I'm glad you said it. I find those I started my business with 200 dollar videos misleading. Shipping from some of these suppliers are 200 alone lol.

I'm a writer, hoping to become an author. I thought customizing a scented candle associated with the book would be a great idea in generating $$ while building my brand as a writer. Different scents for each book would be creative & awesome. So it's like a buisness but also marketing and creating. Which can only drive me further. Thank you sooooo much for your inspiring help.

So true. People saying I started with my last salary of 500 bucks or 200 bucks... That was the initial cost of their 2st, 2nd and 3rd purchase together...

Very informative video! I took lots of notes. Thanks for keeping it simple and breaking things down as well!! Have you considered purchasing insurance for your candle business? I saw a video online about it a few weeks ago and never considered product liability and general liability insurance until I realized candles may catch fire and other issues may arise which may result in the customer suing the seller regardless if the candle has a warning label or not. Nevertheless, I’m excited to embark on the candle making journey and will check out the rest of your videos! Thanks again! 💓

I have a question. I am in the process of sorting out the website aspect of everything. How/where would I go about acquiring a privacy policy/terms and condition?
Could you also talk about the business setup (LLC, sole proprietorship) aspect and your views and what route you went with and why? Idk nothing about this, I live in CA and my city doesn't require a business license. So I am thinking about getting a sellers permit, to start out with that but still I'm just looking for opinions from other small businesses and why they went the route that they chose.

Yes maam i am already well over 500 dollars and the shiiiiipppppppiiiiiiinnnnnggggggg !!! Girl ! And i had to figure out the difference of ground and home delivery for fedex. Im still confused 😂😂
Ugh I'm still trying to figure out shipping. I feel like I could definitely use a smaller sized box which would bring down the price if I do cubic shipping, but I just don't want anything to arrive broken 😭

Can you share where you get your jars?
I ended up getting 3 different types of jars because things kept selling out. So I ordered from flaming candle, uline, and now Candles and supplies!

Hi! I never worked with soy, but from talking with other candle makers that seems like a normal quality of that type of wax

Hey! I’m in NYC too! Did you have to get a DBA after you got your LLC? Also, did you get your name/logo trade marked?
Hey! I don't thing getting a DBA is required. You only need one if you would like to go by a name different from the one you registered your company under. And I found a way to get my name/logo for free on the USPTO website. Different law school run clinics where the students do it for free under the supervision of their professors!

It’s not 800 in California for a LLC
I paid 77 for my LLC and it’s $79 for the seal certificate.
Ah okay. Multiple people in FB groups that I'm in have stated that the LLC price is astronomical in Cali, so I was going off of that. If your price was only $77 then I'm jealous! Good luck to you on your business :)

in CA if you have an LLC you will pay $800 franchise tax fees.

I literally have put in $1k easily, with everything from COG's, LLC and Trademark. Maybe a little more because the LLC and Trademark we're $500 together for me.
Then I get very sad, as I look around and I SWEAR, I see candles everywhere here. Idk, it might be just me, though.
My biggest hurdle is pricing at the moment as In what to charge. I know my candles are quality and I pay close attention to what is in the FO's, but it's hard to go off of that x2 X4 method here.
Oh it’s so expensive especially when you start getting into shipping costs. It’s best to buy in bulk but that requires a lot of money upfront. Don’t get discouraged by the amount of other candlemakers out there. Just focus on what makes your brand unique!
Hi! I was wondering how you approached printing your labels on jars, did you get a label printer or out source it?
My first time around I got the labels printed professionally, but eventually I got a printer and Cricut and started making them myself

Hello, so glad I found your YT channel. My mother and I are starting our own candle business too. Where in NY are you buying your stuff at? We live in upstate NY and so far I buy our stuff from Amazon, finding that a bit pricey lol.
Hey! I buy the heavier items from PA. There's a place called candles and supplies. I also shop at candle science because they have a warehouse in NC and shipping isn't too bad for me in the city. But if you google "wholesale candle suppliers on the east coast" a few results will pop up!
Wrong. It doesn’t cost $800 to start an LLC in ca. I get that you don’t live in California and even though you say that you’re unsure that’s, discouraging information.

*Most of this stuff is much cheaper on Amazon and comes on cheap bundles. You paid too much*
Everything on Amazon isn’t necessarily quality but to each their own
@@KyonneSmith well everything i purchased was great quality and it was most of the items you purchased separately but as a bundle. As long as you do your research and read reviews you should be fine.
