The Mercedes SL600 V12 R230
The 3 generation V12 engine in the R230 SL what also it the first gen with a steel cabrio roof.
R230 gen is produced from 2002-2012 and had 2 facelift models in 2006 and 2008.
in 2008 there where also different engine but the M275 engine stayed the same.
This engine is connected to a 5 speed automatic 722.6 transmission.
Power figure's 500HP at 5000rpm ant from 1800-3600rpm 800nm.
M275 V12 engine is a re-engineered engine of the m137 . Cilinder capacity was lowered from 5.78 to 5517cc
to get thicker cilinderwall and a more rigid engine.
This was the first gen that that had a bi-turbo setup the boost pressure was around 13/14 psi or 1 bar

There was also a 65 AMG that had a little bigger bore and longer stroke in total 5980cc
power was 621hp an 1000nm of torque
The R230 had standard ABC suspension that was standard on al models this is hydraulic systems.
every strut has a level sensor. In total 13 sensor that will keep the car as level as possible with 2 drive modes
normal and ABC Sport that will harden up the suspension by a push of the button.
Between 60-160klm the car is lowered by 11mm for better handling and fuel economy
Total weight of the car is 1925KG
With the power delivery the car is capable of acceleration of 4.7sec.
Standard is the car on 18" wheels with 255 in the front and 285 in the back
In 2012 mercedes is putting AMG in charge of the development of the V12 engine's
AMG lost the 5.5 and keeps the 65 amg engine as a base so all 600 engine from of 2014
are 5980cc engine that are de-tuned to 530hp and 830nm for the normal models

A new wheel design and tire up sizing made a huge difference in appearance & performance on my 2005 sl600. I went with 19” Michelin Sport 4S.

Depends . Sl600 is more smooth and more powerfull. But a sl55 is more hotrod

ABC suspension can be a pain. But need to do maintenance like oil flush and ook change. To keep the system clean

JM i was looking back to compare it to your video with the naturally aspirated m120 r129 amg sl600 ,and the speeds times at 100.160,and 200 kph are very similar to the bi-turbo which is amazing when you think the sl600amg is from 1994 or something. you know i could not find your video of the sl70 amg is it gone?....... anyway from what i remember there was not such a big difference from the 600 to 700, nice video i bought a c215 recently and i think the ABC is lovely to drive with i like it a lot just hope it doesnt break to soon

the NA engine is just very powerfull there is also a 73 amg verion that had 525 hp and over 700nm that will be faster the the SL600 bi-turbo for sure
keep in mind with you ABC system to maintain it and change oil and filters and flush the system better do maintenance then repair it when it is broken

Motor is een leuke upgrade voor je 190 ;P
zeker weten. deze motor is kwa omvang better te plaatsen alleen heeft hij heel erg veel aanbouw delen die je niet kan missen . denk dat de turbo's en uitlaten wel een dingete worden om goed te plaatsen. ook zijn alle koelers en groot probleem omdat hij water to air intercoolers heeft dus ook dubbel ruimte en gewicht.
de motor zelf inbouwen is goed te doen maar alles er omheen netjes en goed te plaatsen is wel een brein breker

this seems wrong the V12 biturbo is alot faster that any V8 biturbo engines. funny thing is the V8 bitubo and V8 kommressa are all 500HP some 368 kW. seems wrong hear wrong
This not wrong power delivery is much more soft in a v12

i think at this point the engine is reliable for a very long time and emissions is also a thing .
second is if the torque is going up you need wider tyres to keep the traction . on a certain point this is just impossible with a RWD car. but 500hp could be a little more
The only thing that let's this car down is the gearbox
The Gearbox is perfect IT is the software controlling IT that is slow
@@JMSpeedshop so true ...with a tcu tune these boxes are just a joy. I had A and M modes added to my c32 as well as torque limiters removed and shift points changed ...changed the whole car feel ...
Sounds like engine failure. Original M120 sounds as a smooth as it should sound and not like all later engines ..
On camera the sound is always a little of then in real life but this car is fully healthy
