Same thing with Osimhen, his greed will make his value drop and his salary likely drop in the future. There's no telling how long the Saudi project still gonna go nor if any other club would be fine to meet his wage demands. He would drop his own value being second choice in Napoli or maybe not even in first squad.

If a Saudi club doesn't come in to buy Osimhen within the next two days, I think he will play for Napoli once the club and player get over themselves. It is of mutual benefit to them and then Napoli will have two strikers to choose from. Napoli will regret not accepting PSG's July offer of 60-70m, which is what they were asking for towards the end of the window.

I think he assumed that top clubs all over Europe would come fighting for him, which I don’t blame him, but clubs like PSG & Chelsea have realised there is no guarantees in paying players big wages that you’ll win silver like the UCL or the EPL. PSG tried with Neymar Mbappe, Messi and Chelsea with Sterling and Lukaku and they lost big time

He got too if for his boots and now will fade into obscurity on the reserves at Napoli or the Saudi League.
Chelsea should definitely start enquiring about a Victor Gyokores in the January market, and try sorting that deal for next season 🤷‍♂️

The Lukaku you are talking about signed for Chelsea at a young age with small wage and still could not succeed at Chelsea but was successful elsewhere. 0:44 Raheem Sterling to Arsenal - Straight loan, no buy option, Arsenal only paying less than 50% of his wages
1:30 Jadon Sancho to Chelsea - Loan with obligation to buy, up to 25m pounds package. The obligation will be triggered only if Chelsea finish in the top 14 positions in the league, so most likely no problem.
3:27 Victor Osimhen staying put, Napoli tried to change the conditions of the deal with Al Ahli at last minute to make them pay more, Osimhen couldn't agree salary with Chelsea - Only way now for Napoli to sell him is if a non-European club bids for him, very TENSE situation now.

Both Napoli and Victor are responsible for this. Why would Napoli be changing the terms of the agreement with the Saudi Club after the initial agreement? Victor knew that he was no longer wanted at Napolu, probably due to his high wages. Why could he NOT swallow his pride take a salary cut, and join Chelsea? If he does well in his first season, his worth and value will rise, and he will have an increase in salary, just like Palmer. Now, both Napoli and Victor are the losers; Napoli will have to pay him high wages while he does nothing, and Victor will just sit at home and waste his talent and values. This is a total CHAOS.

As a pay back to what Napoli did Osimhen refused to accept Chelsea's deal since what they were offering wasn't even up to what he earns currently. I think this was stupid for Chelsea to be so cheap, they weren't willing to offer £250K/week?
They should've spend the first two days getting rid of James (£250K/week), Chilwell (£200K/week), Cucurella (£175K/week), Mykhailo Mudryk (£100K/week), Badiashile (£90K/week), Disasi (£80K/week), and Marcus Bettinelli (£35K/week), which clears £1.03M/week in salaries. Seeing as the third goalkeeper never sees the pitch, Lucas Bergström could easily be behind Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez, allowing them to save more than £1.8M this season on a goalkeeper who won't play.
Had they given Osimhen a real offer like £250K/week, plus add-ons that are reasonably attainable. It would've represented the same or slightly more money in guarantee, as compared to what he'll make from Napoli this year, but he'd also have the chance to make more in incentives. The chance to play with Enzo at the 8, Caicedo at the 6, Palmer at the 10, alongside Neto and Sancho at the 7, while Madueke and Nkunku are at the 11, not to mention the other alternates such as Guiu, Felix, and Jackson, would've given Osimhen far more quality around him, and not forced him to play all 90 minutes every match, keeping him in better form and maximizing his time on the pitch.

They thought all the top clubs would be getting their wallets out fighting to sign him, but that’s simply never going to be the case with FFP being enforced as it is in today’s market. Napoli played him, and he’s genuinely played himself into a corner by acting as if ONE elite season entitles you to superstar money. He’s great and can (could) definitely be a superstar if he keeps playing in Europe into his prime, but he’s made it difficult now. If you start at the ceiling, there’s no where else to go, and Chelsea’s new wage strategy is built on incentives for the players to perform. But Osimhen’s camp wanted the A grade without writing the exam. Wanted the offer without doing the interview. That’s not how the job market works.

Napoli Management also very stupid to Change there agreement with Ahl Ahli. Are fans jealous? Why shouldn't Osihmen look out for his interests and get the best interests of his family in Nigeria? Why should he take a contract with Chelsea offering £4 million a year before tax when he had an offer for £40m with tax from Saudia Arabia. Napoli bought Osihmen from Lille for less than £30 million. They tried to fiddle the books and claimed he was a £70 million buy. Napoli now wanted to sell Osihmen for £130million in a depressed market and only reduced their fee when there was no offer; Napoli intentionally sabotaged the Al Alhi deal for a Chelsea loan to get a larger fee next year.

Football is not an “at will” situation where you can just up and leave the club. I commend Osimhen for rejecting that ridiculous offer from Chelsea.
Napoli have frustrated every effort in regards allowing him move on from their horrible club. As Fabrizio mentioned Al-Ahli had a deal in place already and Napoli started changing the terms of the deal until the Saudis got fed up.

Osimhen sounds like one of those mercenary type players who is only interested in the payday FFP rules mean that players like him will price themselves out of the market. Napoli are now stuck with a player they don't want on 300k per week no club in europe will offer him anything close to wages like that with FFP rules. Also napoli might have done serious damage to to it's own reputation in the future with the stunt they pulled on the saudi team who want's to do business with a club that increases the price of a player after a transfer fee and a medical is agreed by all parties involved scummy move that.

    • @esaacjay

You are more concerned about the player's wage demands than Napoli's greed in changing their agreement with Al Ahli. Al Ahli had agreed with Victor on his salary. Nothing wrong done by those two parties. If Napoli desperately needed to offload him, like Chelsea did with Sterling, they should have cut their losses and allowed him to go to the Saudi club.

When reduced to the domestic level, this Osimhen/ Napoli saga perfectly mirrors a broken marriage. Partners who intensely dislike each other but refuse to leave the union. They suffer immensely in the marriage while intensely longing for freedom outside it.
Suits them: a wayward club met a wayward player.
