Fabulous tutorial! I'm overwhelmingly impressed with the Blackstar ID, having returned a truly horrendously flawed Marshall Code which at best sounded like a 1970's transistor radio that had been dropped in the bath.
The only person explaining Blackstar…whilst Blackstar is nooooowhere to be found. Aside from nice chaps on customer service emails. THANK YOU. Pleeeeease save the planet by continuing this content. I did find one strange thing, as I’m using a stereo 100 from 2018/19, after installing Architect, I don’t have Cab Lite, and therefore can’t boost the signal, no fader on mine. That’s curious. I wonder if I can’t get cab lite without V3. So the signal in logic is rather low. Possibly workable though. Can’t seem to find another way to boost it. Cheers.

Hi Andy, nice video, but I think you may not be recording the "dry" signal you think you are. At least on my Blackstar ID Core V2, the USB interface sends a mono Preamp output (including Voice and EQ, but without effects or speaker emulation) to Channel 3, and the totally unprocessed mono guitar signal to Channel 4. My guess is the V3 amps are the same. Thus when you want a dry signal for reamping or for amp simulation in a DAW, you should only record a mono track of Ch 4 from the Blackstar. In your video IIRC, you recording track 3+4 as a stereo track which will likely lead to confusion, as these are really two mono tracks taken after/before the preamp.... (in your video, if you were using a 'clean' voice and flat EQ, then Ch3 and Ch4 may sound quite similar, but certainly not the identical, and definitely not the same using a voice with more gain/breakup). When I record guitar with my Blackstar, I record Ch 1+2 in stereo to get the cool effects/stereo output of the amp, and then usually just Ch4 as a clean mono track if I want to go back later and use Amplitude or some such. Tip: because the Blackstar does send a totally dry signal before preamp to Ch4, it works decently as a audio device to record bass guitar as well! (assuming using a DAW to then add EQ and bass amp simulation). I just keep the volume low when monitoring my recording so I do not damage the tiny little speakers. :)

Thank you so much for this comment. I was searching everywhere because I could not record a DI signal until I noticed that having Inputs 3+4 enabled showed one channel was louder than the other. That's when I read this comment and understood what you meant. I was beginning to think my amp was faulty at this point.
Hi Guys, i am unabe to find channel 3 and 4 in my ableton.. Only 1,2 and 1/2 1,2 are same so i don’t understand what's the difference they are making and 1/2 is the stereo one I am not able to find channel 4 i.e unprocessed one.. Can anybody guide me?
@@akhileshsharma623 After messing around for about 20 minutes i found out how to solve it ( reaper) make sure that your inputs has First on Amp 1 and last on amp 4. And then on the output range tab Do the same. What it was doing at first was ending on 2.

Reamp is an awesome option especially when looking for “that sound” you get as many chances as you want to really Shape the sound and keep your “ perfect performance “ from your first take. Wait what?

Andy/Any one facing a weird buzz sound every 10-15 secs when the amp is connected to the Mac via USB and using LOGIC/Garageband as the DAW. I just can't shake it off and I have tried two different kinds of usb cable and still facing the same issue. any help here will be much appreciated!!!
guys im trying to record this amp in fl studio. everything sets up and records fine. but when i listen to the recording, all it is is very distorted static pls help
So... What about with other DAWs? Like FL Studio 20 demo version? I'm trying to figure out how to even get it to record on there. I tried hooking it up and for some reason it has the amp pop up as an input but it said there was some kind of error. (I'm kind of a noob on this admittedly so can we put this in caveman terms please?) I would REALLY really appreciate the feedback. I just dont exactly have the money for anything super fancy right now. So if I need to just find some other software that's more cost efficient I can. This is all just WICKED confusing. .-.
@andyguitargeek First of all, I really appreciate this video! It has really helped me!! I have a Blackstar ID:Core Stereo 20. I think this was one of the earliest if not the earliest version. My architect doesn't have the slider which ups the output volume in my DAW like you use in the video. My Architect is fully updated. I notice that the the volume in my DAW doesn't change no matter how much I increase or decrease the volume in the app/on the amp. Is there a way to up the output volume like you do with the level fader without having that fader in architect? Does that make sense? Maybe I just need to upgrade to a newer amp... but there must be a way....
I have the same problem when I connect my amp to an iPad. I can’t adjust the volume in GarageBand for the iPad and I get a really weak signal. Did you ever find a solution?
Having a LOT of problems with this amp and logic. Had the 20 second buzz, switched the sample rate to 48Khz. That fixed the annoying buzz. Now I've got issues with the distorted channel breaking up while playing. It literally cuts out when playing. Really annoying.
Is there any possibility to setup DAW and ID:Core the way IDCore is reamping, while I still can hear other DAW track for sonic context? The only scenario I have found so far is reamping one specific track and then switching reamping mode off to listen what i have "reamped and recorded", at this moment finally can hear that with all other tracks... Will external soundcard with assigned outputs, (other than ID core bunch of 1-4) let ID:COre just do its reamping job and simultaneously listen other tracks from DAW thru the card? Do not know, how many different outputs Logic Pro can handle...
Hey Andy will this new interface software V3 work on the older Blackstar ID Core stereo series or do I have to stick with the old interface that came with the older one. This new V3 interface looks much much easier to use. Hopefully others might have asked the same question. Thanks Andy.
Hi, I have the older Blackstar ID Core V2, and I can confirm that the new software (Architect) works fine with my older amp. The only exception is you do not get all the cabinet simulation stuff, but everything else works. I _think_ it will also work with the V1, but I cannot confirm that first-hand. I believe Blackstar purposefully created Architect software to work with the older amps as well because the older software ("Insider") used Adobe Flash which is basically banned on MacOS and a hassle to setup on Windows 10.
can any one help me to connect this amp as an audio interface with FL STUDIO. it do get connected as primary .. but just dont work.so it say ' couldnt create the main streaming direct sound buffer.. this amp have nice sounds . i want to record them through the amp itself. please help .

This was really well explained and helpful. But for some reason my DAW is not letting me use the ID-CORE 3 and 4 channels

It is almost a full range speaker.. So I don't think so

If anything, it’s an interface you can run neural or bias fx through it. Not crazy about the tones on the idCore.

Idk why the software can’t detect my amp? Is it because of usb cables or missing drivers in my pc !
I really hope they understand that if you have a current gen Mac Book Pro, you have to use an interface to get a standard USB port.

Same.. I had to use a usb hub since my MacBook doesn't have a regular usb port

My Cab Rig doesn’t work as well as the level gauge! Is this because I don’t have a jack plugged into the cab rig socket? Tia
