Remember being there watching it live as it was my local track. End of season races were always very competitive then as the GP season was over. Bazza was still fast on his works bike then after riding a privateer TZ500 the season before in Akai colours. Heron Suzuki had a good team with Mamola and Crosby and it proved to be a good scrap with the works Yamaha team. Big KR/Yamaha fan at the time and if Sheene had not had his accident at Silverstone the following year maybe he would have had a chance of the title again on the new V-four OW60 . Great days when rider ability and not the best bike was the key.
