Older video, just checking out this beautiful 56, you took care of this car, I can tell by the way you shut the doors, I know you hated to let it go, but I'm sure it went to a very proud owner, sharpest 56 I've seen in awhile, THANKS.
Absolutely one of the nicest '56 Chevy I think I have ever seen, and a Delray! I am 68 years old and have wanted to own a '55/'56 Chevy (I favored the '55 slightly until recently}. I have had many interesting cars that are classics now, some were pretty nice considering my budget. However, I had bad luck, deals that went south when I tried to by '55 & '56 Chevy. It was like a jinx, everything that could go wrong always did! Out of unimageable number of deals that went bad, one sticks out. My friends and children got to the point to cringe when I felt the need to share the heartbreak story about the beautiful 1956 Chevrolet 210 Delray that I had a substantial deposit on. Although it needed a lot of TLC, I was in love with this Delray (it was the first one I had ever seen in person) and I was determined to make her mine. After a lot of hard work and negotiation it was finally final, I was the 3rd proud owner! I thought nothing could stop me from driving her to her new home! I was sadly mistaken. When I arrived to pick-up my baby she was dead. Overnight a giant oak tree fell and crush her from hood to trunk. That was a long time back. I wish I had the money to offer, but I don't. I had to give up the long time search, maybe it wasn't meant to be. Thank-you for sharing and rekindling a dream!
Thanks Roger for sharing that heart wrenching story. It’s really sad that you never got to have the car of your dreams. As I grew up as a child my parents Bought a brand new 56 Chevy and I fell in love with them right from the start. I do feel very privileged to have owned my 56 for 50 years. I took the best care Of the car that was possible. But after all those years I was driving it less and less. It bothered me a lot that the car was just sitting and not being driven. It took about two years to finally decide to sell the car and go onto something different but exciting. So I did sell the car to a gentleman in Dallas Texas. He has continued to take great care of the car and has made some nice upgrades to the car. I replaced a 56 Chevy with a 2006 Corvette that I found in Tucson Arizona that was like brand new and never been driven in the rain. Thanks again for sharing.
@@jimworley1048 Thanks to you for sharing Jim, Never did get my "dream car" likely never will. I had a project car with my oldest son when he got out of the Marine Corp. Unfortunately he got robbed and brutality murdered and the dream went with him to heaven. The internet and fast information age makes it possible to share some of the excitement of some of the wonderful classic cars! Thanks again Jim, the walk around of your 56 made my day!
5 years since your video... I can hear the tremour in your voice when you say that she was for sale. Nice build, although I'd have had an adapter machined to have kept the original steering wheel, myself. To each their own; you had the opportunity to own such a gem for almost 50 years. Something that most of us can only dream of.
I believe there is a quiver in my voice, this car was always special to me that’s why I took such good care of it and made some nice modifications. The gentleman at Texas who bought the car has taken good care of it and has made some really nice upgrades such as air conditioning and so on. Thank you for your nice comment
rocker box's look a little tall do they hit the firewall when you dump the clutch...? all engines will move with a ton of torque... not much but I'd imagine to cause you problems
