail for the day lol
I think the fact that you're openly honest with yourself and others about your current riding abilities is a large part of your appeal. You work hard, have fun, and treat others with kindness and that draws people. Thanks for making videos.
These are the type of videos you do best, and why I started following you a few years ago They do put a grin on my face as I also ride with people who are better than me and have been in many of your situations 👍
You’ve gotten so damn good at enduro some of those hills are nuts props to you I hate getting caught on little logs and sticks it really takes it out of you but you’re doing great 👍🏻
Im with you, at 60yrs I let the better/younger guys do the tough stuff and know my limits. it is fun to attempt a challenge but bike/rider need to get home in one piece or its all picture, No sound for a few days. Cheers, Dave
Love these comments. Makes my day when I hear people still riding later on in life. We should never give up unless we absolutely have to. Ride on brother
Your doing amazing mate! And big up to them for tryng to teach you..try and just go for it.. don't think 2 much. I've ridden no more than 6 times and I just go for it lad
Ive been subscribed for a few months now, and i see the same thing in each of your videos. your not staying on the pegs. when it gets tough, you try to tractor the bike along with your butt on the seat. watch your friends, they always have at least one foot on the pegs even in the hard stuff. on the tough up hills, get on the pegs, this puts your weight on the frame which puts the rear tire in the dirt and gives you traction. remember your rear will spinning all the way up the hill ? your friends went right up that hill because they were on the pegs. another secret, if the high ground is on the left, put most of your weight on the right to force the bike into the hill, same if the high ground is on the right side, put most of your weight on the left side. these simple things will help you improve each time you ride and greatly decrease your frustration. happy riding.
Jokes aside. I suffer from this sometime. We learn alot riding with experienced drivers, but most of the times we are pushing our limits, and its here we can injure ourselfs. If they wait for us, its good, otherwise is bad for both parts... They are always waiting and we are always struggling to keep up. 🤟 It is what it is. No one born a pro. Lets try to improve in every ride as much we can.
First group ride I've been on in decades happened a few weeks back. I was by FAR the slowest guy there, and was advised to sit a few loops out, which I did. Even then, what we rode was more challenging for me than what I would have done solo. Definitely an eye opening experience.
Hahah, Just the utter deflated attitude has me rolling, "Whyyyy?! Just whyyy?!" I definitely feel your pain of riding with people better, there's times I've ended up in a field laying in a maze of grass whilst the sheep amongst me are laughing..😂
This is exactly how I feel when my buddies ride up some steep rocky trail. Sometimes I’m like no way I can do that. But I carry on and do get a bit better. Thanks for the videos.
I can totally relate. 54 yo been riding bikes since 10 but haven't rode dirt since I was a teenager. My ADV biking turned I to a lust for more and this year bought a new KTM 350 EXC-F. First time out on trails and I answered a friend's invitation. Very very technical single track in the mountains. Definitely felt like I jumped into the deep end of the pool and over my head. But I persevered. Definitely relate to the struggle.
I feel like we ride at a similar level and as fun as this ride would have been, i felt bad for you haha nothing worse or better than mates egging you on to be better haha love these videos mate!
I did the Yamaha Off Road Experience in Wales and the main thing that spoiled it was that I went on my own, and everyone else had at least a little experience. I had zero experience and trying to keep up was exhausting. Ultimately I had a pretty bad fall and hurt my legs to the point I wasn't able to stand on the pegs for the rest of the day. I'd definitely want to be with other novices if I ever tried this again. It was incredible, but totally spoilt by this exact issue.
I feel your pain and more….😂…nursing a sprained ankle from my last time out with the group…I’m definitely the weakest link…I hate feeling like I hold the others back…
Ok i know this is probably a stupid question but, i would like to get into riding my heart is asking me to buy a husky FE 250 but my brain is telling me to buy a YZ125x, my dad wants me to get a 4 stroke i can road redo in the future (i won't say my exact age but i'm old enough to have my job) so i feel like my question is who or what do i listen to (I'm about 6'1 at 60 kilo's and have prior experience on a 2 stroke 50cc, and mountain bike if you can even call that experience) any advice is greatly appreciated!
gotta love it when they stop and wait for you... but then take off immediately as you're starving for oxygen ;) great video.. lot's of laughs because most of us have been there and can totally relate
your riding looks like it would benefit from a trails bike it will help sooooo much for dragging rear brake and staying on pegs plus its a new branch of content would love to see your progression on another style of riding man did amazing I thought though!
try lower gear might help you go in 1st gear instead of 2nd cuz i think ur in 2 high gear most of the time, btw try putting more gas atleast from videos. im novice but that helped me2 sorry if im wrong tho
That terrain looks tricky! Novice vs Expert will certainly be me and Jonny when we get dirt bikes 😅…. Wait is there anything lower than a novice?… I’ll be that (Sam)
The reason why it doesn’t always go right for you, is because you like to entertain us. It just wouldn’t be entertaining watching you do everything well. We need to see someone else, crash n burn occasionally. Sorry
*Who else here can relate to being the novice of your riding group?*
I am the novice and expert! In other words, I’m alone😅

The pain of going up and down loose rocks
I always get so excited whenever you post a new video, your videos are absolutely fire. Don’t stop what you’re doing🔥🔥
I appreciate it man. Thanks for the support.

@@MidWestMX Nothing wrong with letting Marvis out once in a while! Keep the knobbys in the dirt/bogg. Love your commentary.
I really like your videos i wish i was there. keep doing what your doing and you will be like them.

That 5 seconds is just magical. Truer words have rarely been spoken

I think you were holding your own just great man! Well done!
Get yourself a trials bike . I promise you it will help out your enduro riding loads! Good fun too 🤙🏻
BRO I REALLY WANNA SEE YOU BE THE ABSOLUTE PRO.....ON THISS really do..!! NICE VIDEO BTW
you're a better rider than you give yourself credit. that hillside tree nursery was scary but you was up and down it all day.
I love for how most of the vid you’re basically riding through a giant Pungi Pit 😂

Keep at it bud, the only way to get better or ride harder routes is to have ago, and that’s what you did mate. appreciate your efforts dude 👍🏼
If you don't try you will never learn tho, go man goooo! thx for the video

Looks like you were trying to use the bike as a chainsaw at 12:54! Love it! 😄
It's a shame videos don't do justice to the steep hills/inclines. Good on you for trying to keep up and not giving up mate
You guys definitely need to go to Bilstain Enduro in Belgium. Its REALLY fun.

Great riding & commentary! I would be worried about wrecking and getting impaled in those woods...alot of sharp limbs and stumps out there.
I hate to admit it but it seems like I'm the novice having broken my wrist, arm and foot all in the last year 😅
I always wonder how they make it look so easy.
I made some miles in Wales 2 weeks ago! I love it.
that's some really hard enduro that your doing it's grate to try new stuff.👍
Where exactly is this? I’m American living in Italy and would love to ride these trails!
As someone who just starting riding off-road about a month ago, I feel this….
idea for a mid west MX t-shirt... "thats looks steep"
those trails look fun !!
do you connect a mic inside your helmet or is it all just the gopro sound from footage?
I feel your pain and more….😂…nursing a sprained ankle from my last time out with the group…I’m definitely the weakest link…I hate feeling like I hold the others back…
At 9:54 it looked like ur radiator was leaking a bit.
its time for me to go home XD rly funny
What microphone do you use?
Love the vids!!!!!

What you riding on?
You need a four stroke feel like it would be better for the low end torque
gotta love it when they stop and wait for you... but then take off immediately as you're starving for oxygen ;) great video.. lot's of laughs because most of us have been there and can totally relate
Looks like your up my way northwales
As they sit at the top of the hills waiting on you, they are saying what is that fool doing now.
is your rebound/compression too stiff?
Your a legend 🙌
your riding looks like it would benefit from a trails bike it will help sooooo much for dragging rear brake and staying on pegs plus its a new branch of content would love to see your progression on another style of riding man did amazing I thought though!
When riding with guys that are better than you, remember to switch to "Marvis Mode"! A different attitude, a different result! Cheers
Best advice I've heard.
@@MidWestMX Cheers brother! I'll see you and Marvis in the next video. Love the content, have a great day!

try lower gear might help you go in 1st gear instead of 2nd cuz i think ur in 2 high gear most of the time, btw try putting more gas atleast from videos. im novice but that helped me2 sorry if im wrong tho
All Midwest has to do is use more than 1/4 throttle and he’d be flying up everything 😂
That terrain looks tricky! Novice vs Expert will certainly be me and Jonny when we get dirt bikes 😅…. Wait is there anything lower than a novice?… I’ll be that (Sam)
Don't stress about ability. Being a worse rider is way more fun :)
Lmfao this is funny as hell to me because I suck too 🤣🤣
I feel your pain brother 😅
I like to work doing anything with people who are better than me as you always learn.Enjoyed the video and the moaning!!!
Don’t wanna sound mean, but I’ve been watching your vids for a few years now and haven’t seen much progression, why’s that?
What doesn’t kill you, only makes you…stronger.
Commitment and also momentum go a long way. Pun intended.
You need to go faster through the trails so when ever you go over anything you don’t immediately stop
I know how you felt. You think you are so good and then you have to accept some are a tiny bit better.
Some days ago I had the same experience.
or a lot better,i race my instuctor on tight single track laps, there is a world of difference and im above medium level and humbled by his skill
I wish i had a group to ride with 😂😂
Have you tried a lighter bike?
Nice one👍
That's why I'm riding alone...
“Chicken route” aka the beta bypass.
Hello?
Mate you need more grunt
Top 5 ❤❤❤
i think you need a trials bike to get better much easier and safer!
Im the second commenter! Life's great!
I will Lake a ktm300 exc
I have a friend that is a mountain goat on his bike...):
Just revv it goddamnit
Your clutchplates have to be destroyed 😂
If u don't try u won't get better
Don't waddle twist it and rip it
Its just real 😂👌
Love your content so freaking much but please for the love of all things holy get a new camera
What’s the problem?
The reason why it doesn’t always go right for you, is because you like to entertain us. It just wouldn’t be entertaining watching you do everything well. We need to see someone else, crash n burn occasionally. Sorry
I totally agree. If i was a really good rider I think even I would get bored. Crashing, failing and learning is the fun part
