    I love how the video just shows simplicity into making the fruit leathers, and the instructions and the tips and explanations were pretty clear. You make the process look so easy. I will be trying this out sometime soon and I hope that it will be just as successful as it is in the video

    Thank you for the recipe, your video came up when I looked up fruit rolls and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos. I bought a dehydrator a few weeks ago and I'm so excited as I've been saving for it and a foodsaver machine for two years. By the way you have the cutest taste testers ever.

    my grandma has a plum tree and we raided it last night (still barely put a dent in it) and i’ve got sooooo many plums to use up. luckily we have a dehydrator and i might even experiment with some other things to make with them. thank you!!

    A dehydrator found it's way into my kitchen after blanching a bunch of loquats a few days ago. Your video was the first one I clicked on and I'm excited to give it a go. Gonna hafta use parchment paper and oil since I don't have those clever inserts. If these come out good I might invest. Thanks again for the nice video!

    Thank you for putting an option in the recipe for using no sweetener. I am diabetic, so I have to watch my sugar intake, but snacks like this are needed for those times when my sugar is low, but I'm not in a complete crash, and I want to avoid the rebound where my sugar spikes real high too.

    thanks for the video... I bought a similar dehydrator with 5 racks (only one fruit roll tray thing) but got it at goodwill for $4.00 seems to work good... I am going to take my thermal camera and make sure it is matching the temperature on the temperature control knob. I had heard of jerky and stuff but not the fruit roll things they sound good... Im gonna get some more of the tray things so I can make more than 1.

    I see I am not using enough oil on my trays. Still learning...
    Once I forgot the oil completely. Hard lesson. But saved it by reconstituting and re-dehydrating.
    Great tip on the "Charlie Brown" peaches. Not real marketable, but perfect for Fruit-Roll-ups.

    Thanks for sharing. Are you using a spray on the plastic tray beforehand or just lining it with regular vegetable oil? I'm having serious problems with the fruit leather sticking once its done. Also, would you say you left it in there for 12+ hours @ 135 degrees?

    • @frugalgreengirl

    "Scientists are now telling us zucchinis and pumpkins cucumbers are fruits now"... No.. they were ALWAYS fruits lol, thats not a new fangled fad they just came up with. The difference is, a fruit is a seed bearing structure a plant grows for reproduction. A vegetable, you're eating parts of the plant itself, its leaves, its roots, and stems.

    please use a solar dehydrator! this is not an eco solution! dehydrating oyu will allways do towards the end of the summer where you have sun!

    • @frugalgreengirl
      @frugalgreengirl  10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So I have a question for you. What about times like last week when we had a solid week of overcast and rainy days forcasted and yet produce to preserve? The freezer draws power the entire time the food is in there until it is used. Canning takes more electricity then the dehydrator and the dehydrated food has better nutritional content. Is it better to just let the food go bad then but store bought stuff instead?

    • @FidelKastrat
      @FidelKastrat 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      frugalgreengirl Hi frugalgirl. This was not meant offensive - so forgive me. It’s just : I am a engaged in solar cooking and solar drying also belongs to those simple solar technologies. It was just meant in a way like: haven’t you thought about using a solar dehydrator in the future? Yes, ok it maybe it sounded offensive but was not meant this way. Solar dehydrators are a perfect solution in a way because you will use them only in summer - when there is sunshine ^^ but of course you can have bad days or weeks even in a northern summer, so I would suggest a hybrid system would be the best. Forgive me lady - I like your videos, they are very good and inspiring and you are an interesting and very special person. I was especially inspired very much by your greenhouse video. Maybe I will tell you about it.

    I wish expert organic consumers would care enough to educate themselves on clean safe food before grabbing the banner of ignorance and continuing the stream of wrong information and emotion driven ferver down the road. It's just more simple and easy to be ignorant. Look up what the botanical definition of a fruit is.....sheeeeesh!
