I recently moved to LA and got my foot in the door by getting a job at a major studio, I would have never taken the steps or had the mindset I had that helped me take the first steps in acheiving my goals if it wasnt for Kenny.
@VIG I started treating life like an RPG videogame, if this makes sense.. i asked everyone around if they had heard of any music related work they knew of that i could apply to (so basically looking for music related side quests) and because i asked, a friend told me of a friend of theirs who was looking for people so we met and he could see i was passionate about music and i applied and got the gig :)
He is like a father that puts his hand over your shoulder, looks you in the eyes and tells you the realest shit ever! Props Kenny! Appreciate the words!
I work on music and art because it allows me a sense of love. Growth happens, I get better; but I’m not doing it to be better, I’m doing it because I deserve to feel Love. Creativity is the quickest way to feel good. The more I create the more I feel good. And I’m not trying to be like anyone else anymore, I’m just trying to be my most present self - I’m trying to be as honest with myself as possible. Whatever I create is an indication of who I was in that moment, but now I’m a newer version of myself and I try to carry that presence into my creativity. Hope that makes sense and helps some of y’all out!
It’s true on a certain level, but that type of competitiveness that jazz musicians are taught also has a side to it that is toxic bull&hht as well. Your story is yours & you don’t need to practice a million hours a day to deserve to tell it.
Yesss i relate to this so hard. Was making beats with my friends thinking i was the shit and then i started studying sound engineering and music production. I can't even count the number of times i've been inspired by someone that's pushing their own talent to it's limits. I do also think that if you're making music cause you just have to get those songs and ideas out of your head and into the world then you're probably already on the right path. Worrying about if you work as hard as others isn't worth it. Be inspired to change up the pace sometimes or just enjoy the fact that you still have room to grow!
Yea he’s really good it’s crazy I knew ab him for a year or 2 and when his new album came out I was bumping it for months and it blew my mind later on when I found out he produces his own beats too
bro I stopped making music bc my laptop broke. and then I started again, and see this video. Kenny just kicked my ass back to the Stu 💪he said don’t come out either 🙏😂
im an introvert and been making music with my brother and our friends, and slowly each one stopped, but i wanted to become an audio engineer, and produce adn have music released on the side, maybe build all of that up, but my parents are muslim and my dad doesnt want me to work only, and even if music was doing good he would tell me to chose another career, so now im using one of my friends who has a really good shot, cause he's been making music for 10 years, ive been doing it for 7, and we both have the same kind of skill and way to making music, he's making moves as an artists and im producing, mixing, releasing all of his stuff making sure its polished and sounds good, for now he pays in weed but we got a deal going on, since we both struggling together
This is such an amazing perspective and great point. Then on the other hand there people like Prince who was a virtuoso on multiple instruments at 20. Played guitar better than most guitar players who practiced and played for 50 years. Same with piano, bass, drums etc... Some people are just naturally blessed and music phenoms so don't let them discourage you. I knew a couple growing up. I played for double the amount as them and I actually practiced more and still they were just naturally better
But i feel like I'm retarded... I won't even be anything in a couple years, even if I tried. I just know how it feels, when you put everything you can towards one thing and it doesn't work out. I also feel like (after my 1000th session on FL) that my shit just suck as hell. It sucks like a Delta P. Its just Goofy
the whole competition angle is old though . theres always someone bigger, strong, better in the world. just focus on your own shit, dont compare some imaginary person thats grinding themselves to exhaustion because kenny told you to. the real lesson here is just having discipline to practice. all the other shit is garbage.
I feel like comparison steers you away from seeing that the music journey is your own music journey. I know this is said to try to be motivational but, gaining motivation from comparing yourself to others is unhealthy.
I just know I was meant to make music..I didn't realize until I died from Covid and after waking up knowing that half of my heart is dead and now can't ho back to work with a pacemaker and defibrillator it's sad but it just really woke me up knowing I might not be here tomorrow and how much I looooove Music hell it practically raised me from Hank Williams Sr. To Michael Jackson Beat It to Lynrd Skynrd Phil Collins to Slick Rick Eazy E Bone there isn't too many Genre's I don't know and Songs. Im a walkin jukebox..lol💯❤️🩹❤️🔥❤️🔥
Why do we have compare ourselves to one another? Everyone is different and has their own stuff to bring to the table. Why do we need to have someone who supposedly better than us to push us to be better? I think that’s an attitude that will put you in a world of self doubt and frustration. I think us as musicians need to work together and stop trying to out do the next guy. Some would argue that being competitive with each other has evolved music over time but I think different times call for different approaches. Maybe it’s time we stop playing the games the industry wants us to and actually change the way interact with each other. The dog eat dog mentality can only serve us for so long and I think it’s time to mix it up.
maybe being around people better than me would give me motivation again ive lost touch with music heavy and i always feel like the best in the room where i am locally so maybe it's not pushing me at all
What you have is called a fixed mindset. All he's saying is work harder to reach the best level you can reach, whatever that may be. The most successful people will tell you hard work beats talent every day of the week.

Same I wanna say KennyBeats and Alex Tumay helped me get a studio internship
I just moved to Echo Park. Kenny inspired me to come out here too!
i need help getting my foot in the door

Is it doing anything for you?
He is like a father that puts his hand over your shoulder, looks you in the eyes and tells you the realest shit ever! Props Kenny! Appreciate the words!

Good rec. 📝📈💯
He's spitting facts I can relate 😭😭
It’s not that you need jealousy and pain to motivate you. It’s that you need inspiration and guidance
Production has taken a huge backseat in my life lately with school and live performances being much more important… definitely need to produce more
if its worth the little freetime u have; you’ll do it! go crazy king
This is me man. Needed to hear this, also hope you keep on the grind man!
It’s true on a certain level, but that type of competitiveness that jazz musicians are taught also has a side to it that is toxic bull&hht as well. Your story is yours & you don’t need to practice a million hours a day to deserve to tell it.
Exactly like this type of thinking is low key toxic if you take it too seriously

2023 Go hard!!!!! 🏆🥇🐐
Success is personal be real with what you want and go after it. Don’t let other perceptions take control of that.
My biggest spark recently was finding Redveil thru his Denzel collab. Kids like 18 and just ripping. Inspiring for real
Yea he’s really good it’s crazy I knew ab him for a year or 2 and when his new album came out I was bumping it for months and it blew my mind later on when I found out he produces his own beats too

Nah never too late. No better day to start than today
th-cam.com/video/bj6KLuedgdc/w-d-xo.html
80 is definitely too late
@@shootwithblu lol yeah maybe you got a point..
Id say past 30-35 is when you should give up trying to make it as an artist cause you gotta connect with the kids
I think I gave up this week
I'm grinding on my beats. I'd love a platform to plu in. A comunity. Any idea? I'm new to this internet comunity
maybe being around people better than me would give me motivation again ive lost touch with music heavy and i always feel like the best in the room where i am locally so maybe it's not pushing me at all
Not everyone has got talent. Stop giving false hope. Most of you will fail but along the way you might just find what you are really good at.
LMAO everyone has talent in some capacity. it’s not giving false hope.
Where’s the false hope
some people just have the vision and need someone who is technical that can put things into reality. not every producer know HOW to make beats
What you have is called a fixed mindset. All he's saying is work harder to reach the best level you can reach, whatever that may be. The most successful people will tell you hard work beats talent every day of the week.
„talent” doesnt exist
